Frank is a true master guitarist/song writer who intellectually crafts his songs and then leaves ample room for improvisation. When I think of a mature, seasoned musician, I think of Frank Marino. His talent gives us the epitome of tasteful playing, combining speed, unique chording, awesome phrasing, killer tone, with fluid scales. He mixes things up to make each original song interesting and fun. Check out the other ones from this Agora Theater concert; you will be as equally blown away.

Canadian rocker love it, I have seen him several time live and they were good ole days, between PAT Travers AND Frank Marino for blues rock you can't go wrong. This song is from the "What's Next" album 1980 is probably the best album ever

A fantastic guitarist. First song I heard by him was "The World Anthem", an excellent instrumental, especially live. RUclips has a poor quality video of Japan TV Broadcast of the song from 1978, with a great ending. "Stories of a Hero" from Juggernaut album is an amazing emotional song you should try.

    Thanks John.
Frank is a fun listen and view... one of the best rockers to come out of the 70s and carry it strong into the 2000s.
His live performances were never a let-down, having seen him multiple times, including a backstage conversation. He is a very congenial and down to earth person, excited to talk shop and share his interests with the fans.
I was looking foward to seeing him a couple yrs ago, but the covid crap canceled his tour and then a medical setback possibly ended his ability to play live again.
So.... keep rocking out his tunes and give him his due respect! 😉

Back in 1975 there was a hall in Davison Michigan where bands used to play. It was called Sherwood Forest. It was well known and bands played there because it could hold about 200 people. Frank and other bands were playing there one weekend and my friends and I went to party out there. It was cool. There was a Whisky soaked watermelon on every table plus three joints. It was private property so cops were not a concern. Frank was just milling around in the crowd and we went outside to burn a fat one. I remember about six of us passing the joint around. I had no idea who he was. Not until he took the stage and blew all of us away! Ted Nugent and Bob Seger were playing that day as well. They were not famous yet so nobody cared it was just a party. Ted played and then Frank took the stage. He was fire! You should have heard the screaming! He smoked the place! Bob was up next but nobody cared after Frank burned it down! I was in awe! I thought I just smoked with that dude and he just jammed this place into the ground!! If I had known that these three would be famous, I would have gotten autographs. That was a fun day I will never forget! I was only 19 at the time. But that was a great time!

I saw him live 3 times, twice with Mahogany Rush in the mid 70s and then doing it again in the 80s, beyond killer every time, the first time, he opened for Lou Reed and half his set was amazing Hendrix covers, the 2nd time he was on the World Anthem tour and got a longer set opening for Queen. Both of those shows was mind-blowing and cost $6.50 for 2 amazing acts both times.
Then I saw him doing the Juggernaut tour in 82. He is well worth exploring, try the great tune A New Rock and Roll, studio classic, as he stepped into the spotlight with his Hendrix inspired 2nd album, Child of Novelty. Rock on and enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎶

Juggernaut was his peak. We argued, kindly outside, 3/3/83 on a warm Chicago Winters night at Park West. what's Next-No Juggernaut. Both. And then the show. One of his best ever. Check it out. I saw him 5 times after that. 84 still on that tour and he freaked out.... Eddie who. Carlos who. Etc. And after 11 years he retreated. Took a break. Great after for sure. But that tour....excellent and then some.

First heard Frank back in the 70's. Bought his album Strange Universe. The tune Land of 1000 Nights sent chills up my spine and blew me away. Was like Hendrix had come back. The song is about a bad acid trip he had. He was like 20 years old when he wrote and recorded that tune. It is a lush and dark tapestry. It's as close as one can come to experiencing a bad acid trip, short of ingesting the LSD! Brilliant song, brilliant album. I've been a fan ever since! Now THAT is a tune you can and should do a reaction video for!

John, have you reacted to any Tommy Bolin? We lost Tommy at just 25 years old but he left his home of Sioux City, Iowa at age 16 to pursue his dream so he surprisingly made quite a lot music before his death. MOXY, The James Gang, Billy Cobham’s Jazz Fusion album Spectrum, Deep Purple, and 2 solo albums are among his credits. I’d love to see your reaction to his solo masterpiece “Post Toastee”. Link below. Thanks!

It's the wierdest thing-I've known about him since the 8os, and haven't heard his name brought up for decades, and then in September I heard 5 people talk about him in the span of 2 weeks, including Zakk Wylde, and now this.
    Recommend "Poppy".

Educate yourself in Frank Marino. The band playing in this concert was not his original band of Mahogany Rush. He is in mending from a health issue, and recently announced he is doing well and looks forward to getting back to his family of fans to enjoy his artistic compositions.

Frank is CRIMINALLY underrated... edited to add - I posted this then saw doomfable posted the exact same sentiment... therefore it must be true : ) Sadly, no more touring due to an undisclosed health issue. I had tickets to see him on the tour that was cancelled.

Frank is still great here. Yes. But check him out 3/3/83 at Park West Chicago. He smokes. Back then he had more fire and in my mind he was at his peak. Not that many, would find this slow or unpassionate.

Honestly, I like the original version that was on his "What's Next" album better. Another great tune off that album well worth checking out is "Finish Line". And if you really want your mind blown, listen to "Ain't Dead Yet" on "The Power of Rock" album.
