Paddy, I just want to say how much I have enjoyed watching you grow in the content you produce! You have come a long way from live streaming in the 7-11 parking lot until now 🤭, not that I didn't enjoy that as well. Your videos are truly top notch! I'm so happy to have found your channel months and months ago. Can't wait to see what the future holds. I love the 'Live' premieres and how it gives your viewers the opportunity to interact with you, that's just one of many things that sets you apart from other 'RUclipsrs'. Thank you for all the hard work you do to create awesome 😎👍 content!

Before the rise of Khmer civilization there was Mon civilization housed in Thailand. Mon's civilizations were the predecessors of Khmer's and the Mon were one of the oldest ancestry of Thai people. Their second kingdom, Dvaravati was prosperous six centuries before the rise of Sukhothai.
There left 50+ ancient Mon's ruins mostly built in Dvaravati period along with Khmer's ruins in Thailand today. Most of these ruins are located in Isan. Who knows the structure you found maybe a re-completion of an ancient ruin from the original base. The base looks real old. But the newer upper structure and the lion decoration statue are obviously re-created.

Fun stories. The Nagas (or Nahk in Thai) are actually serpentine gods, not dragons. They are the Gods of Rain in the Isan folklores.
The distinction is that the Nagas do not have limbs or feet.
With their domains being the underworld (the waters), they are the protectors of farmers and agriculture. Some of the “higher class” ones serve the higher gods in heavens and go back and forth between the heavens and the underworld.
Nagas are often depicted as swimming in the water or to the sky.
For them to be on land, they have to be accompanied by the Heras, the Terminal Gods, who resemble closer to Chinese dragons but smaller.
A Naga will slither out of a Hera’s mouth so they don’t connect with dirt of the ground. As seen on the rails of most temple’s grand stairs, especially in Isan.
The dirt symbolises “impurities”, and since the Nagas are responsible to the source of lives (water), they must remain as pure as possible.

Great vibes there...beautiful, as well. An unpretentious part of Thailand...I need to keep that in mind when I’m there. It really feels like another country up there between Laos and Thailand - Laoland? The vibe is amazing. It’s effect on you, Paddy is very noticeable...it’s like you’re breathing again. A word for the effect a place has on us must be created...let’s consult Greek - topoestanom (topo - place and estanom - feeling). True evidence of how effing bored I am and how grateful I am to you for showing me the most beautiful country in the world. Thanks again, Bro’. 🙏🏼🙏🏼

Hi Paddy - Thanks for the fantastic video of Wat Phra That Choeng Chum. 3 months a year I live 5 minutes from the temple, and visit it often. Nice to have high quality video to share with friends. It's a real working temple, the heart of Sakon Nakhon, with many community events there. I hope you can visit again when you have a little more time, and get to know the Sakon Nakhon people a little. It's not really a tourist city, most don't speak English, I'll sometimes go days without seeing another farang. The people are traditional and kind, with old school family values. To me Sakon Nakhon represents the real Thailand, not the mobs in Phuket, Chiang Mai, or BKK. If you do visit, a must see is Wat Tham Pha Daen. Mainly a Thai tourist temple, it's my favorite tourist temple in Thailand, the natural beauty of of the hilltop setting is integrated with the temple like none I've seen elsewhere. Sakon Nakhon is not for everyone, or not even for most, but for some who want to experience traditional Isaan culture, Sakon Nakhon is perfect. Good luck in your travels, and thanks again.

Just as a bit of trivia interest, the Thai mor lam singer and actor, Ble Patumrach is from Amnat Charoen province. I had the pleasure of seeing one of his live concerts in Chonburi in 2019, and he does a kick-ass concert. Definitely try to catch a concert if he is currently touring. Or try to catch some mor lam concert while in Isan, and a parade if you can find one-- those are a quite amusing.

I loved Ubon and remember a restaurant on the mun river outside of the city...beautiful place. Enjoy your time in Ubon. When you get to Khon Kaen make a visit to Wat Nong Wang...another unique temple shaped like a pyramid providing great views over Khon Kaen city. Another place worth a visit is Ubol Ratana Dam and the big Buddha that overlooks the reservoir (Wat Phra Bat Phu Phan) 😁👍

Paddy, the flat tyre was form the metal wire from a worn out truck tyre. These metal fibers collect on the side of the road. We find if we ride as much as possible on the main road and not on the side we don’t get as many punctures

I went to Thailand first time in 2010 and fell in love. Then two more times and recently in dec 2019. I love this serie of yours and to see the north. Have you heard if camping is a thing in Thailand? Like with a van would it be hard to find places to overnight :) would you be allowed to park at a public beach or is there camping spots

25:40 That remind me of stray dogs in Bangkok. Some of them are smart enough to use overpass bridge to cross the wide road.

I went to Thakhek across the Mekong River from Nakon Phanom, in Laos & then on to tour the Kong Lohr Cave N/E of Thakhet. It runs 7km under a mountain. you can boat thru it. A fabulous Visit. I found the Laos speak much better English than Thais, due to their French based Lycee School System.
