Frank Marino Live At Agora Theatre is fantastic
Frank Marino is a brilliant guitarist, with his own fantastic songs. You should listen to Hendrix originals, go to the first album, Are You Experienced?, and listen to the whole album, starting with the ever popular "Foxy Lady" and ending with the amazing psychedelic title track. It's a musical journey through different genres by master musicians.
Next up "The Answer" from this same show... kick... ass
Had this live album in 1978 - Love it!!!
Check out Talkin' bout a feeling from Mahogany rush live album, mind blowing.
Can we agree he should react to the whole album because it rocks from beginning to end? hehe
John, come on! You gotta throw down A LOT of Jimi Hendrix!! He's the KING! Also, i saw Frank Marino & M.R. in concert, in Maryland, around 1979 or maybe 1980. A buddy of mine got us tickets and Nazareth opened up. It's was an amazing concert (loud AF)! Frank is a legend, John. Killer Axeman!
Saw Frank at a big Day On the Green festival in the Oakland Coliseum in 79. The line up included AC/DC , Mahagony Rush, Aerosmith and Ted Nugent. Frank blew them all away. He should have been the headliner.
Mahogany Rush should have been huge. Frank explained if you didn't play the record company politics, you wouldn't get promoted by radio stations, record stores, bad spots at rock festivals etc. Anybody that went to a Mahogany Rush concert, left totally rocked!
@@davidmarks5400 Yep. Frank Marino should be as big as Jimi Hendrix or Jimmy Page.
Saw Mahogany Rush in the late 70s. MAGNIFICENT! A "funkier" side to Marino, try the studio version of Dragonfly, or Makin' My Wave. He does it all, actually.
I was at the concert on the live album the 1st and second song one on the best concerts I had been to
I recommend THE ANSWER live at the Agora.
I thought I heard him sing “Gerbil Aye” at least once. Killer tune.
Without knowing Jimi's version, you can't know how Frank took it to another level. Jimi is the place to start, along with Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton. There maybe better players now, but Jimi invented a lot of this stuff, and wrote great songs. Frank was a disciple, as was Robin Trower. They released live albums around the same time that were both stunning, but Frank was singing and playing like nobody else and Robin had the great James Dewar playing bass and singing. I still love both of those albums and most of their work since. Robin has a greatest hits album worth of stuff on his own and with Jack Bruce on bass and vocals, as well (from their band BLT). Frank is my favorite after Jimi of any guitarists.
Child of the Novelty
I cranked this cassette as a teenager in the 70's and saw him in '79. You also need to check out "I'm a King Bee" from the same album.
I saw FM & MH in the late 70's in Detroit. Robert Palmer opened for him and it was amazing! I am a lifelong Frank Marino fan!! I have every one of his albums! This really brought back some memories for me. You are spot on right about I'm a King Bee too, awesome song, that whole album is good. I like Johnny B. Goode as well.
For a great listen and some good fun check out the Hellbilly Elvis Hitler doing Green Haze, it's a mashup of the theme from Green Acres with the music from Purple Haze, it's great!
Frank Marino was possessed by Jimi Hendrix spirit. Hendrix had some more music to make. Google it.
Yet he is snubbed by the RRHOF - absolute disgrace
Indeed.🫸🏿🫷
I recommend TASTES LIKE HONEY by THE TURDLICKERS.
