I’ve only ever been in one airport lounge, it was in Barcelona. I didn’t even pay to get in I happened to be travelling to the airport with someone from my hostel who I had never met before and they got me in with them. It’s the random acts of kindness that just remind you how good people are. Sam if you’re out there Thankyou
Great advice. I plan layovers long enough to ensure time in lounges and avoid using routes with poor lounges.
I have elite airline status and gain access this way.
My favorite lounge is at my hometown airport MSP: PGA Golf Experience Lounge equipped with a putting green, golf course and driving range simulator with of course great food and a view of both downtown MSP and STP. Also, PP works well at this lounge.
Neat!
Wasn’t sure if this lounge would be worth it. Glad to know it has great food & is worth the stop. Tks for ur review.
Flew Korean air when I went to Seoul, Singapore and Indonesia, the Korean air lounge is sooooooo good! The food was excellent from the lounge we flew out of SFO, and they had a shower you could use in Seoul, (the food was amazing in Seoul also) absolutely loved it!!!
Nice!
Always learning on your channel, THANKS
Thanks BoomerTuber!
Hi Chris, just watched your 20 travel tips an realised it was 3 years ago, this is not about lounges, but ..Ive used packing cubes - but find them annoying as you cant see whats there , I have bought some Ikea drawer dividers, super light weight, and am going to "roll" my clothes into these, as I have a samsonite hard shell suitcase with the 2 sides as compartments. The side with the mesh zippered side will keep the stuff upright, and the I dont need to unpack underwear - T/shirts, shorts, all sorts, but just transfer these little boxes to the wardrobe or drawers and are all visible without having to unzip.. loved your packing tips ... thank you
Thanks for the tips on the Ikea Drawer dividers. That's creative! And I like to create "evergeen" content. Videos that are good to watch for a long time later! 😉
Few years ago, I was in British Airway first class lounge in Heathrow airport ( ithink it is Term 4 or Term 5). It is the best and largest I have been.
Thank you for the valuable info! Wow! You look like you could be related to Senator Brian Schatz from Hawaii!🌺
When I travel for work I go to the delta sky clubs. When I travel alone or with family I have to sit with commoners (I’m truly a commoner) but they’re not all created equally nor is the food always good.
idk it is still there, but pre-covid, hongkong airport had arrival priority pass lounge. in my opinion, the best deal for priority pass is botejyu restaurant at osaka kansai. it is authentic japanese restaurant where food is super great and your bill get deducted 30usd. so if bill is less than 30, you pay nothing.
thanks Chris !!! these have always been a mystery to me 🙂
My pleasure!
Bangkok Thai airline lounge
This is SO helpful! I just got the AMEX Platinum and was so sad when I saw they restricted travel companion access to Centurion lounges. Now that you are talking about the crowding it makes sense. Luckily my high schoolers are old enough to wait at the gate alone. 😊
"Bye kids, I'll be at the bar" haha love it. This time I'm leaving the kiddos at home so I won't have to worry but they aren't even middle schoolers. Can't wait for that age
Concord Lounge at Heathrow FTW!!
Thai airline lounge, Bangkok
Best lounges are outside the US. Love the ones in Asia. Like you say you often get access to multiple lounges, partner lounges are sometimes better. ANA vs Star Alliance group lounge, or Singapore Air Kris vs the UA group lounge(SPATS?). Wife loves the Tokyo ANA lounge for the special order ramen. All I need is all you can drink diet coke...😁
I fly SFO and I frequently enter at the International TSA for domestic flights. Then I walk to the domestic term once beyond security. The domestic TSA often has long lines. If lines at International TSA is long, I walk to domestic and wait in line there. I refuse to pay for TSA Pre or other skip the queue programs. Not that I can't afford it, I just think it's wrong for a government agency to discriminate by wealth. If you can afford it, you can skip the line with all the poor people waiting. Same with all these express lanes on the freeway. If you can pay more just drive at 75mph passing all the folks stuck in traffic. Government run services should not do this...what do you think?
