Technically, they're right that the ring finger has no muscles... Because none of the fingers have muscles in them. Fingers move using tendons which are connected to the muscles in the forearms! That's why when you wiggle your fingers you can see the tendons in your hand and wrist move.

It’s ridiculous to think fingers don’t have muscles. The tendons in your middle and ring finger are connected, so if you put your hand palm down on the table and bend your middle finger under, you can lift your index finger and pinkie, but your ring finger won’t budge. The nerves of the ring finger and pinkie are intertwined, making those somewhat connected, too.

Absolutely this, as someone whos ex-friend was into this kind of job for a long time and genuinely didn't feel any guilt about people under her losing tons of money, some of these people NEED to face harsh consequences to realize they need to leave. "Almost" losing her job and getting scolded really isn't much of a consequence for what is an ACTUAL felony and extreme breach of policy and privacy. Those rules are there for a reason? Like if you get to pick and choose who breaks them how is that fair to other people she may have already turned into victims. Not to mention if she did that so easily and confidently, who's to say she wasn't willing to sell customer information other ways? MC of that story didn't know her, neither did her coworkers obviously. All they knew was she was willing to do that...there's a difference between upholding ethics and safety of customers and wishing ill on someone, she should have lost her job absolutely. Not wishing her harm at all, but she should have to face how big a fuck up that is. People find new jobs all the time, save your sympathy and empathy for the people she likely hurt.

Recently my mom and I took a vacation and at one inn we spent a night at, when checking in my mom asked where to get coffee (she is the type who needs 3 cups in the morning), and the guy at the desk said just across the street is a place that has coffee- plus energy teas and nutritional shakes. That instantly pinged to me as MLM-y. Once in our room I looked online as read some google reviews and provided photos. absolutely an MLM, I told my mom my thought/findings and she agreed that she did not want to support an MLM, so we didn't. Thanks for your work!

I don’t think, in this particular case, reporting the pharmacist would drive her further into the MLM. It would have put her in jail for 10 years per charge. What she did is a felony and she absolutely did know better.

    Omgggg 😂😂😂
I'm not a doctor, but I work in the fitness industry (I know a bit about the muscular system) and skincare is a hobby of mine, so I think I know what that MLM lady was trying to say:
Obviously the ring finger has muscles in it 😂 But it's the weakest of all our fingers - our other fingers are larger (therefore stronger) except for the pinkie, which is actually significantly stronger than it's size would indicate. So, when our goal is to be as gentle as possible (roughly tugging/pulling at our skin is never great), it's a good idea to use our ring fingers to apply creams, etc.
I think that's what she was trying to get at, but because she didn't understand it properly it came out as nonsense...

I hardly remember anything EXCEPT that the makeup woman gushed about our young beauty and how we needed to use our ring finger to apply makeup so not to over press or damage our faces. 😂 must have been Mary Kay.

The whole claim by Mary Kay reps about using your ring finger has been around for a loooooong time. In the mid-90s, one of my best friends in high school had her sweet 16 party, and her mom's best friend was a Mary Kay rep and did "makeovers" with us at the party. She didn't say anything about a lack of muscles in our ring fingers but did say that those fingers use the least amount of pressure and so are best for applying cream around the eyes. The funny part is that she was having us put cream down our necks but insisted we call our necks "throats" because "chickens have necks, women have throats". I am nearly certain that my other best friend, who's now an MD (and still my friend 30 years later), and I probably communicated with just a look in that moment.

QA chemist here: I can’t confirm or deny anything doterra does because I worked in a medical grade lab, but, we did ask our new hires, especially those just out of college, with little experience (sorry, working in college labs isn’t considered much experience), questions about their lab ethics. We would ask if they would ever go off protocol, why, how they would handle ethical situations etc. this was to weed out anyone who didn’t uphold strict quality standards.

So, my day job is in class action, I'm a legal editor. My specialties are in anti-trust & data breach. Data breach for me often involves HIPPA violations and I have special certifications to handle data breach cases with HIPPA information in them. For each person that RX hun contacted using information from her job, she (and her job) can risk $100 to a max of $25k PER PERSON she violated. It is rare for a single person to hit $25k unless they're selling that information, but just imagine how many people the hun did this too, and if she had to pay $100 per person that could add up fast.

I have so many eps to catch up on! I suddenly remembered an MLM story - a family friend hosted a Mary Kay party at my house back in the mid-90s. Filo party = lots of people. Teenage girls = lots of friends. Representative came in all smiles. Smiles kind of faded when she realised that the 30-odd people were mostly Asian and with darker skin tones, and this was 1995 - yes, it's Mary Kay, but she had a very Caucasian palette with her. She did have the whole kit, and she did have some darker shades, but I recall that the shade she matched for me and a couple of others wasn't quite suitable. I think in the end only six or seven people purchased something small from her (which honestly, was probably still a good day for her! But there were 30 or so people present) and the rest of us younger girls had a bit of fun with free makeup at a house party.
I hadn't had a lot of exposure to makeup at that time because I was about 13 and my parents wouldn't let us have makeup (my sister was 16) - but I do remember coming away from that day thinking that makeup wouldn't work for me anyway, because it didn't suit my skin tone even though the magazines made it look pretty.

The CVS pharmacy tech looking up names on Facebook is not a HIPAA violation. It is creepy and possibly violates a CVS policy, but not a HIPAA violation. Names are not considered protected health information (PHI) in and of themselves under HIPAA. If the employee also used treatment or payment information in addition to the name, that would be a HIPAA violation.

OMG the finger thing from the Mary kay party brought back a childhood memory of my mom bringing me to a coworkers house who sold Mary kay. I remember the lady telling us to use our ring finger to apply eye cream. Nothing about the muscle but just because it was smoother and more gentle on the delicate eye area. I was a kid and didn't know about pyramid schemes, so I really took her tips to heart as I grew older! Other tips I remember from that party was to always rub upwards on the face never downwards because it pulls the skin more? And to save money by using rags instead of cotton balls. This was like 30 years ago, lol.

Uggg, I'm a homeschool mom and got thrown under the bus by a "friend" to SWA, I literally live on a farm in the middle of no where, they never would have stumbled across me. I ended up only buying the encyclopedia for history and still regret it. She sold me on the belief it was a full curriculum, it was not, it is only a resource. We pinch pennies so that I can homeschool, and this caused us to be over budget for curriculum because I still had to buy actual history curriculums for three kids. I warn everyone I see about this MLM and spread the word every time I see they've gotten a soliciting permit from the town.

South Western Advantage has sales people in my local area a few years ago. I’m in the UK and it’s the first and only time I’ve seen it active locally. It was two very young students from Spain I believe, and they had the photos with the local police on Facebook too. It was just weird, and I wasn’t fully aware of it at the time, but looking back I’m so worried for those two young people (probably 18 or so) being in a different country for the summer, during the height of COVID restrictions. I just hope they were safe and had somewhere to stay during their time here.
