- IMPORTANT UPDATE:
After a while Windows may revert your drivers back to old versions since these are not digitally signed. To prevent this, there are two options:
If you have a Pro version of windows, follow this tutorial to prevent automatic driver updates:

ALSO make sure in GeForce Experience (if you installed it) that automatic driver updates are not enabled.

Hopefully this works for you guys. I don't know if this works universally but hopefully it impacts as many people as possible. It's a relevant fix if:
If your driver installer says:
NVIDIA Installer Cannot continue
This NVIDIA graphics driver is not compatible with this version of Windows.
This graphics driver could not find any compatible graphics hardware.
OR:
NVIDIA Installer failed
Graphics Driver failed

Hey Trevo. Finally sorted it out. Ended up having to run a clean install of Wn 10 and run all updates. This didn't work for me, but I just wanted to say that your attitude and your willingness to help strangers is as rare as it is excellent. 11/10
Hey man sorry that's what you had to resort to, ive talked to a couple other people that had the same conclusion. It seems sometimes these errors are a Windows issue rather than an Nvidia issue... But it's hard to say. I appreciate the kind words!

Hi, I did the same for the Fermi architecture Geforce 820m, whose support was discontinued, and I installed the 425 driver, but after the installation, some applications started not seeing the video card and the nvidia control panel stopped working, can I fix it?

I need a little help. In device manager I have only one display driver. I don't know if I have a built in display driver. I don't want to start this only to get a black screen I can't come back from so I have the i7-3920XM with the Quadro k5000m. Any help before I start would be greatly appreciated. Thx O.K. I found out I do have an integrated Intel HD graphics 4000 in the processor so I'm gonna tackle this and let y'all know how it turns out. Here's hoping...

Tip for asus laptop users: if you cannot see the microsoft display adapter... Go into armoury crate and change gpu power saving to standard in system and you will be able to see it!
For me “4060 TI” is not even listed at all in the cig file and I had to create it? It still didn’t work

Nice but nvidia control panel shows u just a 2 things and i cant disable vsync and it fucks up almost every game is there a fix i even reinstalled fully my pc tryed everything and it didnt work, no issues with the drivers overall just the control panel

Hey man, thanks for the video. Your steps helped device manager to recognise my external 3080ti gpu. When i turn on wifi and go into geforce experience, it says no driver found and leads me to download the same version driver that ive already edited through your video, then express install and it does nothing. Brings me back to express/custom install (no driver found) message. Upon system restart, code 43 error shows up. I do have an onboard GTX 1070 and I'm trying to hook up my 3080ti via Alienware's Graphics amplifier.

I couldn't find my gpu model in the display driver folder.
I have bought a 3050 and the hardware ID doesn’t show up in any of the .inf file. Contacted Nvidia and it was the usual “update Windows, restart PC”, and of course it didn’t work :(
If your hardware ID isn't there, try making a new line at the top with your card's information.

When I clicked edit to find my ID for my graphics card it said the ID couldn’t be found

nvidia driver saya udah diupdate ke yang paling baru tapi saat saya mau express installation ngeloop gitu jadi setelah selesai ada express installation lagi, seperti ada yang ngeblock gitu, terus saat buka nvidia control panel juga tidak bisa, udah coba downgrade ke win10 tetap tidak bisa, udah di reinstall juga tidak bisa, tapi di device mananger ada vganya tapi ada exclamation mark(!).my laptop is acer nitro,ada yang bisa bantu?

Did exactly the same workes the nvedia driver appeared but the nvedia control panel doesn't work neither the gforce experience application.

Microsoft basic adapter is not shown in device manager plzzzzzz what should i doo, i added it as a legacy hardware and it is added now with caution logo, but if i right click, details, property, hardware ids is not shown in the section
