Overbeck needs to work on moving forward on volleys -- I see a lot of lateral movement, guesswork and late reaction. Groundstrokes = beast mode. Maybe just a bad day for him at the net.
Basavreddy, and this is in no way shape or form a slight, was most likely a world class “push/backboard” in juniors. Uggggghh playing these types of players sucked. Overbeck is an absolute beast, as the ball sounds completely different coming off his racquet. If he gets faster, stronger, and improves his consistency, who knows. To play professionally, you need at least one, usually two world class weapons to succeed. Overbecks lefty serve could potentially develop into one, and he possesses that lanky, “easy” power off of both wings, capable of hitting winners from anywhere. Thanks for the great video!
I do think however think Basavareddy's movement and instincts for the game are extremely good. There are a lot of players who hit cleanly and powerfully but struggle in the mens game because they don't know how to match up. Look at Cam Norrie or even Jenson Brooksby, or for that matter Tiafoe's success. They all have really good match play instincts.
Thanks for the upload. The quality of top level d1 tennis never ceases to amaze.
The highlights are almost all Overbeck LOL I thought for sure he would win from these. Guess he was hitting a lot out
Overbeck reminded me of Berdych so much
NBs forehand looks much bigger in 2024 compared to this match here. Really love Emils game.
what in the hell, I thought Overbeck won 6-4 6-4 from purely the highlights. Damn I was very wrong.
a lot good vedios..subscibed!!
Thank you 🙏🏻

Basavareddy does have an attacking instinct though, from taking the ball early and from a position inside the baseline often.
Did I miss something? Overbeck isn't lefty?
