    Djungelvrål is very popular here in Norway too and I remember buying huge travel edition bags from the Tax Free stores whenever travelling when I was younger. Today those huge bags are too much for me lol so I'm settling for the smaller bags found in grocery stores. They're delicious though and I think you've gotta be Nordic to really appreciate the taste of them. Having that said, of course a non-Nordic person could grow an appreciation for them after having had them a few years. But I guess it's either you hate it or you love it lol. We Nordics sure love our liqourice! It was fun meeting your friend Erick, I just followed him on Twitter and on his RUclips (although there's no content there yet but excited to see what will be posted there). Happy Halloween! 🎃👻😱

    Choosing 1 single lösgodis is like choosing 1 single food item from a buffet or julbord.. the best part is the variation of flavors. :) have a salty followed by a sweet and a sour and a fruity, there isn't too much of a single flavor. :)

    Lördagsgodis was in fact something dentists suggested; having sweets once a week didn't damage the kids' teeth so much compared to being given sweets now and then during the week. They probably advocated toothbrushing afterwards...
    Halloween is, as somebody said, something that made its way to Sweden during the 90's. Before that, Lucia was the big party day.

    • @JustaBritAbroad
      @JustaBritAbroad  3 года назад

      interesting Staffan! guess they recommended waiting for an hour or so after you've eaten the sweets though before brushing, because I've heard it damages your gums to do it too soon after sugar🤔

    • @onomatopoetisk
      @onomatopoetisk 3 года назад +3

      Researchers found out that sugar was worse for your teeth eating a small amount often rather than all at once by doing experiments that have been very critizised for beeing unethical; the Vipeholm experiments.
      The Vipeholm experiments were a series of human experiments where patients of Vipeholm Hospital for the intellectually disabled in Lund, Sweden, were fed large amounts of sweets to provoke dental caries (1945-1955). The patients or their relatives were not asked for consent to participate in the study, they did it anyway.
      Not a proud moment of Swedish history or research, but it did give us more insight on dental caries. 😕

    • @paulahagstrom158

      It is called "vomit flavour" becauce they add something that taste really different and weird comparied to other brands. And CAN be found in vomit. Heard it was a WW2 thing, they wanted to sell chocolate but the chocolate was expensive so it was blended or mixed out with this vomit flavour thing. The american soldiers got used to eat them during the war. So when the war ended and they got back home they continued to eat it. Hersey tried to change it back to more normal chocolate flavour and less vomit, but people didn't want it so they stayed with the bad tasting one.
      I guess it is a matter of what you grew up with and what you are used to. I love chocolate, but I too can never eat a Hersey chocolate becauce of the flavour.

      Jag tror du blandar ihop Halloween och Alla helgon här. Alla helgon har ingenting med att klä ut sig och är då många tänder ljus vid anhörigas gravar.
      Halloween firas alltid 31 oktober och består av en enda dag. Firandet har sitt ursprung i förkristen tid, då kelterna uppmärksammade de döda. En del av firandet bestod i att man tände eldar och klädde ut sig för att skrämma onda andar.
      Allhelgonahelgen består av två dagar - alla helgons dag och alla själars dag. Det finns alltså ingen dag som kallas för alla helgons afton eller allhelgonaafton.
      Alla helgons dag infaller alltid en lördag mellan 31 oktober och 6 november. I år är det alla helgons dag 6 november. Då har det vuxit fram en tradition att besöka gravar och tända ljus, men från början var det en dag då helgonen firades.

    I am surprised did not try any Marabou Swedish chocolate, or the taxi cabs. Since I am of Finnish origin.. I am partial to Fazer candies and all things licorice made in Finland. If your American friend tried Turkish Pepper, Panterri, or any other type of licorice treats he would pass out.
