It honestly sounds like a bit of a blessing in disguise for Ariel (setting aside her being manipulated into selling her car to join an MLM in the first place) that she wasn’t approved for a car loan. If she and her husband were already struggling with money, getting a luxury car would have been an absolutely awful financial decision.

Many MLM people don't seem to self refer that way. I've met a few women who call themselves 'ambassadors' of a brand or 'owners' of their own 'business' who are just bulk-breaking these branded products. I just say, but do you make passive income when you recruit? That's it. That seals the deal.

Funny story: My husband bought his car used from a local dealership. It was summertime, and we soon saw dust settling on the rear window, where a HUGE Pure Romance banner magically appeared. I guess the woman who had owned the car before us had had a big decal on the back windshield that left some kind of residue behind. We looked up the company and my husband definitely did not want to be driving around with people thinking he sold for Pure Romance! We tried so many different cleaners and solvents and could not get the residue to come off so we finally had to take it back to the dealership, where they worked very hard to finally get all traces of the Pure Romance logo off the window! They were mortified. On another note, I've never been to one of their parties but they sound AWFUL. The idea of being taken into a back room to talk about their products.... And asserting that people "can't leave" without talking to the rep is insane. Who are they to tell me I have to talk to them before I leave? And yet I bet everybody does it because they don't want to hurt the host's feelings. Yikes.

It is genuinely terrifying to me how many parents get away with medically neglecting (abusing) their children. And how often its completely legal because as a society we view children as their parent's possessions/objects rather than full people who deserve to have their needs met no matter what their parents think about it.

I’ve had severe eczema off and on for almost 40 years. My heart breaks for this child living with eczema without the benefit of medical intervention. 😢 I suspect she may not have had the staph infection the whole time. Severe eczema can cause weeping sores, which then become a breeding ground for staph infections to set in. The irony is that essential oils are a common cause of eczema, so her mother’s “remedies” were probably making her sick the whole time. 😡

I got invited to a "Christmas party" by my old boss, at her house. Long story short, I didn't want to go to a party the day before Christmas as I had stuff to do, and I had plans with my then boyfriend and teenage daughter. I’m in school to be a vet, and while I agree that some things in people can be helped with herbal treatments, please please please please please do not use those treatments on your pet without consulting a veterinarian first. Maybe even multiple veterinarians. Animals do not react to things in the same way that people do. Humans are very VERY tolerant to many toxins found in nature that our pets are NOT tolerant to. Things like tea tree, eucalyptus, peppermint, pine, and so so much more can make your animals seriously sick if exposed to direct doses of them. Or even just small doses in some cases. Pets and people are not as close as some people think, and so many animals have suffered because of that mindset

I nannied for a family that, looking back, I should have reported. Similar situation with trying to cure ear or scalp problems with essential oils. One of the kids had a permanent bald spot from ring worm that went on too long. The other was having teeth issues bc the parents didn't have the kids brush unless the kids wanted to (they were like, 4 and 7). One got an ear infection and I was so relived when I finally got a text from the mom asking me about how I got my ear infections handled (I've had them a lot since I was little. Just always had ear problems.) When I tell you this woman was SO scared of medicine.. I told her the antibiotic ear drops the kid would be prescribed for the infection, that it has no side effects, and he should feel relief in a couple days. She finally did it (and the kid healed so fast!), but the mom guilt she felt...man. It was a messed up situation all around. I felt horrible for the kids and low-key for the mom too, who had been exposed to so much whack disinformation over the years.

When we got there, we saw all the usual vendors. However, my 5yr old yells, hey mom! Look at that! You should get one. I look to the stall and to my shock, it was a Scentsy rep. The lady smiled at me but before she could talk, I moved my family away as I said that’s an MLM and I choose not to support them. My husband couldn’t help but stare at the lady who now stared at us. Hi Hannah, I don’t know about any other company’s car programs, but I do know MARY KAY‘s in depth. I worked for the corporate office for 21 years. Before everyone hates me, I did not understand the damage that I was helping to propagate until about a year or two after I stopped working for them. I truly felt in my soul that I was helping people. Anyway, the car program is not a purchase… At least not with MARY KAY. When you “win“ a car, you are earning the use of that car. MARY KAY leases it and insures it as long as you keep your numbers. If you drop your numbers one month, you have to pay for certain things like the lease and insurance which MARY KAY is still paying but they’re taking it out of your commission and then if you continue to not hit your numbers… You lose the car entirely. You are then offered two choices: turn the car back in or you can buy it from MARY KAY. I hope this helps in someway.

I've seen people get random texts from someone they barely know or knew a long time ago pitching some weight loss product from an MLM. The sad thing is that they end up texting people who have ED or are struggling with ED recovery and trying to gain weight. This is a new form of how people would stuff an advertisement about a weight loss product into a stranger's mailbox with some like "I thought you would be interested in this" written on it, making someone think that someone you know put it there. Like someone you know is thinking that your so huge that you need a weight loss product. It's so gross.