Great tip on going through the International Terminal security at SFO. And yes. It would be nice if the security lines were just short for everybody
You had yet in Singapore yeah
OMG, I'll be in Japan 03/30~04/08. If I see a group of pandas in yellow T-shirts I'd know it's probably Chris and his entourage
Hah! Right on. You might indeed see us around! 😉
QUESTIONs: What is the United Club Lounge at the Newark (EWR) Airport like? Does it still have day passes for economy class plane passengers?
I heard people sell the lounge passes on Facebook and Craig’s list
Wish they had lounges at courthouses to make jury duty a lot more bearable. I would pay money for that
Hah! That'd be nice!
Thai Airlines Chiang Mai
Weird question
Can you take food to go from the airport lounges?
It really depends on the lounge. Some lounges are setup for grab and go. But most expect you to eat it there. They usually don't have Togo containera
After watching one of your previous videos, on my upcoming trip I want to plan my flight out of Denver to leave earlier in the day to avoid delays. Unfortunately, it seems most flights to Australia leave late at night from the west coast. If I were to have a 7 to 8 hour layover in San Francisco or LA, would it be more worth it to buy a day pass for the United Club, or go out to explore during that time? I've been to both cities before, but having never been in an airline lounge, I'm having trouble deciding.
Australian here. I'm a platinum with Qantas and have access to all domestic lounges including the business lounge before and after a flight and can take two guests in with me. On international flights I have access to all One World first class lounges. On a trip to London in 2018, we flew from Newcastle to Brisbane where we went to the Qantas lounge where the staff told us the Emirates lounge was much nicer so we went in anyway just to check it out, stayed a shoert while, then went to the Emirates lounge and it was very nice indeed. Had a few days in Dubai and when we came back to the airport to continue on to London we went into the Emirates first class lounge. OH MY GOD! Can anyone tell me if there is a lounge any better than this? Coming home, Qantas at Heathrow was OK as was Qantas at Singapore. I don't fly often anymore but I did rack up 14,000 status credits which gives me lifetime gold. That gets me into the regular Qantas Club domestically before a flight only and with one guest and internationally I can access the business lounge of One World. Basically, a step down from platinum but I don't have to do anything to maintain that. It's mine for life.
Are you single? 🤣🤣🤣
@@MisHell1968 No, but wife is not overly fond of flying.
@@davidrayner9832 🤣🤣🤣
Going to Maui this summer - only 1 lounge and it is only for Hawaiian Air.
Yeah. And it's kind of lame
We always used them then our CIBC credit card opted out of the perk!
Bummer
QUESTION: Can you buy a day pass for the United Club Lounge at the Newark Airport online before your flight? Cost of pass?
Yeah. Buy it from the United App. It's about $50
Hi, so if you have a chase sapphire reserve card and a priority pass card, is the food free in the lounges or do you have to pay a certain amount?
I have a United explorer visa card, I bought tickets in Singapore airlines, since I used their card, do I have access in their lounge, or I have to book and buy ticket to the United. Thank you for clarification. SINGA SINGAPORE AIRLINES is their Allianz partner.
Traveling overseas for the first time to UK. Bought Upper Class on Virgin Atlantic. I think its the Star Alliance at LAX and Virgin lounge in London. You been to the Virgin Lounge?
Haven't been to the Virgin Lounge yet
thailand lounge
lol im also going to Japan next week to mid-april.
Maybe I'll see you around! :)
Do you need to pay a fee to use the lounges?
The lounge membership has gone really downhill. I got the priority pass around 2016. My main travel hub is PDX (Portland, Oregon). Every time I tried to use the Alaska lounge the only partner lounge at PDX - it was always full or closed. At least in 2016-2018 you could get meal credit at a couple of the restaurants. After 2018 they discontinued the restaurant credit. Never could use the Alaska lounge benefit and treated on low status with my pass benefit. It was sad. Now all benefits are gone at PDX with the Priority pass. It's disappointing.
Agreed... and Alaska lounges aren't really that good to begin with
Do you have to show a boarding pass to enter a lounge or can you just show your card?
Yes. You have to show a boarding pass to enter
Hi. I’m a new traveller from Fiji and will be transiting through LAX. Can I access any of the lounges for a day ? My layover will be about 6 hrs.
