Confrontation: Breton and Nord Fight. Elder Scrolls Online Cinematic Trailer (Reformatted 16:9)

- Breton and Nord fighting in the final 4th chapter in the series of cinematic trailers from The Elder Scrolls Online. I decided to reformat this video to 1080p Full HD ratio (that is 16:9). Originally video was close to the movie widescreen ratio of 2,39:1. But if you don't have the monitor with that aspect ratio (and I very doubt that you do), you'll get "black lines" above and below video that I personally don't like. But I didn't simply "rescaled" the video - thus you would miss many important details, because in some frames the meaningful part is located not at the very center but on the left or right side of the frame. So, I cut the original video into 126 pieces defined by the scene and keyframes and imposed different scaling, spatial interpolation, i.e. transitions, to each of the pieces. Thus almost nothing notable material from the video was lost. Though in this particular video most frames were just centered.

The Bretons are a race of humans. They originate from High Rock but can be seen all over Tamriel. Some people sometimes call them "Manmeri" (man-elf). They belong to The Daggerfall Covenant so if you chose Bretons your allies will be Orcs and Redguards. Their homeland is High Rock - the western region which borders Skyrim and Hammerfell. The Bretons are an interesting race. They look like humans but have better magical talents due to their connection with elves. Their bodies are strong and their magical abilities allow them to use powerful spells. So they can be both good warriors and mages.
Nord is the first race of humans on the continent. They belong to The Ebonheart Pact so if you chose Nord your allies will be Dunmer and Argonians. Homeland of Nords is Skyrim. Nord is the first human race that arrived in Tamriel. They do not have anything special except fair hair. They are more muscular than most other races. Only orcs are larger. They have strong bodies and they are good melee warriors. Many of them live in Skyrim - land of ice, mountains and snow. Nords respect strength and they are prideful people who like glory and honor.
nords: human orcs (basically)
bretons: human high elves
Slade Wilson orcs : elfish nord
dark elves: elfish redguards
if you catch my meaning (no offense)
What a dumbass to think that way
Is that supposed to be an insult? Orcs are great warriors, and despite their appearance and name, they’re actually quite civilized
@@afungai1649 ooga booga ?
The Breton likely was re-animated using a spell similar to the "Dead Thrall" spell that the Dovahkiin can use in Skyrim. I love playing a conjurer, destruction type mage who uses quick, one handed weaponry like daggers. And I've made a lot of builds revolving around having a couple of powerful undead who follow me around and attack my foes. But when the Dead Thralls die, they often say, "At last.." or "Thank you...", as if the necromantic spell that bound them was causing them great spiritual harm to their souls.
The Breton here, in spite of being an undead, quietly pleads for the elf to end his life mercifully, which she grants. It makes me think about the kind of character I want to build in Skyrim, and while the Dead Thrall spell is certainly very powerful, whether or not it's a spell that's best left for the most extreme of characters.
I usually go high elf, and since they're magically gifted I use an alteration, conjuration, destruction combo, it's frickin OP

Oscar award goes to the NORD for the most threatening spit ever
this is such a beautifully choreographed fight..
they square off the nord sizes him up.. typical breton, nothing he hasnt killed 100 times before.. - attack
the breton is much faster and more agile than the nord realizes
fight resets
Nord realizes he cant beat this breton with wild swings, changes his grip and switches to close quarters style combat
the breton is overconfident, and thinks he is in no danger, they trade blows, the nord overpowers him, and thinks to drop him off the edge like the garbage he has become..
but the breton is playing possum, and uses the opportunity to gravely injur the nord's dominant arm..they trade more blows and nord somewhat weakened. the breton is able to best him and puts both his swords in him, thinking its over.. he pauses.
but he vastly underestimates the endurance and tenacity of a nord, and the nord with blades still inside him, overpowers him, and finishes him.
then.. insulted by the insolence of the breton, and disgusted by the fact hes corrupted, pays him the ultimate disrespect and cleans his blade with the breton's wife's marriage ribbon
he throws it on the ground away from the breton so he can die broken and alone, and walks away, triumphant.
Then the nord gets sent to coldharbour lmof
Except the nord had already seen what the breton was capable of, he definitely wasn't underestimating him here lol.
@@GangBanger3000 the Nord probably respected the Bretons skill as instead of just unceremoniously throwing him off the platform he tried to let gravity do the job and he ended up paying for it.
Then the Nord was way too pissed off at the end to even respect his opponent at all seeing that he just swats away his hand.
Nords are cunts but they are mad powerful cunts
Triston Quinones The Nordic escapes.
I like how the breton looked at the elf as if saying please free me.

