    An absolutely stunning paint and color scheme, and OMG - I remember our long talks about the physical condition and the mechanical problems that machine had when it arrived... Jen, once again, you are a wizard! Simply marvelous what you were able to do with that crunchy basket case. I, for one, am wicked impressed! Bravo! And to Marie: Once again, your artistry blows me away... Great job, and congratulations to all! I'm proud to call both of you my friends!

      Thank you Bob! Couldn’t have done it without you! Marie…she had a hard job. The primer used by the previous painter was really hard to remove. You can see it still on the rock shafts, I couldn’t get it off. So glad that my customer will enjoy sewing on this machine now!

    Oh my goodness, Jen - what an astounding piece of work. She really does look as good as new, and sounds fantastic. You, Marie and Bob make a stupendous team. Mission Impossible, made possible - and then made real. Take a bow, all of you... and a few curtain calls. I hereby declare that the JMB Team is Minnie's Fairy Godmother and she's off to the ball!!
    I would be be so interested if you ever got another 222 cross your path that you take apart, work on, and put back together again. I have one tucked away to work on one day (probably when I retire) and know that the type of videos you do would give me the confidence to give it a go. Almost like a knit-along, sew-along etc, except it would be a 'machine-along'.

      Thank you Megan! It was rewarding to finish and I can't take all the credit. I love our little sewing machine community, it's full of helpful and generous people. I can say with 100% certainty I will be doing more on the 222k in the future...I have one being shipped to me now, shhhhhhhh. :) It will be mine until I am finished with it and then I will probably sell it but not before I make some videos with it!

    Spectacular, Jen!! Minnie looks great, but that’s not what impresses me most. You’ve tackled a project that came to you as a wreck, and brought it all back. Basket cases like this one are the most challenging and also the most rewarding. Give yourself a big pat on the back - you deserve it!

      Thank you Bill! I really didn’t know if it was salvageable. Marie gets a big pat on the back as well, couldn’t have done it without her! It was a fun project that I just tackled a little at a time.

      I wish I could knit but not sure when I would have time to learn. The sweater was from Amazon and around $30 USD. I have it in three colors because I love it so much! Haha! It’s great quality!

    Good morning! Once again your wonderful technical skills and clear, well paced- not to mention charming- teaching style are timed beautifully. (You truly are a refreshing delight to listen to and learn from.)
    I just purchased a 222K from a charity in the UK. It is in fairly good shape considering, but had a problem with the little lever that raises and lowers the feed dogs not moving, though I was able to easily removed the lever and the plate. It looks like the machine has been taken apart in the past given the condition of many of the screw heads throughout the machine...the one that holds the cover below the free arm was truly a nightmare, given that it was nearly stripped, but I finally was able to remove it. (Heat, Kroil, finally Kerosene, Chapman gun screwdriver set, and a very light weight hammer...)
    I used Kroil throughout, and with the little feed dog lever finally tried flooding the area with Kerosene (which has been the last resort, but frankly the only thing that has worked for me in the past with truly frozen machines, like a beautiful MOP Wertheim Superba "D" whose every moving part was completely encased in oil 'shellac"!). Also loosened the screw that you showed in your video that is reached through a hole under the balance wheel. Watching your reconstruction I decided the little "slide block" you mention at minute 8 on your video might be the issue. Finally tonight it gave way! Would not have had any idea what to try had you not shown and explained how you put "Mini" back together! Bless you!

    She is gorgeous and this was so informative. I wish one would fall into my lap to keep and give a makeover too. You and Marie are a great team, and Bob as well. I hope your customer takes a video of her/him opening it. What a thrill.
    P.S. I have a project back on the counter again. Thanks so much for sharing.
    I had a thought as you were putting that fork back in. Can you use tape or a rubber band to hold those pieces together until you get it in place? Then you just cut the rubber band and pull it out? Just a thought. Still you make it look so easy. Be well.

    When did you add the badge and 222k number on the front? They weren’t fitted on initially then when you flipped it over after installing the first two rods and it was there?

    • @SewingMachineRehab
      @SewingMachineRehab  5 месяцев назад +1

      Good eye! I filmed this over a number of days and didn’t film every part. I stopped to put on the badges while I was noodling out how to move forward, didn’t film that part. A little movie magic I guess?
