It’s hilarious that once I start thinking in Old English, it all makes perfect sense. Thanks for that.

Yeah, this is one of my favorite things about learning Spanish ... It really makes me think deeply and analytically about how modern English works and the roots of where our terms and phrases come from. It's amazing how often "oh yeah, various older ways of speaking in English are way closer to literal translations of this" hits me and helps me understand Spanish concepts.

Thanks for this, I understand better now. I was seeing/hearing "que" everywhere and it was driving me nuts because I could tell it meant different things in different contexts but I couldn't figure it out.

So many people post easy to learn content. You clearly have gone through the conversion from beginners Spanish to fluency and you understand what confuses people along the way. So many of your videos focus not on basic concepts that anyone can teach but instead nuanced concepts that you really have to understand another level of meaning to teach. I can't say how much I appreciate that. Thank you. I hope that you have continued your journey with Spanish; you would make an incredible teacher. (from a medical student who spends all day learning)
edit: Also you mentioned teaching students, so more so I hope you've continued to teach

    •  5 лет назад +2

Thanks! My goal is to have people leave my videos without questions in the topic at hand. Glad you noticed.
And I still teach and currently I'm working on an online course because I'm getting too many teaching requests Jaja.
      Thanks for you kind words!

Cabe mencionar que también el "que" se puede emplear al inicio de una frase para expresar sorpresa o felicidad. Ejemplo" : ¿Que te vas a Argentina!!? Y también para ligar frases. Ejemplo: Ella no quiere ir. Que ya es muy tarde. (Manera coloquial de decir "es que ya es muy tarde" o "porque ya es muy tarde" También se puede hacer la cláusula subjuntiva antes de la cláusula principal si es un tema de que ya hablamos. Ejemplo: "no quiero ir. (Que) estoy enfermo" "Que estés enfermo no me importa. Vas a ir"

Great video Rickie. I recently learned about the use of , " como que" to mean "like or as if" . If you could touch on it in a future video it would be amazing I always thought using "como" and "que" together meant something else but I guess it can mean lots of other things in a sentence depending on if an accent is used or not and where. Anyway, can't wait to see your next lesson.

I'm trying to figure out how I want to display that information, because, I'm actually coming up with a program that I am going to sell. Some things I was going to save for that course, but I don't wanna leave my subscribers hanging, so I may just do it anyway, because the way that I'm setting up my course is that they will get the same lesson, but they will just have A LOT more to work with as far as practice resources, and an homework matierial and things of that sort.

Tú (with accent) means You (personal pronoun subject), with no accent "Tu" means Your (adjective possesive). Ti is personal pronoun object You. Te has no exact translation, it's close to reflexive pronouns such as Yourself, as for example Ex. Tú te peinas => You comb yourself.

However I'm not sure in which category "Que no!" would fall as a reply to a question. I'm not sure if it's more of a Spanish (from Spain) way of speaking. For example:

    • @Crystal_12gem
      @Crystal_12gem 6 лет назад +11

Rozalyn Leslie it means "what". But not "what" in a question.
      Example
This is what makes me scared.
Esto es lo que me da miedo.

    •  6 лет назад +24

I was going to discuss that in another video, because I felt it would be too much for this one lol.
but it could mean "what" "that which", or "the thing that"
Eres lo que comes - You are that which you eat or, You are what you eat.
Puedes hacer lo que tú quieres. - You can do what you want.
No soy lo que tú piensa que soy. - I am not what you think I am, or I'm not that which you think I am.
Lo que te quiero decir es que... - The thing that I want to tell you is that..
I'll go over it in another video to clarify it better.

There is always more to learn. I learn more all of the time. However There is nothing wrong with saying it the other way. As far as Hacer que. I had to learn that one because I wantned to use it once, but didn't know how to say it. lol
