Being on a vacation while your child is in a hospital, dying and begging for you, is one of the worst things someone can do. It's one of those black and white things. If you have the heart (or lack of it) to do that to your own child, you are irredeemable imo. People go to huge lenghts for the health of their pets, and there are "parents" who would do this. And I also say the company kind of brought it on themselves by making their entire business model a scam AND on top of it being dumb enough to not have IT people available at 7 PM when the girl made it clear that's when the glitch happened. Like, really. That stupidity is why the girl was able to do this in the first place. It's as stupid as leaving your front door unlocked when you go on vacation and being all shocked pikachu face if you get home to find your entire house robbed. And I say vacation because this isn't like momentarily forgetting to unlock the door on an errand and coming right back. (in which a robber would still have to stake out the place for days hoping for an opportunity and/or act on impulse). And this isn't a personal boundary either (where anyone should know better than to barge in regardless of how exposed said person might be because people aren't property and can always make clear whether there's an actual invitation or not). This is more like putting up a bigass sign saying "Please rob me now. My door is open".

My mom married the most moneyed man she could have, disregarded the fact that the man (my dad) had already married with two kids. She also had two children (my sister and I) with the man to ensure her children would take care of her in her old age. When my dad left her to marry another woman (duh🙄), she became abusive towards me, UNTIL I could work and earned some money (which she took without my consent). My personal experience makes me assume the worst when I see people monetize their children on social media. I'm also very suspicious towards people who adopt a lot of children.

Currently snuggled up on the couch with my 3 year old after listening to that second story. He's been sick for like a week and feels better today, so he's been giving me big hugs and kisses. I'm so grateful that I got out of my MLM when he was still a small infant. My heart is broken for the little girl in that story. I can't even fathom abandoning my child when he needs me most.
As an overprotective mom of a toddler with autism, I can only imagine the harmful rhetoric I would still be listening to and sharing about essential oils if it weren't for your videos Hannah. Thank you for all that you do 💖

My sister tried to be a MK consultant. Some of the meetings were a few hours away from her. She would get yelled at for not attending. Her last straw was when she attended a local workshop and I was her guest. As I wasn’t “model material”, I was treated as if I was a toddler (I was in my 20s at the time) and of absolutely no value. She quit after that.

I was thinking, maybe she couldn't take the pain...but as you probably already know, being a mother literally means that your priorities have to take a back seat because your child needs something. Try to take this story as a blessing for every time you're feeling overwhelmed by motherhood. My 37 year old daughter is visiting me today, and I can't wait to hug her. Yeah, being a mother is a lifelong thing.

My daughter has a rare genetic condition where most with severe forms of it die by age 4. She is turning 4 this month. Yet we still haven't been able to receive medicaid here in Ohio. We are trying to fight for a waiver. Some states are super strict with medicaid. A social worker did tell us that if you are in the hospital for more than 30 days, you can get it (she had medicaid for only a month or two after being in the nicu for over 7 weeks after birth before they kicked her off for income). I would certainly hope this child had medicaid being she was literally on her deathbed, but sometimes the government does fail these children and their parents, so I would do research on the person in questions state laws and health conern before thinking they are lying. No confrontation at all, just informing.😊 Now if we moved 40 mins east into PA, she would have had medicaid since birth. I wish more states were like that. We are struggling to get my daughter the things she needs, and it is not fair to her at all! The Healthcare system is failing 😢

My son was hospitalized with RSV in January of this year when he was only 4 months old. He had to be placed on oxygen because he couldn't get enough air on his own. One night, my husband sent me home so I could get some sleep and he stayed with our baby. I sobbed the entire drive home and I cried myself to sleep when I got there because I was terrified that he would need me and I wasn't there. The idea that a mother could leave her dying child to beg for her in the hospital is unconscionable.

