'Thrill' was on the 2014 3 song "single" 'Love, Passion, Matador', but did much better when it was reprised for the 2015 mini album 'New Beginning'. We were, yeah, thrilled when they brought back this song for the L.A. show in November. It had been about a year and a half since they had played it. They correctly guessed that the US audience would have seen the music video. Saiki seemed surprised at the loud call and response, and people singing along to the songs. They mentioned in an interview that they could clearly hear the crowd shout "Hey!" during this song, even with their ear monitors in. Even though they didn't write the music for this one (Miku contributed to the lyrics), it still has that great BAND-MAID sound. They've only gotten better since they've been given more creative control, and they write most of their own music and lyrics now. This one is so early that the bassist MISA is still wearing shoes and a cutesy maid outfit, and Saiki, the lead singer had not yet taken a pair of scissors to her apron. : )
This is the MV l stumbled across three years ago having no idea who or what it was. I watched it a few dozen times and tried to dismiss it but there was something about it that made me think it showed a lot of promise. So l started to follow the band even going as far as becoming a member of the official fan website in Japan. As l followed along, like most of you, l became a bigger and bigger fan as time passed. And now they are my favorite hard rock band working anywhere today and l will be seeing them in LA next month. Watching these young ladies grow and develop over time has been a joy. While Misa and Kanami are both graduates of the prestigious Tokyo Academy of Music and both were playing musical instruments around age three six years ago Miku could not even play an instrument and before Band-Maid's formation none of them had ever played rock music. While this was their first YT upload, and Miku had no idea how to play that guitar(she can now 5 years later), it is still a great riff, and set them off on their way. I listened to this many times once I found them because it is so catchy.

Akane had said in an interview from The Day Before World Domination Mook that the response they got from Thrill set the musical direction of the band and influenced them to include a lot more twin-pedaling into their music. She didn't have a proper foundation with the twin-pedals so she had to train herself to keep up with the tempo of Kanami's arrangements. Misa also said in an interview with BASS magazine that Thrill was when she started slapping. I think you said in the last video that you had joined the Band-Maid reddit, and there are quite a few people that have translated various interviews on there. Edit: Misa's using a 4 string bass here, she switches to a 5 string later and also has to train herself to get used to the different string spacing.
I still like this song, it showcases all the members. They did have competition with a Korean band called A-Fati that broke up in 2016, they are worth giving a listen to, they were quite talented.

They actually have some english in almost all of their songs, but the accent makes understanding a little trying. Videos with captions work great. I spent a few years in Japan and I love the way they mangle english. Their whole concept of the words can warp your mind. I would see advertising billboards and TV commercials with a lot of characters, then one or two words in english, then more characters. Funny as hell sometimes.
I remember from a past comment from someone who saw her that Akane's hat was a clear plastic band over her head and under her chin with the hat attached off to the side.
When they added the extra show in NY, I was concerned because they have to be in Dallas the next night. I really don't want to see them be run ragged or get burnt out. Dallas! Don't forget to wish Akane a happy birthday!

Now Saiki is one of the most charismatic frontman ever, Miku blasting those crispy chords, Kanami always outdone herself, Akane lost her little hat, and Misa..... she's still mysterious as ever.