With your LAX boarding pass you can enter any terminal to visit any lounge. Security might ask why you're there but you just tell them to visit the lounge. But then each lounge has its own access policy.. so you need to make sure you go to the ones you are eligible for
If you travel international and you got the the economy, but use the United voyager credit card, are you still allowed the Star Alliance lounge??? Thank you.
If you're traveling in International First or Business Class or you are Star Alliance Gold elite you can access the Star Alliance lounge
Singapore airlines hain sen airport
Do most airline lounges offer a day pass?
Most do
At a lounge, if you eat food or drinks, is it included in the price or is it extra? It sounded like you said it depends? Some photos of various lounges at the airport near me really make it look like you can just take what you want (soda, pastries, coffee, etc). Is that the case in some places? Honestly I just don't want to look like a moron when I use these for the first time lol
If the food is out for you to grab ita free. Just take what you want. If they charge for food they'll have a menu and you have to order it. Soda is pretty much always free. Alcoholic drinks are a it depends item. Sometimes beer is free, but hard liquor costs money. Sometimes you pay a bartender, other times its an honor bar
@@YellowProductions thanks!
Hi Chris. I have a connection in Los Angeles on the way to Vegas. I come from Israel so I land at the international terminal. How do I access the American Express Lounge? Do I need to exit the terminal?
American Express Lounge is in the International Terminal... but when you land at LAX you'll likely need to clear customs and baggage claim... and you have to clear security anyway again to get back in to the airport, so just go back in to the international terminal through security and that's where the AMEX Lounge is.... not sure where your connecting flight goes out of, so be careful on that
@@YellowProductions thank you 🙏🏼
How legit are the Priority Pass and Mobile pass lounge access?
Priority Pass it legit. Just the quality of the lounges vary greatly
The Premier Club lounge at Maui airport is a joke. Super small space, a soda machine, a tray of airplane snacks, and a coffee machine. Can't imagine anyway pay this "experience"
What is your experience with the American Airlines lounge at LAX?
I've only been in the American Flagship lounge at LAX. It's nice
This info is really NOT that helpful. Most passengers are not flying first/business class, have a credit card with lounge access, and/or fly enough to earn lounge access. I bought/use the miles to access a lounge, only to be denied for the lounge was too full. Plus the miles were not refunded and were wasted.
The only time being in an airport is stress free is when you're NOT going anywhere ... Airport Lounges are not nirvana
how many international travels have shitstomped in the shower stalls? be careful.
Not worth it for occasional traveler? 2,3x per year.
Probably not worth it
Airport Lounge Food Choices is not delicious for over RM$289 per entrance can save money to eat great meals with 4 friends outside. Food like Lamb, Beef, Liquor drinks on the bar, common japanese curry rice, raw sushi, hard breads, are not many people's would choose or liking. Do people drink a lot during travel? No. So the liquor drinks display are worthless except for display of luxury feel or feel worthy after pay.
You should consider switching your camera frames around. Viewers like me are here to see the lounges and the food that it offers. But you have it on a very small screen while showing yourself on the full size screen. What gives? It doesn't make sense. Time to move on to a different channel where they actually show the lounge. Sorry. 😕
I'm putting out a whole series of lounge guides like that. Try this one of the Amex Lounge in San Francisco. I'm only in frame for the first 10 seconds or so. Then it's just the lounge: ruclips.net/video/Awum49DEBjg/видео.htmlsi=zhd_h7YtkKbDEVT-
We are not able to travel enough to have elite status. Boo hoo.
When my wife and I were coming back from our Alaska cruise the Seattle airport was super busy so we went to the Alaska airline lounge. Although it cost us we were so pleased to be away from the hustle and bustle.
Many of us poor grunts can't afford such luxury while on govt travels through airports. We can only hope there's a USO around. They're more than adequate to meet our undemanding needs when transitioning to our next duty station or TDY. One of my favorite USO lounge has been the one at LAX, where I'm able to get stow my bags and get some shut eyes while on a long layover.
