Please do not stop making your videos! I love them! Your enthusiasm is infectious & you have a way of narrating that is so engaging & humorous. I was born 1952. I enjoyed buying & building Lego with my Son & then with my 3 grandchildren all aged 11 now. I have amassed quite a collection built & unbuilt. I have not ventured into the world of Moc’s but enjoy arranging & changing things. I am going to my first LUG meeting this Sunday. Most people, young & old alike, find it quite a curious & unusual hobby/obsession. How about you?

Thanks for your comment! I love hearing about people's Lego journeys. This is such a new passion for me, and there's still so much to discover. I haven't done MOCs either--I'm not sure I have the brain for it, (although I have considered a MOC of a Forestman scene.) I haven't attended a LUG meeting yet, but that's on the list.

I absolutely love how you said that you only would do 1 video about Lego and yet here we are. I love seeing the joy you get out of it. There is no need for anyone to apologize for enjoying things in life.

Yes, haha. I wasn't sure anybody would be interested in some old guy rambling on about building Lego. But here we are, and I'm still having fun. I agree about not apologizing for enjoying life! Great to meet you!

It's an amazing set. I rediscovered my passion for Lego this year at 31, and I just love how you can display it open or close, mix and match different sections of it etc. Unfortunately, it is very rare to get pirate-themed sets this days, and since my childhood collection was an eclectic bunch of tiny sets of various themes, my mindset this days is "what other sets can go with it?". Even though it was not feasible for me to look for Pirates of Barracuda Bay on the aftermarket, I got myself 3 copies of 31109 and built a custom pirate ship that's raiding the fortress. And then I ordered more pieces from Pick-a-Brick to expand the fortress' garrison, put some sharks in the water, give the monkey a buddy and some bananas to chew on. As a result I have a reasonably-sized pirate-themed display and I'm very pleased with the outcome. Of course, it can be much easier to achieve the same with licensed properties like Harry Potter that receive whole waves of sets each year and those sets are designed to be modular and/or compliment each other.

Thanks for your comment! I love how you've discovered this at 31--think of how many decades you have to play with Lego! :-) I also love hearing how you modified 31109 to make a bigger scene. I have been toying with trying to find Barracuda Bay too but there's so much on the current market to build I can't bring myself to do it. But I sure do want to use Pick a Brick to add more pirates to 31109 which I built earlier, and my plan is kind of the same as yours, to use 31109 and this set for a Pirates-attack-the-fort scene! Thanks for commenting--happy building!

I’m loving your videos! I’m a middle aged Mom who just discovered my own passion for Lego last year, and I’m looking forward to being a SFOL in about 10 years😄
Thanks for posting! I hadn’t even considered buying this set, but now I’m looking closer at it and perhaps it will go on my wish list🤑

Thanks for your comment, it's fun to meet others in the Fellowship of Lego! You discovered your passion earlier than I did and just think of all the extra time you have with the bricks :-)

Your older followers might appreciate the sets aimed at adults such as the Tuxedo Cat, Botanical sets, king fisher etc. I’ve just finished building the Lighthouse which was much fun, plus it has a working rotating light! Oh and the Jaws set is awesome

Love your passion for lego! This is my all time favorite lego set. I had the original as a child. Ive built this set and its expansion on rebrickable my moc designer coleman. It makes the fort over 4000 pieces and twice as awesome. Definitely would recommend.

Great to meet you! When I was a kid you were either DC or Marvel Universe with those twelve cent comics. I was a DC guy--Batman, Superman, Flash. I still have some of those Silver Age books--(especially Batman books with Joker covers!)What about you? And yes, Lego is an awesome hobby!

Thank you son! (Everyone, meet my son!) You were the one who inspired me to build with your story of building during the pandemic. I can't wait for your next visit--we have a lot to build together! (And yes--I wish we still had that monorail!)

I'm definitely a SFOL at 72. I'm just curious where y'all are from. I'm near Cincinnati and would thoroughly enjoy meeting some other SFOLs or AFOLs in the area. Maybe coffee near the LEGO store?

Nice to meet you my fellow SFOL friend. I’m on the west coast so no where near Cinci, but perhaps our paths will cross someday. In the meantime- see you here on RUclips!