Parent’s being told that medicine is evil and their children touching plastic will give them cancer. In fact, they have been in Amway since 2018 and my grandpa will be celebrating his 80th birthday in 2024. I think older people do fall prey to MLM’s because of the entrepreneurial mindset they were raised with. The idea that they can have the American dream through how hard they work. I live in a town filled with a "non denominational" made-up recently branch of charismatic evangelicals who are all anti vax and often claim that medical treatment is "against their religious beliefs" ... except for there is nothing in their actual religion that codifies that and they have no unified doctrine. Its all just a bunch of people who want an excuse to neglect their kids, who claim "religion" and move on. At least when catholics say bc is against their religion, it is actually against their religion. Or jehovas witnesses and blood transfusions. I still dont agree but at least they have an actual belief system. Soooooo sick of these people who just cherry pick BS pseudoscience to justify letting their kids suffer. Sorry, but if you claim that seeking treatemnt for your kids mental illness or infection is "against your beliefs" but if i ask your pastor and he says theres no teaching against going to the doctor, idgaf about your "beliefs". Funny story: My old office, which I did functional medicine in, using a particular company for the products I use with my clients, was taken over by one of these nutrition shops. The company I use accidentally sent my inventory to the old office. I could tell the manager of the shop was annoyed as I am sure they looked up the company, realizing what I do. @Floridameerkat93 so I don't have kids, but it is my understanding that in the US parents have full control over medical decisions for their children under 18 years old. You can not provide medical care without the consent of the parent. So if they provided medical care, and the parent did not agree that they would have legal right to sue.
I am not saying I agree with it, but that is just my understanding of how the laws work surrounding medical care with kids under 18.
I do think that the staff at the school should have asked some more questions and maybe got CPS involved since the parents were neglecting to provide actual care.
But, we weren't there, so we do not know all the questions, or if that particular school would have been able to take any further action. It is possible they tried, and nothing came of it too.

I've seen Herbalife "ask me how" badges and water bottles, seen some Tupperware and Scentsy booths, and have had the occasional colleague leaving a brochure for a brand of skin care I've never heard of with order forms. Looking back the jewellery/kitchenware/whatever parties my mum would grumble about were probably MLMs, and I've had a friend mention she knew someone who could host a "toy" party which didn't go anywhere after a few of us noped out after mentioning it sounded like an MLM.
Still, it doesn't seem as big of a thing here compared to the US. Or even the UK, where I encountered MLMs much more frequently compared to here.

I was in shocked to see every other coworker selling products and if one coworker bought something from the Pampered Chef rep and the Pampered Chef didn’t purchase anything back there was bad talk. I once mentioned to them that I just go to the store and purchase what I needed, their response was “it’s best you support small”. 🤦‍♀️ It truly is vicious with these MLMs. And every other person I met was a 31 consultant 😱 How many bags or lunch bags can you buy from so many reps coming up to you asking if you would like to host a catalog party or house party? 🤦‍♀️

After doing the shipping & taxes it comes out to $31.86 & when I take that number to see how much each piece cost it comes out to $0.99867 so $1.00 a piece!
Aside from that, the danger in this is disgusting. You should NEVER swallow gum but in order to “reap the benefits” of said gum, you would have to swallow it just to absorb the “beneficial” ingredients!!!

And who decides on urgency and the level of seriousness?
I feel like the school wasn't doing enough in that situation and they should've done more to get medical help for that girl.

The Young Living one from Australia reminded me of what happened to me recently. My sister and I went to a monthly market near Toowoomba QLD. Doterra rep had a stall at a local marketplace. I steered my sister away from that stall thanks to your videos. She didn’t have much product on display but my guess was she was looking to start up a conversation with someone.

To add to the story about the pure romance rep who helped host an “engagement party”, I’ve seen a gross tactic where they have the bride put together a “gift list” or gift registry of some kind through the MLM rep, and if the guest at the end of the party says “oh I’m not going to buy anything” they try to get them to buy a “gift” for their friend instead, and present the guest with a list of things that friend supposedly wants. I’ve even heard of this happening without the host’s knowledge, where the rep just takes it upon themselves to insinuate that the host “was wanting this” or “was looking at this item”.

I've overheard coworkers say they would rather wait for two weeks for illnesses to resolve themselves than go to the doctor because they distrust doctors. People like that are prime MLM targets.
And all this is the result of our crappy healthcare system in the US.

Ugh the whole essential oil story sounds exactly like a couple people I know 😢 and I can’t imagine the damage it’s doing to their kids because they are always doing different diet cleanses and parasite cleanses

If I saw someone as a walking billboard for an MLM, I’d go the other way. Eye contact is dangerous with them.

I lost my best friend to family health conspiracies. It got really bad around Covid-19, as you can imagine. It’s disturbing knowing what she was told growing up and how it plays into who she is now. I hope she finds a way out 😢

It makes me sick the abuse people go to with oils. And I am a huge lovers of animals. And there are a LONG list of oils that are SO dangerous for pets. And it makes me so sad that people don’t take care of the helpless babies. 😢

I had an experience at a candle MLM party. The party was light and fun, we had refreshments and music. I noticed people were being singled out and brought to the host and this woman. The vibe given off by the group was very uncomfortable. It was almost like someone was being tortured, the vibe was so bad. Soon it became my turn. I was soon being pressured to buy some product. It was super expensive, and I was working two jobs. The only way out I could think of was to run away. This is what I did but there was an issue. I didn't drive to the location myself and my ride was still in the party. I walked back inside to make her aware that I would be waiting for her outside or if needed I could call for another ride home. My friend apologized to me (I didn't know the host and she didn't know what kind of party it was) and we left. My friend got in trouble with the host because we left before my friend was pitched. Her friend constantly badgered her to join the opportunity. I know she bought some candles but never joined the opportunity.

Regarding the third story, one could argue that not only the parents, but many adults and teachers failed the sender. That teacher who contacted the school nurse did a great job, but I cannot believe this went on for so many years without an adult asking questions or reporting it. I know CPS isn't always the best solution, but they exist for a reason. It's sad but it is kind of a miracle the sender, their family and their pets are all alive, untreated infections can lead to sepsis and there's no coming back from that.

English is not my first language, so listening to someone so well spoken is just music to my ears! I know it’s not the point of your videos but thank you for that extra cherry on the top of good content 🤗
