Personally I can't tell the difference between vintage Kouros, and modern day Kouros! I've been wearing Kouros for about 40 years now on and off, and I really can't see the difference! I get huge compliments on the modern-day version and to be honest when I had the Vintage one years ago nobody ever commented on it! But Kouros is the boss of the 80s fragrances hands down with the vice fragrance Drakkar Noir following in second place in my opinion
I first wore Kouros in 1986. It was incredible! Last year, I bought a modern reformulation of Kouros and I was not impressed like I was in '86. The newer version is much spicier and less animalic than the 80's Kouros.
Yo, Lex! Just got my hands on a Parfums Corp version of Kouros and OMFG... you hit a homerun with your review here. I'm not a vintage snob, but the older formulations of Kouros absolutely murders the current formulation. I'm hooked. Next stops will be Kouros Fraicheur and Kouros Eau De Sport, which are rumoured to be even better than the King.
to this day kouros is the greatest fragrance I have ever smelled ,absolutely intoxicating this is pure masculine perfume not just a fragrance ....i have stuff I wear more just because its easier but nothing hits me like that smell of kourous ,they literally caught lightning in a bottle and it can never be topped ,those days have gone
@@LexEllis i was a kid in the 80s and let me tell you did i have some good nights in the early 90s wearing this stuff 😂😂.....its beyond words ,if you are from that era its like a time machine in liquid form ....i cant understand how anyone could dislike it ,,,,ok they may not wear it and i could see why but the smell is incredible
"THE SCENT OF GODS" ..man, you scored a big one there Lex! that juice is very hard to come by. I scored a vintage & discontinued flanker of Kouros - Kouros Fraicheur- also amazing potent juice. Awesome vid buddy!! :)
I love the way you talk about Kouros! I'm the lucky owner of two 2003-made bottles with the silver shoulders that I bought yesterday and, man, are the differences noticeable! While L'Oréal Kouros smells very good and performs well, this older version is ridiculously lavish and delightful. Greetings to you.
Good video, I had this in the mid 80s, the best made bottle and the best unique aroma I have ever had . It was either this or Paco Rabane them days, I preferred this much better.
hey Lex Ellis. I own own kouros, Aramis, Drakkar Noir, Bogart signature, brut, armaf CDNI, tres suit. I love kouros and brut. I consider only these two scents to be masculine. plz suggest other perfume in this line. hope for your kind response
Little tid bit about kouros. Back in the early 90's when i was a teen and first started wearing cologne. i'd go to the local mall and kouros was always the first bottle i smelled. i always ended up buying something else. but mighty korous was the scent I so loved so much, I could never get enough sampling it. At that time I believe i wasnt manly enough to handle wearing it though. Even back then we all knew kouros was a force and you had better have giant balls and confidence to rock it.
I have the old DG it's beautiful I'm wearing this tonight the DG that is I have a bad batch it smells like rubber and on my skin it last 5 minutes and I tried it at Kohl's and it was way better I always have loved this fragrance but I got had by fragrance.net I bought it for 80 dollars love your words about this one
Kouros is so strong that even the reformulations are still beasts and extremely masculine. 💪😎 Who cares if a woman might not like it. Wear whatever the fck you like, be a bloody man. At the end of the day, it is you who will be smelling it most of the time, not women. Vintage Kouros vs Vintage Ted Lapidus who wins?
Hunter Storm mcs Yes of course the originals from the first decade will always be the best. Any bottle with the metal shoulders and base is far superior to any one without. Latest reform is okay, but not worthy of the King status imo. I got my info here: raidersofthelostscent.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01/kouros-scent-of-gods-12.html
I picked up a bottle of Sak Pase by a house called Rich and Ruitz. It’s supposed to be a clone of Vintage Kouros. That stuff is incredibly strong. Lol. But incredibly beautifully masculine. I can feel what ur saying. Because I love the reform but from what I can smell the vintage is another universe. Very beautiful.
