My almost 12yr old son is 5'2 about 125lbs. Not super strong yet. Has been riding a bmx walmart bike. He says its heavy. What size would you suggest. His dad is over 6ft. How long does a bike like this last. Estimate
Heather K get him the 20.5 and I’d say for his level it will probably last 3-4 years but you will eventually have to replace some parts but overall I highly recommend this
This frame will hold up for a beginner for a very long time. Unless he’s already a beast and going down 10 sets and getting huge air, most of those parts are good to go for awhile with regular maintenance. Definitely at least go for a %100 chromo frame for him. At the end of the day, you and him are entrusting a lot of safety into the bike and a frame or part failure is a sure fire way to get seriously injured.

FC?
Negative cassette
The 2020 wtp Reason has a FC and is 50 cheaper. Just got one 2 days ago. Be aware the fc has about 1/4 crank slack before engagement that cannot be adjusted.

bonkerz huntsdemons yeah. I managed to bash my knee on my stem first 360 cause I didn’t expect it. Besides the fc, these bikes have pretty close to the same parts. The Reason has about an inch to an inch and a quarter shorter chain stay and a 20.75 top tube.
