Thank you! Under 5 minutes you taught me a thing I needed to learn for decades! You also just cut my time in half searching for correct socket size 🎉

Thanks for the tips! I use a MM calipers a lot in my day to day use but need to bust out the imperial tape measure for bigger jobs. I understood the 16ths well enough but your tips on skipping to reduced fractions like 8/16 a 1/2 and counting backwards will definitely speed things up.

It’s funny, I had a guy working for me who didn’t have 1/8ths down yet, so I’d call out measurements to him like 5 1/2 fat fat (5 5/8) or 5 1/2 thin thin (5 3/8). And that’s how we cheated our way into 1/8ths lol.

Excellent video! Thank you so much. I’ve never been able to read a tape measure and have to have my husband help me. Love this channel!

Hi Joe, hey you are hired to work at Tony's cabinet shop, my dad, only problem is, the shop ain't there anymore. I was out of college almost two years and working at dad's shop for the first time at the age of 22, and I would only get interested in loose chair repair. why? Because I could not read a tape measure, wow, so this was a very interesting video for me if you can dig that. never did like cabinet building anyway, as it made way too much dust, and besides, I was hauling in more money than those guys because they took so long to finish their jobs and I was like in and out the door with stuff weekly so much they knick named me .....the barber.