im shaking typing this because I had a feeling this would somehow make it to reddit or youtube or something for a while now but still in shock. The Mary Kay story is about my husbands ex SIL but i still feel like its my due diligence to set the record straight because for some god forsaken reason this vile woman has been telling this FALSE story for the last 4 years. CHELSIE WAS NEVER AT A RETREAT. SHE WASNT SPLASHING AROUND AND HANGING OUT AT THE BEACH. SHE WENT TO STAY WITH HER SISTER 2 HOURS AWAY BECAUSE JARED WOULD GO OUT EVERY NIGHT TO SLEEP WITH HIS COWORKER, COME HOME AT 2 AM AND SCREAM AND YELL AT HER SAYING HE WISHED IT WAS HER INSTEAD. she was gone for ONE WEEK, took her son because she couldnt trust jared wouldnt stay sober long enough to care for him . she drove the 4 hr round trip every day except once because she literally had to be SEDATED because of how distraught she was. physically incapable of doing ANYTHING. the day reagan passed she was essentially tranquilised again and doesnt remember anything that happened for the next 3 weeks and BARELY remembers the funeral. she had a complete nervous breakdown and was hospitalized for a month and while there jared took their son and moved in with his new coworker girlfriend. i have NOTHING to gain from lying about my brother in law. my husband hasnt spoke to him in 3 years. Last i spoke to chelsie she and her son were living with her sister again and is still unable to work at all. jared hasnt made an effort to make the at most 3 hour trip to see his son since christmas. our family is still very much broken from this. and its part of the reason why i became part of the anti MLM community, because i know that her mary kay upline most DEFINITELY told her to make those posts. she was herself exploited and manipulated. but it was her only source of income. she couldnt just get another job. jared was missing work a lot as well. she had no choice but to sell so she could have the little money she did make for gas and food and whatever else was needed. if not for her parents the funeral wouldnt have been able to be paid for. it makes me sick to my stomach that a family tragedy was exaggerated and embellished by someone who doesnt even know HALF of what my husbands family went through. is it boredom? attention? does it make you feel important and morally superior? go worry about your domestic battery charge, Cori.

As someone working in class action - the MLM let a minor doing something without parent permission that legally required parent permission. And had no way of verifying parent permission, most states require in person parent signatures or must contact the parent to verbally verify, and in some states you must have a work permit as a minor that requires a parent under specific ages. It wouldn't just be hard for the MLM to fight, they could be countersued for a lot of money and that countersuit could've opened a floodgate with the state for exploitations of minors which would've ruined not just the company, but possibly the founders and reps if the company was not an LLC.

I WAS a daughter that was abandoned on what was believed at the time to be my "death bed". I was told I wouldn't survive the night, and the doctor asked me if there was anyone he would like me to call. I told him he should probably call my mother. When the doctor came back into the room after attempting to inform my mother of my situation, he told me that she said she couldn't be there because she had to do laundry that night. (Keep in mind, she only lived like a 30 minute drive from the hospital in which I was staying. But I guess laundry was more important than her daughter's life). Yup. Felt pretty shitty to have to come to the understanding that your own mother doesn't give two craps about you as you lay dying alone in a hospital. Fun times. Obviously I survived (probably on pure spite I suspect) but I have been struggling with a severe depression ever since.

@@nixi7688absolutely. MLMs are often compared to cults, and abusive relationships are often called a "cult of two". Even listening to the version of events described in the letter, the MK woman's behaviour absolutely sounds like the behaviour of someone brainwashed by a cult/abuser to always prioritise the cult/abuser over everyone else - which is why so much posting about the daughter would have happened due to pressure from her upline.
I've spent a lot of time in communities for abuse victims and my first thought was that her behaviour was similar to the warped decision making that occurs as a result of years of abuse. Cults are abusive, MLMs are abusive and the entire situation just sounds incredibly sad all around. Even if the letter was true I definitely didn't feel it was as black and white as she was a completely terrible mother, and this other report of the cheating and drunk partner and the MK rep really struggling (and not going to the retreat at all) makes it all even sadder.
These "businesses" prey on people they can manipulate, just as abusive partners do. It's easy for others to say from afar "I wouldn't do that" or "how could she behave like that", but these environments literally change people's brain chemistry to impair problem solving and decision making and work much more in instinctive fight/flight/freeze/fawn. Everything about that story is so awful. I hope she got away from the MLM, as well as the cheating partner.