For everyone voting for the breton. Let me tell you why he lost even if he was badass. He was meant to be more of a rogue character showing of the rogue-esque class, while the nord was clearly representing the warrior(dragonknight i think) class. In a fight like that, considering the breton was undead and cursed and he died around the age of 30, where clearly from the scars and build and grey hair and long beard, that the nord was around 50 or 60, and that he had a looot of experience in combat, which from the start was bad news for the breton.
he also got a rusty ass sword
It was actually for the best that the Breton ended up dying. He was basically freed from his curse.
The One Grimnir Still got sad he seemed to be a superior fighter but couldn't get past his opponents armor enough to do any real damage. Also looks like he was a lot weaker in physical comparison to the Breton
Lachlan Pitcher He's not.
This. he died released from his curse and he looked kinda happy to be free and finally going to rest. Chances are he was aware of being cursed but was incapable of doing anything. A bitter sweet ending for the nord.
Although 2 blades to the gut would floor anyone, doesnt' matter how tough you are
I can’t help but shake the feeling that while there is no shortage of deep-seated hatred, anger and bitterness between the Nord and Breton, they have some Degree of Respect for one another
was I the only one voting for the breton?
3:08 that nord's a dick
To be fair, the Breton did kinda kill his squad mates, shoot him twice, and stab him twice.
Pug Life true, but still.
The nord is only a dick because of dramatic irony.
+Vic Boss wait I couldn't tell what he did at 3:08 what did he do?
Well, that bretpn was no milk drinker.
NORD MASTER RACE
mother land : bordeciel
I was definitely rooting for the Nord, it's just sad though because I wish they could have been friends at the end. Like the nord hit him so hard it broke the possession that was over the breton lol
hit Him Sorry
I hate the way the Breton dies because it makes him appear weak which is annoying because I think he should be given more credit. Don't get me wrong, the Nord and the Mage are pretty cool too and personally my build is a Nord warrior type with heavy armour and a war hammer but in the cinematics I really liked the Breton and his fight scene. So yeah I just think that him dying was annoying but seriously his fighting was so cool amirite?
it definitely was the corruption that weakened him, you could see on his face everything was deteriorating so imagine whats going on elsewhere on his body-though the Nord should have part of the upper hand in the close combat even though he barely walked away from the encounter
yes but he did die a peacfull death thx to elf

Toastable Pie The Nords are douches drove the Snow elves out of Tamriel.
Henry Ward the Kosciuszko Lion lol elves don't stand a chance against a Nord
Henry Ward the Kosciuszko Lion The Snow Elves attacked expanding Nord settlers unprovoked and massacred men, women, and children by the hundreds.
Ygramor and 500 of his champions exacted Nordic Vengeance on the warriors of the Snow Elves, crushed them, and forced them to flee into the "safe" hands of the dwarves underground, and were then betrayed by the dwarves, experimented on, and turned to Falmer.
So, Nah. Dwarves were the real douches there.
As much as the game had awesome looking armor,
I'd like to agree with you on that one.
That's why there are mods out there to be downloaded for Skyrim.
I vote for the Breton, cuz the Racismcloak didn't get my favor back in Skyrim, and his fur cloth looks kinda nice too.

To everyone thinking the Breton wasn't done justice, he was just as skilled of a fighter as the Nord. What it came down to was pure brute force. A good big fighter will always beat an equally skilled small fighter, and even some smaller fighters that are a little better, purely because it's really tough to argue with mass.
Nolan Cartledge exactly. The nord used brute strength. And no ones body can put up with the stuff the nord did to hi.
So did the Breton have his corruption removed by the Elf? Or did he just die?
Why not both?
it was both
Xohetzal it wasn't a corruption. That's his racial skill, remember? In Skyrim bretons have a skill called Dragon Scale. In the end it deactivated and he died
Peter Fox no it's because mannimarco turn him into some kind of thall he doesn't have that look until the point when you see him look up and his horse his now undead, he didn't have it at the beginning
Xohetzal cleansed by death
3:21, What music did they use for this part?
Realistically, the nord would've been dead, or unable to fight after he was stabbed
No not really

that nordic armor looks like plastic XD. tbh i thought that the Breton was a nightingale when i saw the very first trailer with him in it.

