Excellent interview. Two intelligent, articulate and well mannered gentlemen talking about music. Big credit to the female reporter who was able to listen instead of asking questions. That gave Jimmy Page & David Coverdale the chance to talk freely and without interruptions.
Jimmy Page is one of the most interesting people to listen to talking. He's got such a calming voice, his presence is the same. (Until he gets on stage, then the magic starts to happen!) I'm fortunate to have seen both Jimmy and David live, (David with Whitesnake).
And Smart. T There not like 'Aguilera and Britney?" whom just wake up in Hollywood and just say 'Im beautiful, your beautiful and lets make a Hit!' They carefully shared can we do this, the logistics and can we make it.
I've thought about that before. There is definitely Something about those British men...Intelligence talented and gorgeous! Gosh, who could ask for more! They came to America in February of 1964. I was a senior and almost 18, I fell madly in love with George Harrison. I was entranced by his looks....the handsome face, dark.long hair and those eyes. My best friend was in love with Paul and we had a BIG plan in place to meet and marry them! I laugh when think about it now, because I met my future husband the next year in college!🤣
Despite their stellar careers at the end of the day the Product has to be of good quality. And it was. Coverdale Page album was a terrific Rock album it really delivered. Pity there wasn't a follow-up
Def the best page played since zep and have to give it up to David for stepping up to the plate. Good for him to be able to play with one of his icons. What a life
that deep speaking voice of mr coverdale is fascinating when you think about it how high he can sing. "most guitarists take a song as an excuse to come to the solo"....haha...that was hilarious.
Page is the best electric / rock guitar player ever, better than than Hendrix imo (jimi did it first and theres no doubt page stole some stuff off him, but over all i prefer page).
Some good songs, but think the FIRM was better... it was odd that Robert made some , say, jealous comments during this period as he was well on with his solo career, and really had made it a point to doing his own thing and separated himself from zeppelin days, in every interview when pictures at 11, a great album, came out he clearly says he's moved on, and that he wouldn't go back to a band situation and he's been true to that, even after great success with the reunion appearances and other projects with page, Coverdale opened himself up to a lot of criticism by stepping into this project and was called a Plant clone, when actually there were so many Plant clones, so many bands singers used him as a template to fashion themselves after that Jimmy could have released a dozen albums with a different singer on everyone of them. It's too bad for us all Robert and Jimmy and Jones didn't get together and create more music together the chemistry and creativity they shared was always magical, even now i wish they would put out an album, many want a tour still, i say no an album would be better, a tour right after celebration day would have been great, but at this point it would be better to have that one last creative experience from them, that will be around for people to enjoy, we all can't get to a last go round tour, but we would all buy an album.
Completely agree, I really am curious what music they would make. They could even exploit the fact that nearly any artist would be willing to work with them and include them in the project...kind of a victory lap As far as the reunion it seemed like they did so much work to do just one show.. a few multiple night shows on different continents would have been really cool but at least we have the O2
I lost all respect for Plant. Page took him when he was a young unknown punk and put him in a band that couldn’t fail. He owes everything to Page. Plant knew page wanted to make another zeppelin album and he wouldn’t do it. He was egoistic and arrogant. Then the way he trashed Coverdale every chance he got showed how jealous he was. Funny the criticism started after Coverdale made it big in America. Plant who ripped off Steve Marriott and every blues singer before him complains about singers ripping him off.
God damn, Jimmy dragged the shit out of Coverdale. I met Coverdale in 87, for reference and (Campell, Vandenberg, and Aldrige). Backstage at the old Reunion Hall Arena an then a again a week later in El Paso. Campbell was the kindest.
i still like page coverdale till this day especially tracks like shake my tree over now feeling hot don.t leave me this way absolution blues and whisper a prayer for the dying
That album they did was a million times better than what Page did with Plant after. However, I don't think there are any hard feelings between Plant and Coverdale these days. That was all media shit!
When 'White Snake' hit MTV I saw Coverdale as a joke. No one in Rock tried to use their looks for success. If Robert Plant had tried, he wouldn't have been one of the epic singer of GOAT. Sure he had a perfect body, yet it was his voice & Page's guitar riffs and performance that had reeled in every generation from day one to forever! 🇬🇧🎸🎤💓
Well, Coverdale was long before an epic singer fronting one of the biggest rock band in the 70s: Deep Purple! In the MTV era he was in his late 30s already and his voice was still great.
Whitesnake didn't "hit" MTV. You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. You are a fool if you think Robert Plant wasn't dying his hair blond and was the first to do so.
Good album. Any and every thing involving Jimmy Page was good. I resented David Coverdale back then, and that was my mistake. I was just annoyed at Robert Plant.
It's nice to hear rock stars saying nice things about each other. On another note, If i were a white american rock star these men would give me a complex. Hahahah. I loved Eddie Van Halen but he sounded brain dead compared to these blokes.
Not a great album by Page and Coverdate. I bought it but the tape got chewed up and I never wanted to replace it. David Coverdale at that time was so much cooler than Page or Plant after 1987. He was better looking than Plant and his sound was modern digital, unlike Page whose best work was pre-1975 and thus it sounded ancient. How long was it before Jimmy kicked David to the curb and took up with Plant again? I went to see Page and Plant in concert and through a whole song there was pendulum of spittle hanging from Page's mouth. I noted that Plant looked at him as he got closer and there was a look on his face as if to say: Why am I here with this guy? Coverdale should never have done this album. He should have continued with modern great guitarists. He would have weathered grunge better, but after Coverdale did this he was like a relic from the past trying to be a "David cover-version" of Robert Plant. Coverdale had the advantage over Plant, but by working with Page - Coverdale lost his good image.
Page's drink problem got pretty bad on those Page & Plant tours judging by news reports, that Page got arrested on the plane! Could be one of the reasons Robert didnt want to carry on...
Page/Plant tour in the 90’s was brilliant. It was massive and a celebration everywhere they went! Robert is gorgeous!! Naturally beautiful. Led Zeppelin. was magnificent!! Page hasn’t worked with Coverdake in over. 30 years. They wanted to keep the Led Zeppelin legacy in tact. I don’t think Robert ever cared. He has a master legacy !!

