    Great video! I’d love to make this quilt but am confused about how much backing fabric I need (I’m a beginner!) You’ve said 4 yards but how wide is the fabric needed for backing? Does this assume 2 pieces need to be joined together? Any help regarding calculating backing fabric much appreciated. Thanks again for the free pattern!

    Amanda, I love your quilts, and especially the printable PDF patterns. I am currently using your Confetti quilt as a leaders & enders project. My comment is about the large amount of colored ink that is needed to print your patterns. I like the colors on the pattern itself, but a lot of blue ink is used in the title banner, rectangles(with arrows) that break apart the steps of the quilt, and the ending banner. Maybe you could use a thin blue outline surrounding a white rectangle, with blue arrows and lettering. This would serve the same purpose with smaller amounts of expensive colored ink to copy your designs. Just a thought! Keep your quilt designs coming, they are fun and easy to follow. su

    Thanks for this awesome big block pattern! I think it should be rectangles cut from 16 fat quarters and squares cut from 2 fat quarters, not 14 and 4.

    • @MaterialGirlQuilts
      @MaterialGirlQuilts  Год назад

      Hi Sharon - The pattern has you cutting only 2 squares from the 4 FQs (along with 1 rectangle each) so that it is easier to get a balance with the fabrics across the quilt and it's not only 2 fabrics being used as the squares on each side.

    Hi Amanda! New to your channel and loving it so far. My question is, can this pattern be altered, what if I only wanted to use 15 fat quarters, would that would that work? The fabric I want to order is 15 bundle fat quarter, and if I order 2 I'll have way more extra then needed. Thanks for your help....new to quilting :)

    • @MaterialGirlQuilts
      @MaterialGirlQuilts  Год назад +1

      Hi Cindy, thanks for the love! If you only have 15 fat quarters, you could probably adjust this pattern to make just 7 rows and remove one of the half blocks on the side to make it measure 56" square. Hope this helps!

    • @cindywasche3040
      @cindywasche3040 Год назад

    How does your ruler not move with just one hand and you don’t move up

    • @MaterialGirlQuilts
      @MaterialGirlQuilts  Год назад +1

      I make sure to ‘lock’ the ruler in with my holding hand. So the palm of my hand is on the table for security and my fingers spread out to balance the ruler and keep it straight. Hope that helps!