So is no one gonna talk about the male elf with the white hair?
i didnt know this game existed shit looks cool
Just wish that Breton was a savage af bosmer tht be so sick 🔥
If the game was only half this good
so the ending, who wins? between the nord and that other guy?
I really don't understand why people think that the Breton should have won. Fact is he was less armored is self-preservation lower due to the fact that he was Undead and there's all kinds of magical Shenanigans happening some of which is clear others which are not. The Britain use poison why would this matter to a Dragonite who's in heavy armor and has a significantly stronger Constitution than a regular human being, the Nord was also wearing heavy armor or at least have ear armor so that all the kicks and punches and even elbows would not have had nearly the same effect as it would on someone wearing say half plate or leather or chain mail that played really really would dampen a lot of the force of his blows and the sharpness of a painful blow would also be no by plate as for the Nords previous wounds I'm assuming that he has some kind of healing Factor that's again a little bit higher than anybody present simply because at the end of the day he is the representation of a warrior in a magical world. Was it possible for the breading to win of course but that doesn't take away from the fact that this was a good fight scene and also that this is the typical outcome of 2 Fighters who have the same level of experience but are in two different weight classes, the Nord being heavier more used to direct combat open combat even had the advantage from go, basically has fire resistant to pain more strength and arguably the same level of ability as the Bretton Wood but more for open combat then say assassination or stealth. I like this fight scene but I saw the end coming as to how it turned out because again it boils down to what was happening and who has more advantages in open combat or one-on-one combat.
What I don't understand is why the Breton didn't use Magic. That's like, their thing.
Low Standards not all Bretons can use magic, they are the best at it of the human races, but that doesn't mean every one can use it
That guy makes Darth sidious look like supermodel
Man that breton picked the wrong class, should have rolled sorcerer.
Keyon Eubanks ikr
He rolled a stamblade as a Breton. That’s error number one.

@@GigaflareInNeutral Not anymore
@@Ser_Thaddeus Why? Just curious.
1:19 is so fucking cool. we only see the nord's hand move closer to the head of the axe but what this implies is that the Nord sized his enemy up and realized he was dealing with one fast opponent, so the nord surmised that he needed to change his approach to this fight by having a firmer grip on his axe, enabling him to execute quicker swings instead of heavy, damage-dealing ones. this is immediately demonstrated by the change of pace in the fight after he changes his grip. it shows both how battle-hardened and intelligent the nord really is and what an agile and formidable opponent the breton is. perfect juxaposition, all demonstrated in one momentary close-up. this fight sequence is brilliant.
Alright English teacher, going to teach us bout mice and men now?
@@jamesmurrii9868 mice and men?
I noticed it as well. Love how it’s almost a sign of respect from the Nord, in his own way, of a very dangerous opponent.
Makes me wonder how well the Breton would have done had he not been turned undead.
I doubt he would have won but maybe he would’ve been more cautious, more sneaky.
@@TheCombatMedic1 surprised someone got that, 👍🏼
That Breton was the selling point of the game for me since day 1. He never loses his composure, and the way he rougishly deflects and parry's attacks like assassins creed is just wonderful.
The Nord was Epic a strong warrior and probably the hero here
What class/multiclass would he be in dnd? I'm working on a character sheet.
I was thinking maybe

Rogue: Assassin
Or maybe
Ranger: Gloomstalker
Rogue: Assassin

The Quiet Man I mean the job was done wasn't it? Degenerates that think you can keep perfect stance in actual combat is pathetic.
The Quiet Man isn't a nord. I carried on what u were sayin
The Quiet Man well he could be holding half haft which is a thing irl to reduce distance bc he's fighting a swords man it also reduces swing time and the use of stamina in real life
The Quiet Man its to shorten the distance meaning he gets quicker attacks. Combat wasn't as simple as you'd think.
The Quiet Man he put it near the end of his hand so he could punch with it dumb ass 😂

Connor Bruno should be a damn bosmer assassin xD
They're worse than orcs.

That Nord should have been dead. The Breton stabbed him with both his knife and his sword. Even if the Nord hadn't died instantly, he would have still bled out once the blades were taken out of him.

