@@SidneyDiongzon Was fiddling around for about an hour configuring settings with display mode set to "high" and battery was almost dead. Curious how much more. The rated spec is 90minutes for recording but I'm assuming that is using "standard" display mode.
I just purchased my camera yesterday. And watched your review. Thanks very much for this. I am a novice so this really helped. Plus you jumping back-and-forth through the menu helped me to understand the menu better. Cheers 🥃🇨🇦
I just do still photography. Is there a way to customize the top dial/button to create just still photography settings? Like C1 for my favorite outdoor flash settings, and C2 for instant go to studio flash settings?
Thanks for the video and info. Always helps how does a new menu works. My question is if you use 61 mg raw, how does that large file effect your computer? Does it slow it down? How about when working with video? Thanks for your help.
This is a great starter guide! I come from an old Canon DSLR and recently Leica M background so I did not about the memory function as well as AI face registrations. Thanks for sharing these settings. I am getting my Sony A7RV soon and planning to use memory 1 for lossless raw size M and then memory 2 for lossless raw size L so that I can use the reduced resolution by default and if needed I can quickly switch to the full resolution. Also, I am going to dump all JPEG with full resolution for both memory 1 and memory 2 to a SD card 2 as backup for the raw files in SD card 1 or in case I forget to switch to full resolution.
Thank you, very helpful, one thing trying to figure out, in play back mode, I would like to use the back wheel to magnify or demagnify the photo that I am looking at, is that possible?
I think he touched on this in the video. I do believe you can set it up so it will recognize several people. Go back and watch. I have only watched once but will again when i have time...😊
In the breifcase menu > go to option 3 "operation customize" inside that menu go to 5th option "different set for still/Mv" and tick all boxes. Now all your setting will be seprated so turn off PP in Photo menu and turn it on in video. When you switch back and forth the camera will do it automatically from now.
thank you...........Wasnt that long I would like you to get into a deeper video about specific setting...............I.E. Bracketing and so on Regards, Rick
May I have a question about 7R5 setup. If "Peaking" is set to "on", for still photo mode, peaking is only shown in the Manual Focus (MF), but for the video mode, peaking is displayed on screen all the time, regardless of AF or MF mode. Do I understand correctly?
When I am in Picture mode and I hit the record button, the video will start recording at what ever speed I have the camera set at, is there a way that when I press the Record button that will change the speed to what ever I have it set at when I am on Video mode? 😕
question does the camera have to be in a video mode to record video? I was shooting some images and hit the record button to get some quick video but I never could fond the video files
When I turn the camera vertically I want the information in the viewfinder to turn as well. Do you know if that is possible in the Sony A7RV? I have not found it.
Sidney... you have been a GREAT instructor with much needed help on this very sophisticated camera. Question: I am told there that there is a new version of software that needs to loaded into it. If this is true, I can't find it on the Sony website. What do you know about this? Mine shows version 1
Thanks for this, you just helped me set up my A7RV so quickly. I remember using your A7S iii setup guide also so thank you first of all! One question. When I record using M2 for 50fps as per your setup guide (I am in the UK), and I import into Davinci, the file information says it is 25fps so I can't slow it down. When I use the S&Q M1 setting (which is setup for 50 fps) it shows correctly and I can slow it down. On my A7S iii, I set my S&Q settings to 50fps + 50fps on my M1 setting, and it did work correctly. Am I doing something wrong here Sidney? thanks for any help.
Please go over wifi as it pertains to the location linkage. How do I stop camera from looking to connect to location discovery without turning on Airplane mode?
Hi, I have a Sony A7iv and I use two SD cards for my camera. How to switch SD cards to review my photos and videos on my camera? I saved my videos to SD card slot 1 and photos to SD card slot 2. Thanks.
I followed these steps exactly, when I set memory to 1,2,3 it says registered but when I switch the dials to 1 2 or 3 my setting ain’t there. Any ideas why?
When you are in photo mode (vs movie or s&q), and you press the video record button, is there a way to make that record using specific settings? I did enable "Separate settings for photo and video" setting, but it seems like I'd have to have my settings for photo saved in Custom 1, and under movie mode - custom movie settings for Custom 1, and then switch from photo to video quickly to shoot videos on the fly?
When shooting handheld selfie's with a switchpod tripod my images continue to be out of focus. Continuous focus or Automatic focus doesn't solve. Unless I use the app and my phone can't seem to find a solve. Can you help? Focus tracking on my face by touching screen and having face memory doesn't solve either. Ack!
Sidney, love your work! I recently bought the A7rv with a new grip and found that the grip did not fit and later found out that that is an issue with the current grip sold and said to fit as per the Sony Corporate, but I can tell you that after taking it back to Precision Camera in Austin Texas I was told that I was among numerous a7rv owners advising that the battery grip fitment was off. I had a gap that I was able to see through. Was wondering if you had the same issue if and when you tried a battery grip with your camera. There is a big thread on DP Review regarding this issue. Hope it gets fixed soon and maybe you could contact some of your Sony rep's and see what's up with this issue. Keep up the good work. Thank You
Vertical Grip model: VG-C4EM is the recommended grip. Per Sony, the battery door on the camera needs to be removed while using the grip. Maybe the door is creating your gap...
For weirdos like me; how many customization buttons intended for video can be allocated for photography instead (Perhaps only wile in one or two of the 3 custom modes)?

For instance you start by showing the first item on the camera when turned on but when you say to set the date without showing how to get to it then all the newbies will shut off your video and go to look for one that is showing them how to get to the date menu.
You talked too much but didn’t show any examples of what happens after these settings are applied. For someone like me who has no knowledge of the settings you mentioned, I couldn't understand what changes or results each setting produces. How much more battery is consumed with display mode set to "high" over the default "standard"?
It def use the battery more when set to high. I always bring 5 batteries with me on every shoot regardless of the camera brand
@@SidneyDiongzon mine seems to chew through battery so fast. way faster than my 7iii ever did. I'm gonna need more batteries and the grip
