This is why the school system fails us spanish speakers. They teach us how to translate it. They teach us how to read Spanish, but translate in English. I love the Spanish language, and I plan to pursue it, but i need to get this issue. Thanks for the video

I’m in Spanish 2 and we’ve never gone over the use of para also meaning over here when combined with the word for here in Spanish. Also the entire message you wrote had like three words i haven’t learned and I’m worried Spanish 3 won’t cover that all. Are you just using more advanced vocabulary? or do I need to get an app for extra help?

I'm struggling to get past pausing when I'm speaking, because I am afraid of making a gramatical mistake or get the preterit vs imperfect wrong. My friend told me to forget about it if you make a mistake. Just talk. It's better to talk and make a mistake without pausing, than keep pausing. What do you think? How did you get past that stage?

Another tip; when using translation tools, avoid copy/paste.
Force yourself at all cost to type out every word and double-check each word thrice!
This has helped me greatly by forcing me to pronounce words and sentences aloud many times (till I get it right).
Memorizing spelling and grammar is VERY time-consuming if you don't want to make mistakes, it's much easier to paste (I know).
Never-the-less, I invite you to consider these additional minutes as an investment in your learning.
Immersion is the fastest way to conformity.

What I do is put subtitles in Spanish when I watch Spanish speaking content or movies. If the subtitles are accurate, you will see a lot of words you recognize. The ones you don't look them up and make them into a flashcard on your phone.
Another thing I do is listen to Spanish speakers and focus on listening to the Spanish words instead of trying to understand what they are saying in English When I can hear the Spanish word accurately, when my vocabulary improves I will understand the speaker.
Reading books in Spanish helps big time. Your vocabulary improves A LOT. When you bump into words and phrases you don't know, look them up and make flashcards out of them. Make the front of the cards Spanish and the back English.

Like everything, this comes with time. But i would say focus on building vocabulary such as through the method explained above, and the 'thinking' part will come the more you practice using it. The brain will stop 'translating' the more frequently you use the new words, ie, the more said words become familiar. After all, what really is a new language but an extended vocabulary? New words to describe stuff you already had words for.

muy útil! He tomando clases de español por muchos años pero tengo dificultad pensando en español. Especialmente porque no he tomado una clase por casi dos años.

Gracias por ver el video. Mira lo que tú tienes que hacer es repasar lo que aprendiste y seguir construyendo, seguir mejorando.
No necesitas las clases, tienes que poner lo que ya sabes en practica

You always have the best advice about resources & methods. I’ve followed them all & they really help! I’m speaking to Spanish speakers on Speaky almost on a daily basis. El problema que encontramos es hablantes nativos usan malas palabras, muletillas y palabrotas, como las en inglés. Debe ser difícil para un maestro. ¿Debe enseñar cómo hablar correctamente o cómo hablan diariamente?

That was the most Spanish intro that I think can be conceived of by mankind.
Also I'm in a shitty situation, I wanna learn Spanish because I look Spanish, my last name is Spanish, but because of my grandma i was never addressed in Spanish because she didn't want us (my brother, father and uncle) to have accents. So we all sound whiter than Christmas. Kind'a pissed about that. It would be so much easier if I knew it now rather than learning as an adult.

This is the problem with me. I understand Spanish but I start to think in English when I want to speak Spanish. Not only that but I first translate English to Portuguese and then to Spanish. It gets frustrating.