I'm not sure what the rules are in PA. It's just that growing up my dad always told me minors can't anger into contracts. It turns out they can, but they can break the contract at anytime which prevents preditory businesses from going after minors.
Except apparently the MLM in Story 3. From my perspective, they had it coming. Don't prey on litteral children and you won't lose $2,500.
And I'm so impressed with her skills to come up with that number.
And seriously F--- the MLM and their scare tactics.

I hate "before and after" photos so much. It just feels like people are shaming their past selves, and if they ever gain the weight back, they're just going to abuse themselves over it. Like, would you really show a picture of any other overweight person and say the things about them that you've said about your "before" photos? If not, maybe ditch the habit. You are you at every size. Love yourself. Be kind.

The Aunt C story (the last one) really hit me close to home. For my first 5 years my mom was a prolific drug dealer and the description of Aunt C constantly on the phone, making deliveries, etc sounds just like her. Its crazy how these mlm moms neglect their children in such a parallel way.

I wonder if the Mary Kay hun was just in such denial about her daughter dying that she thought that going about her normal routine and treating it like a regular hospital visit her daughter would recover from was how she coped. She wasn't the mom her daughter needed at that time, but I understand avoiding and denying when someone is dying. Sometimes it's too hard to face the reality of a situation.

10 years ago this July my 10 year old son had a heat stroke. As soon as I saw him I passed out. Here my son was fighting for his life and I’m having to be seen because the overwhelming sight caused me to pass out. He was on life support for 29 days before we were told he was brain dead. On July 29, 2014 my son passed away. I never left his side. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to face. It killed me every day going into the PICU and seeing him. I wanted so badly to wake up in the room I stayed in and find it all to be a nightmare. After he passed I would pretend he just went to spend the night with my sister which that pretend didn’t last 2 days.

      ❤ I just can say:
      - Someday somehow, you're going to see him again, for sure.
      - No one should survive a child of his/her own but we're humans and therefore, mortal
      - Try to live, until the day you see him again, the life he would have wished: sing, love, make what he would have done if he was alive
      - Live the way he would have wished for you: be that person he loved once. Maybe somehow he's still by your side.
      Be strong. ❤

Unfortunately, I have seen many pediatric parents be so self absorbed while their kids were on the hospital. Granted, none of these kids were dying at the time, but they were bad enough to need to be inpatient. I’ve seen parents go on vacation with their other kids, leave for the night to go party, etc. Bad parents are the worst part about taking care of peds.

Story #2: When I saw the thumbnail, I thought, "There is only one other time Hannah cried like that when reading a story. This has to be horrible." Yep.
I offer a prayer for Miranda that she finds the peace and love in the Otherworld that her mother failed to provide. I hope that Cody has extended family willing to step up and take care of him because it looks like neither of his parents are going to do it. If not that, then I hope his dad takes him and leaves that relationship, because they both ought to have better in their lives.
Story 3: Ooooh, this is making me cackle but also - actually, no, I don't feel THAT bad. OP scammed a scammy company, and like with those email scammers, it is *chef's kiss*. And so glad she and her mom got their retainer back in full!
As for constantly being a diet, and different ones at that, I imagine it messes with your insides something awful. Not unlike how Hollywood actors will diet, work out heavily, go etc. to prepare for a role and then they even risk dehydration to keep a "cut" physique in front of the cameras. That's not good for their health at all.

So. Many. Thoughts. And. Emotions in this one Hannah.
As to the vile heartbreaking MK rep - it’s so twisted! There is legitimate manipulation and inexcusable indifference on the part of that mother to be away from her dying child…and also, the mother was also probably burned out from caregiving a medically complicated child.
Perhaps she didn’t really truly internalize what was happening as they had had many close calls before? Not an excuse, but maybe some understanding to a difficult and cold situation.
They are absolutely a very broken and hurting family.