Hi. Could you please describe the biggest difference between the vintage and the recent one? Is the dirty side of the perfume more pronounced (more civet)? Kouros doesnt seem dirty to me. I can smell the civetone there, maybe that's the reason why it stays so long on my skin, but the cleaniness and soapiness prevail. It is thick and somewhat sour, but I like it in this case. So I assume there won't be much difference in longevity or projection. I only had a chance to get the 2014 version and I really love it. I really have to try the vintage though. Even if I realise that there is not a big difference, if any, to my nose.
+Boris Šlechta The latest formulation has okay performance but it smells a bit more soapy, less rich and a tad synthetic. The vintage has outstanding longevity and smells dirty and rich compared to the reformulation. Vintage 10/10 Reformulation 7/10 but still in the "Good" category
Pierre Bourdon took creed's orange spice and thought you know what I bet I can make a fragrance that smells exactly the same as this and hey Presto, Kouros was born! He did the same thing with Creed green Irish Tweed and created Cool Water. A little bit of trivia there
dspada67 I don't get much of a Kouros vibe from Lapidus...maybe 10% at most? I have not tried Fraicheur so I don't know, if you see it at a good price though definitely do pick it up!
I've noticed body kouros making an appearance in some shops now that kouros silver has come out. Kouros silver gets a lot of hate online but I like it. Love Ysl as a house so will see if I can track down vintage kouros. Great video.
Yeah, I kinda get the feeling ill be one of the few who like kouros silver :) at one point boots has it for £122 for 100ml which is on the way to a creed price. Think that's been corrected now. Thank goodness.
I really enjoy this one although it seems so polarizing. The recent formulation is quite on the soapy side, at least that's what I get, but it's still good in its own way and still love it. Whenever I wear this I feel like I put on the Iron Man suit, lol.
For you, Lex: Kouros, the king, is a beast, it's civet a heady release. Not for boys but for men, of wealth, honor, and then must be vintage, a true masterpiece!
Have yet to smell it .. but I proudly wear the original Givenchy Gentleman. Seems to have slight similarities based on your reviews. I’m 29 years old & wanting to stand out from the generic aqua smelling Invictus’s of the world. Great video..even though it’s from 2015 👍🏼
Lu-ckyyyyyyy... Really would like to get hold of this version or version, very jealous dude, ;) love the niche masculine spicy stuff, hate the usual stuff! great review!
hahaha. yo, gonna check this out again man, didn't give it much of a whiff the last time. Is the reformulation still worth the beans, or original only?
+Ritch Flynn Reformulation is still worth the beans imo, not a terrible scent, if the original is available? definitely get it though but if reform is the only option? you can't really go wrong :)
Nice. Decent discounts on that, and better still I don't need to blind buy, as I've seen it around. Pretty crazy it was the most expensive at the time, and that it was the maker of GIT!
The diference between the latest formulation and Gucci era kouros is really that big? I mean, god damn, I love this scent but if I smell the vintage you think I'm gonna love even more or change completely my mind about kouros? It's really that big of a deal??
+Duke Mode It's not a massive deal the modern one smells okay and still performs okay too, but the vintage has more going on and more of a "rich" vibe. The modern one is still a nice scent but it's more of "Prince Kouros" than "King Kouros"
I have grail vintage. It's a buttery sweet jasmine cologne. I don't get what's so uber masculine about it. It's almost like a jasmine cream filled buttery doughnut lol. If jasmine doughnuts were a thing it would taste how kouros smells.
I own the 1981 version big bottle. I own a factice of kouros from a store that was closing. Now looking for the mini to complete my collection. I was 16 when I purchased this in a pharmacy with my first summer check...there is nothing out there that smells like this... nothing. King kouros will outlast the energizer bunny believe that!
The new Kouros is easily ceramic, I think this one is too but not sure, Kouros went through a phase where they made plastic bottles, I hope mine is ceramic.

I still love it
Yup!

+Balázs Kóródi Agreed 100%!
Kouros bottles from the years 1981-1999 are significantly better than bottles after 2000. 2003 is already Kouros after first reformulation

Yes definitely!

I think it may be from the L'Oreal era.
According to this blog here: raidersofthelostscent.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01/kouros-scent-of-gods-12.html
