Ren gave us a little history lesson in part one and here’s the economics class. It takes a very clever and flexible mind to break down a complex topic in a way that everyone can understand it. To then do it using a well known nursery rhyme? And in the form of rap? Ren is a genius. And now that you know the chorus from the first two songs… think about the video for Money Game 3. Oh rain rain rain rain…
At the end of the 19th century in America lobster was so plentiful and cheap a law was passed saying employers could not save money by feeding their servants lobster every day. Today due to massive over harvesting, the lobster population has nearly collapsed. That's why it's now so expensive. (Or maybe lobster fishermen saw Ren's video and are hiding all the lobsters on an island somewhere.)
Diamonds mate, diamonds where never as rare as we were lead to believe. They basically got together (the mine owners) and fabricated the rarity by releasing an agreed upon amount into the market at a time.
You asked us for an example of something we should have a right to, that they try to sell us, you said it and didn't realize it. In 2022 water became a commodity on the NY Stock Exchange for the first time ever!! That's some Mad Max Thunderdome ish right there! My fav bar in this track..... "Swallow all your morals, they're a poor man's quality".
The top item we pay for that we shouldn't have to is healthcare. You are never more vulnerable than when your health is on the line, but corporations are allowed to withhold unless we pay what they say we have to.
Now go back and watch MG3 and you will hopefully notice how Ren has included the chorus without actually singing it by using the mirror at the beginning and the rain at the end. To me the MG1 is about how we are held hostage to a game we didn't even know we were playing and how easily manipulated we are; MG2 is about how the powers that be manipulate us and how they play the game and MG3 is about how we are indoctrinated into the game by our families and how greed plays a part in all this. Next, I think you should go for Seven Sins. The titular song in his Sick Boi album and gives you a glimpse into how much he has had to deal with. Troubles is also another good one for this. Both are rapped.
Lobsters are often considered the "cockroaches of the sea", due to their biological similarities to the insect, as well as their former abundance and "nuisance" status. Back in colonial times, New England prisoners actually held a revolt because they were being served lobster three times a week, and later still after the ratification of the Constitution (creating the US), those imprisoned in New England jails filed a lawsuit against the various commonwealths for being "forced" to eat lobster, citing the practice as "cruel and unusual punishment", and thus violating their constitutional rights. And as for the "water to a fish" comment..you were correct already, no need to think harder.. it's water. Water is a necessary commodity for human existence, yet water "rights" (and people's access to it ) are becoming a contested topic of concern. In the States alone, many larger US cities (such as Phoenix, Arizona and Reno, Nevada) are projected to be without a dependable source of potable water within the next 15 years.. or less.
Show this to middle- and high schoolers and we might just get a society without capitalism. And to answer your question? Well, there's a whole lot of people actually paying just to stay alive...
Shell oil started out selling shells
Let's just plant a whole damn garden for Ren. 🌹🌹🌹
Part 1 opens your eyes, part 2 breaks it down and part 3 shows you the truth of living this life.
Always a pleasure watching your appreciation of such an Epic Artist of our time ❤

The history of Shell oil company relates to this because the original owners were in business selling rare shells first.

It was also a marketing campaign back in the 30’s/40’s about how a diamond ‘is forever’ and therefore the ideal engagement ring!!