Thank you so much for all you do, USO! It really means a lot to myself and many others. ❤
Hey Chris -- if you're in the military Amex will give you the platinum card for free. No annual fee. So you can use the Amex lounges too
@Yellow Productions
Thank you, Mr. Raney for the info. I'll definitely look into it. Initially, It's the exuberant annual fees that are problematic for many of us as we only fly a few times at year whether it's for CONUS/OCONUS training, deployment, or just coming home to spend time with our loved ones. Much appreciated!
A major problem with mye concerning Airline or any other credit card is I have not had or used credit since 1984, plus I no longer live in the US. Then there is the problem I do not have a address to feed their computer. I have inquired and seems none offer a Debit Card which I do have but not with airlines My wife and I together have a tax free income over $2.8 million a year. And bank balances well sufficient to qualify if they only allowed it.
Revolut debit offers free airport lounges and other travel benefits such as insurance and such if you are willing to spend 7 - 13 euro monthly depending if you have the premium or metal plans (both for travel)
And what do you do for a living to make around 1.4 mil a year
my dads an IT specialist at General Electric here in the EU Balkans with finished electrical engineering vocational school, and from what i know, he makes less than 30k a year
very confusing
Thai airways bkk
Hello, I have got my Visa Platinum, should I sign in anywhere before my going to the airport or just to show it will be enough? Thank you
USO is the best lounge. Especially when they’re past the tsa lanes.
If you're active duty military.....
@@sunnyscott4876 I mean other other lounges are exclusive
There are some airports where they don’t let you go to a terminal you don’t have a ticket to fly out of. I got turned away from terminal 3 in São Paulo which is where the centurion lounge was, because I was flying out terminal 2.
Lame :)
@@YellowProductions tell me about it. Chances are since it was South America, the lounge wouldn’t have been as crowded as they are here. And I missed a connection so I was in that airport for an extra 10 hours. Luckily they had other lounges, but not to the level on the Amex ones. And I wish I watched your videos with tips on not booking short connection on international flights before that trip 🤦🏾♂️. Lesson learned
I’ve been in Al. Mourjan lounge in Doha … huge huge lounge … very beautiful
Just received my free Priority Pass via my Amex Hilton Business card. I'm based in NYC, JFK has 7 lounges, which 2 or 3 are the best in your humble opinion?
Very cool Sid. I don't fly thru JFK all that much so I haven't been too all those lounges to tell you which one is definitely better
Have you been to Virgin Atlantic lounge in Heathrow?
Not yet
Hello! Sorry if my message is long but I have a question.
I will be taking my first international flight back to Vietnam this summer with my mom.
My mom is elderly and this might be the last year she would have the health to travel back so I want to make it as comfortable for her as possible.
I also want to apply for a travel credit card to take advantage of this trip but I'm not sure which of the following option is better:
1) Travel credit card with 0% APR interest for 15 months from opening date and no annual fee but no lounge access.
2) Travel credit card with access to airport lounges and an annual fee but no 0% APR promotion.
I should add that I don't apply for credit cards with annual fees and I've only paid for things with my debit card.
Fundamentally if you're carrying a balance on your credit card (and paying interest) it's a really bad deal. You should aim to pay your credit card bill every month in full and not incur any interest payments. If that's how you use it, then definitely get the card with lounge access... use the lounge when you travel with your mom... and then if you don't need the lounge access anymore, cancel the card next year
@@YellowProductions Thank you kindly for your response.
I am able to pay in full so I am fine with the first option.
I haven't used a credit card in over a decade so I wasn't sure whether it's worth opening a card with the intention of closing it after a year.
I will definitely take the first option into consideration because I do want to see how airport lounges are and it will help provide my mom some time to relax while in the airport.
Thank you again. Have a lovely day/night!
how much?
Chris do you find that the centurion lounges are strict with charging kids extra person price?
Yes
@@YellowProductions Interesting. My first time using it at the Miami Airport. There were two attendants there and they only checked my wife and my cards and they didn't ask us to pay for the 4 and 2 year olds.
Great informative video!
Glad it was helpful!
So far my best lounge has been Concord Room(London Heathrow) from flying 1st class British Airways. Next down at JFK is Lufthansa lounge.
