    Thanks again Jen. I had a noise I didn't like on the ""new" machine and this video helped me find the source of the noise. My feed dogs were too low. And although the machine worked fine like that, when in reverse, the feed dogs were ever so slightly hitting the hook. Those little noises can make you a bit crazy, can't they. Your videos are invaluable.

    Thank you I was frustrated getting the bobbin assembly back on. You helped me get it up and running again. All this for a little piece of thread getting caught. 3 hours later I’m sewing again!

    Nicely done! We do a couple of things differently, but that's OK, as long as the end result is the same. You had me cracking up laughing with your Chyron about the bobbin case positioning finger! That would have driven me crazy too. Great video!

    Thanks, Jen for another great tutorial. I'm gaining more confidence with each video. I'm working on a 1952 that I found in a newspaper ad back in the early 1990's. She's always run pretty good, but so dirty. Now she's starting to shine, and I'm having so much fun! Thanks again.

    Thank you for this great video. I always thought the razor part of the thread cutter went up. That thing is such a bear to put on. Some day I hope to be able to polish the parts like you do, oh Sensei. 🦋

      You know, I always forget how the thread cutter is supposed to go so I just do it “my way”. And you make me laugh, “Sensei”. If your fingers don’t hurt when you are done polishing then you didn’t do it right. 😉

    I could not remove the presser bar. Should I leave it in place? I love how detailed your tutorials are, Thank you so much!

      Hi! If you can’t get the presser bar out then yes, leave in place. Are you able to get it to move at all once you remove the set screw for it? For example will it twist and at least move up and down a little? As long as you can do that then clean it in place and you will still be able to set the height of the presser bar/foot and make sure that the foot sets straight. It could be that the lower part of the presser bar is a little bent and that is keeping it from coming up through the bushing. I hope that helps!

      It moves up and down but it doesn't twist

    I don't have feeler gauges to go with 4 quarters so I used my Brass Set Up Gauge Blocks, I use to set up table saw to fence measurements. They are perfect for setting the foot height. Amazon has them for different sizes and price. The set I have is the Whiteside Machine 9800 .

      Hi! It is a Craftsman CMHT68008. If you search that online you will find many buying options. It was a gift from Bob Fowler and I LOVE it! Especially the little plastic gear on the top that you can turn with your fingers. Highly recommend!

    My set screw for the guide bar has mysteriously disappeared. Do you know if the screw is available and if it might be the same size as another set screw on the machine? I may have to get a replacement if it doesn't mysteriously reappear! Other than that, things are going great!

      Hello! I was looking around, the featherweight shop doesn't sell them. I did find one here: millardsewing.com/product/pfw-45742/?Google+Shopping&MSC5&gclid=CjwKCAjwgqejBhBAEiwAuWHioHcbEfhVQF2tk_XGf165mQeIKDRmDOY60KCEu3GgkE_MnK1GhzDarBoCl_MQAvD_BwE
      You will have to buy the clamp too but if you lost the screw you won't be able to move forward without it. Hope you found it though and hope that helps!

    I just got a white Featherweight. There is a clunking sound while sewing coming from the needle plate/feed dog area. When the needle plate is off, there is no clunking sound when I test by running the machine. Should I lower my feeddog???The machine sees just fine but that clunking noise is a bit annoying. Thanks for any help.

    • @SewingMachineRehab
      @SewingMachineRehab  Год назад

      Hi! It sounds like your feed dogs are hitting the needle plate. First you will need to determine if they are hitting the sides of the opening in the plate for them or if they are hitting in the front or the back. My guess is that they are hitting in the front as they come up. There is an adjustment you can do for that and it isn't very hard. Let me know where you think they are hitting and I can help you further...

    Hi, I’m in Australia so I don’t have any “quarters”. Would you be able to recommend anything else? Or the height that’s needed in mm? Thank you ☺️

    • @SewingMachineRehab
      @SewingMachineRehab  5 месяцев назад

      Hi! I am not sure what else would replace the quarters. The height in millimeters is 7.9375. If you install the needle bar and make sure that the hook is timed right then as long when the presser foot is raised and the needle bar is down in its lowest point of travel (with the needle clamp installed) and the foot and the needle clamp don’t hit then you should be good to go. I hope that helps!
