Well you finally made it to our Province! And we missed you by a day! We were across the highway from The One Hotel at another hotel. As soon as you began the closing drone shots on the whale, my wife said" Wow, I hope he does not try to dance up there!" And right on cue, you began to dance! We had a huge laugh! Rock on Paddy!

Don’t miss out on the lovely little town of Nakhon Phanom. I spent new year there 2019/20. The have a nice market in the old town by the Mekong river. I recommend you to stay with a view over the river south of the Naga monument.

The view was amazing and scary. You show great views too with your drone. You were brave to walk to the edge. Even the old wood railing and walkway gave me butterflies. I guess you know to never leave home without water after that experience lol. Thank goodness you found your way out before dark. Does a compass help in places like that? Poor Dreamy feeling a little inadequate with all those Goldwings around her. My girlfriend says everyday size does not matter. As long as she gets you where you need to get too. That hiking trail was next level for sure, I always worry your going to disappear Paddy not be seen again. Maybe they will find a bloody shoe were someone was eaten by a tiger.

I have lived in Isaan for three years ( before I worked in Chanburi province for 14 years) the economy in the Isaan region basically continued at its usual pace since it is mostly an agricultural region and doesn’t rely on tourism as a major money maker ( unlike Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket, Changmai…) ; however, the province curfews and closing of evening entertainment venues ( bars/ dance clubs) did hurt these kind of businesses. Ironically ( my own personal observation) many Isaan folks that had worked at restaurants and hotels in the holiday resort towns of Thailand have returned to their provinces and opened up “boutique” coffee shops, restaurants or found employment in large franchise stores since they speak English. It will be interesting to see if they return to the big, expensive cities once things get back to “normal”.
Epic drone shots at the end was worth it! And yikes! Can't look down 😱 But do pack a bottle of small water and small snack on every hike. That getting lost going in a circle 😟😰
This reminded me of Red Rocks Amphitheatre near Denver. I spent three months house sitting in Littleton for a friend and loved the place. Many long walks thru the foothills and red rocks.

While I've missed the pre-China virus Thailand with the freedom to go everywhere, along with the hoardes, without masks or health threats, I have selfishly, guiltily enjoyed the Thailand we've had for the past two years with no tourists. I truly envy you for your nomadic journey through much of this beautiful country, free from the masses. Truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We may never see Thailand that way again, but Thailand now has to get back to the "old normal." So many people here are dependent on the hoardes returning for their livelihoods, so what may be wrong for some of us is right for them.

Reminds me of Horseshoe Bend on the Colorado river: up to 10 years ago, there were no barriers and it was great, now they have put barriers and you have a ton of tourists coming in fully loaded buses, and they put a fee to get to the panorama. So I wish they can keep these rocks untouched as they are.

Most people don't go to Level 7 Paddy so always fairly quiet up there. I've done it 3 times now. I love that province but I live in Maha Sarakham