I love it when David refers to Jimmy as, " His Lordship".
😆 and ❤

David loves Jimmy Page just as much as anyone I won't get down on him because he got up and sang with Jimmy Page and that's awesome
Jimmy Page & David Coverdale two rock legends.❤❤
These two made a great album 👌
Damn….David Coverdale was such a hottie in this interview.
Page to manager "Robert won't come out to play, get me another" Manager "job done" very underrated album and live shows looked pretty good.
I could listen to DC read a menu!! Such a voice!
They should never have stopped.❤
I think that the magic of Led Zeppelin could go on, with Sir Coverdale as voice...
👍, an Excellent 'what if'
One of the top 10 in my list of top shelf albums. Every cut is just pure brilliance
Красавчики❤ Обсолютные таланты!!! Красивейший голос и бесподобная гитара🎸
Terrific album - Coverdale's voice is really ragged, but Jimmy's BEST playing and writing post-Zeppelin more than saves the day.
These two did produce some great music. I really wanted to see a live show from them; but their tour cancelled.
David Coverdale is so well spoken.

They probably stopped traffic, because everyone was checking whether it was Robert Plant.
I think you're right. He sure could be mistaken for Robert!
Not really, 1993 nobody cared about anything (in rock music) but grunge. Which was sad…

So the Robert they are talking about at the end is Robert Plant?
I wish the music was louder. I could still hear them talking just barely.
Great collaboration Great album. Grunge ruined the tour got cancelled (japan happened)
6:29, Page is first and for most a rythm guitar player, that's why he approaches his craft differently than other guitarrists.
God damn, Jimmy dragged the shit out of Coverdale.

Tttttttttttttttttttttttttttt hi uh
Very good album.
Anybody hear anything about the Coverdale Page re-release or reunion or extra songs or anything? Next year I heard but no concrete information.

Deep Purple liked the cassette tape that Coverdale sent them.

Page’s best non zeppelin work on that album.
Gonna get it.
@@latkagravas986 if you likenPages hard rock stuff you will love it. Not Coverdale’s best imo.
