      @ I'd be excited ABOUT going to those countries not FOR them. I know a lot of people in your generation say "for" when they mean "about". Just like people wrongly say "where I'm at" instead of "where I am". What passes for good English these days is pathetic.

    ¡¡Te agradezco mucho!! For not teaching curse words. I am a 18 year old Africam American who prayed to learn Spanish last year. I live a Christian Life and it's good that you don't curse. I speak at an intermediate level and I use Spanish to tell others the gospel. Which is Jesus paid the price for our sins that we wouldn't have to go to hell for them if we decide to follow him and repent of our sins and way. I hope God moves in your life.

    I'm Spanish native speaker and I'm really improving my English vocab with your videos! I didn't even know how to say enésima vez in English! I love in the way you learned Spanish bringing the language to your everyday life. In my case I had to move to Australia, otherwise I think I wouldn't have been able to learn the language. Mucho exito hermano. Un saludo :)

    •  4 года назад +7

      Hey Alejandro. Thanks! Enésima in English is "umpteenth" I know it's weird, but that's it lol
      And Australia! Wow. That's very far, but I'm that I could help you and that you have pushed yourself to learn English. Keep it up!

    • @ivetterodríguez-j4k
      @ivetterodríguez-j4k Год назад

      Wow, I never knew how enésima was spelled. I just know my mom uses we she's frustrated with me. 😂
      It's always the simpler words I get stuck on. I forget to use filler words and feel like I overuse así que because entonces sounds formal to me. Even o sea sounds strange and I'm not sure if it's less common in Mexico particularly or if my mom who prefers to say es decir and quiero decir.
      I was taught "o sea" in highschool and it always felt wrong. Is it a Spain thing or just my mom not using it enough with me?

    I have been watching your videos for the last couple of days. They are very good. Most of the expressions are spot on, like the many ways to say “so”.
    In spanish “y punto” is actually used for when you are leaving no room for argument, similar to saying “that’s final” in English. “En punto” is actually the expression used for “on the dot”.
    Some of us also say “en serio” when we are trying to say for real.

    I heard or read somewhere that the sound that you make when you are thinking is produced when your tongue is resting/relaxing; that resting sound is different in various languages because each language has a different 'resting' spot of the tongue in your mouth.
    So in English we say "umm" because that's the sound our mouth makes when the tongue is in its "resting" position in English. In Spanish the "resting" sound is different ("emm") because tongue rests in a different position for someone whose native tongue is Spanish. I'm not sure if that's 100% true but it makes sense!

    •  4 года назад +2

      That's very interesting. I would have never guessed that at all.

    Thanks for these videos bro, they’ve helped me out a lot with improving my Spanish, I can’t wait till I’m fluent!! One challenge that I’ve had is learning and understanding phrases that do not translate well to English in literal form. For example, “me tocó verla” = “I had to see her” but literally means “I touched myself to see her.” (FYI - I heard this from a Mexican speaker) Any advice or resources that you know of for learning phrases such as this?? Thanks again, sigue adelante bro!! Saludos desde Maryland!!

    • @BlackPanther-we5yi
      @BlackPanther-we5yi 6 лет назад +4

      Look up spanish idioms that may help you. Also download the Hellotalk app to speak with spanish natives all spanish speaking countries.

    •  6 лет назад +4

      Thanks. I've been extremely busy with my training and haven't been able to make videos, but more are coming next month.
      The best advice that I can give you is to learn from experience. You can look up idioms (modismos) online, but I learned all of y colloquial phrases from experience. Sometimes you'll feel dumb for not knowing somethings, but it's the only way to really learn. Let me know if you have any more questions. I'd be glad to help. an sorry for taking so long to respond.

    Dude, this is sssooooooo helpful - no sabes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    I speak Spanish fluently which I have learned over the years and speak comfortably every day.. Having mastered English and Frech over my lifetime, learning Spanish came quite naturally....
    ....For me, the nuances you've highlighted in this publication may seem of little value to a novice student, but once you become at ease enough to entertain discussions related to any (common) topic, the one thing missing is fluidity.
    This video has proven invaluable as I NOW, consider myself fluent gracias a ti guey!
    En serio, muchisimas gracias hermano!!!!!

      It's neat how diverse the Spanish language is. In Spain one would say 'que tal' and you can refer to a friend as 'tio'. My Colombian friends in London often start with 'que hubo?' which sounds more like q'ubo or 'que mas marica'. Every country has their 'way' and even within each country there are more variations again.

      There is nothing wrong with knowing the curse words, because it's good to know when someone is angry at you, but using them is silly. There are so many words to express ourselves, why do we have to resort to those?

    Love your videos... I binge watch them lol. How would you say something like "you feel me?" Would that be like, me entiende? My boyfriend is from Nicaragua and not sure if this is a Nica thing but he says "oistes" after practically every sentence. Also a Nica word I love for "cool" is tuani. We live in Panama and the word "dale" seems to be used a lot for "okay". Also, not sure if this is Nica or just that I have a weird boyfriend, but he exclaims "que barbaro/a" or "que barbaridad" all the time and it always make me laugh cause who even says "how barbaric!" in English haha!? But he uses it to mean like "how crazy". Keep up the amazing content!

    Can you do a video on how people abbreviate in Spanish. I notice when people are speaking quickly (which is most), they tend to not say each letter and pronounce the words. For example when some people say “este” I hear “ete”. Things like This can be difficult to understand while learning Spanish, and can make me sound very foreign in my opinion. Can you make a video on comprehending this, and speaking like this.