This is why an Assassin should never ever go one v one with a barbarian. Yes you may hurt the barbarian. But the barbarian will kill you.
Crazyscotsman i agree with you but some assassins are stronger than barbarians depending on the knowledge and training
Crazyscotsman the assasins go for the cheeky kill not 1 on 1 combat. This shows that they should diferent ways to trick and outnsart the enemies rather than fifht them.
Crazyscotsman I started a second run with an assassin character recently. He is extremely fast and most of the time, does not even take a hit. Of course, I have a few mods installed, but the only ones affecting his speed are Ordinator (I take all speed enchancing perks), SoT (I have Potions of Haste, which make my character several times faster, which I only use in the toughest fights, and last but not least, Witchhunter spells (not as well known as the other two, but still a very good mod, especially if you want some magic on your weapon without enchantments), which has Enchanced Reflexes (slows down time until you hit an enemy or cast a spell), Blinding Speed (stops time until you hit an enemy), and Prayer to Jyggalag, a power that, once a day, stops time for 15 seconds. The result is a one man army. I plan not to use followers anymore, as some of my character's better combat abilities are friendly fire-y. TL;DR: Assassins can too be badass fighters.
Crazyscotsman lol not really, if the assassin is well trained with speed and techniques it can easily overpower them
mind you an assassin should have a different assortment of weapons depending on who and what he's going to fight, a sword against...... whatever the nord was wearing? :p i know its fantasy but come on it was a bit cheesy. two worlds 2 cinematic fight between Sordahon and the orc was more real.
Love how the nord changes up his fight style after soundly losing the first round. It's a cool touch seeing him raise his grip and start throwing punches to match the bretons speed a bit better.
Never fight an old man when he works where men die young
Cringe, it’s an animation
Have you ever fought an old man that you um, you had, you'll t-, you would, you could, you do, you would, you want you, you could do some, you... you'll do, you could you, you want, you want him to do you so much you could do anything?
Cinematic: Epic fight between two equally skilled opponents
Real game fight: The Breton goes invisible and one shots the Nord from 2 miles away.
what is that nord build of? a lot of arrows and sword wounds and it still doesn't slow him down, if his that damn good, i wonder how the dragonborn is like
nords are really strong
+Ty Thule thx
Nords are the best warriors besides orcs in terms of hw much punishment they can take.
He's just a Nord, they keep on trucking through the punishment.
Black Api And the more angry they are the stronger they are.
In terms of pure skill as a swordsman compared to skill as an axeman, the Breton is far more superior. He's got that snappy speed to him that outmatched the Nord in addition to that. Buuuuuut the Breton underestimated the nords strength and his endurance. The Nord got stabbed twice with a sword and with the dagger with a punctured forearm and he kept fighting, I don't think the Breton expected him to keep going after the stabbings, but he did.
The fact the Breton was reanimated wasn't helpful overall, because he could obviously take more of a beating in his undead form (smashing into a pillar would break his back and head butted with enough force to shatter his nose) but it seemed to make him more careless and not as focused.
I believe he would have still lost in his human form, but he also would've exacted a heavier toll at the end of the fight compared to his undead form.
Kinda like the viper vs the mountain.
Those wounds didn't affect the nord becuase he ate 7 cheese wheels in the midst of battle
I don't think he was careless, I think he just wanted to die and thought if anyone could kill him the nord could, its probably why he fought semi honorably (I use that loosely as a way to say he fought one on one) otherwise if the Breton actually wanted him dead and also wanted to walk away then he probably would have sent a well placed shot in the eye. I say the eye cause he would be capable, this is someone who could throw multiple knives through armor gaps at close range

Badass Breton. Nice clip. I just don't like how the Nord hits the pillar with the axe.... Unrealistic that he would do this
In a world filled with magic, elves, and talking cats.
But hitting a pillar is unrealistic to you...
After Altmer leaved Breton, alone, what happened to him? Breton healed, or Cleanesed from that poison? And what happened to that Necromancer, who did Breton to an undead?
The Breton has returned in recent trailers. He apparently survived and was cleansed from his corruption and became a necromancer I think
happend to him Save Him Breton
The elf used magic to free him from the corruption and cut his throat as part of the ritual I assume (probably blood magic or some form of dark magic) the Breton freed from the cursed form and healed by the elf took an interest in dark magic and trained in the necromancy. Being a Breton he found he had a natural affinity for it and that’s why he uses necromancy now.
If the breton didn't be zombied he would won because he would had strategy, better weapons and he would used his brain. There he only fought instincivly without reflexion and he almost won

Nords are stronger than Bretons in weapons. Bretons are stronger than Nords in magic but you can use magic in a pretty far distance but for a Nord you have to be up close so in a sword and magic combat I'll say Magic is the winner.

I see the best build for the Breton is a half-caster/battlemage type. I like being able to use powerful magic for distant combat, then using a one-handed weapon for close combat all without switching weapons. Just saying, if this Breton used magic, that Nord would have died.
