I've been playing drums for 5 years alone and never heard about those great warmups ! Very very useful, instantly grabbed my drumsticks to try playing them on my legs !
I'm a HUGE advocate of applying drumline exercises to drumset (where appropriate). Legato strokes, accent taps, doubles, and flam exercises are my favorites. I encourage all young drummers to join their high school drumline! You'll learn reading, technique, and possibly most importantly: Discipline!
Thomas Lang has a video where he was putting rudiments to a kit (moving them around, playing on bass drums, etc.). It was very creative, and helpful for applying the basics ot kit drumming.
Love this! She is such an inspiration. I use all of these or a slightly different version for warm ups and teach them to students. Great set of warm up exercises. But what a joy to see her present them. 👍👍👍
I'm a new drummer! When I say new I mean new! I'm 58 and love drums! I've taken piano and sax but drums there's nothing like them! You are an inspiration and Thank You for you videos! You ROCK!!!
She is very much right these are a the foundations of warmups I’d personally recommend playing around with some like 8-8-16 and it’s 8 on a hand but you play 16 every third time with whatever hand when it alternates
Was my warm up every morning, lunch and evening for 4 years!!!! Thanks to Mr. J. Richins my school had the cleanest drum line 4 years in a row!!! AdrenaLINE
I've been learning hugadigaburrs already but without knowing this is what they're called. When I do them, the first brrrrr is doubles, second brrr is singles, then the third, longer brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr is doubles into singles.
While I love what she shared, I often wonder if the sound/tone produced is different from Dave Weckl/Freddie Gruber's approach? I tend to think the former (drumline style) is firm and tight, latter being loose and flowy...
It's the Drumeo P4 Practice Pad. Check it out here: www.drumeo.com/drumshop/practice-pad-full/ OR get one free right now with Drumeo Edge: www.Drumeo.com

Dorothea is a national treasure and she needs to be treasured. What a beautiful human being and drummer.
These warm ups were the meat and potatoes that helped shape the drummer I am today. Every day we played these in drum line to warm up. Great Video!
