This is a Bob Dylan song that Jimi, who was a big Dylan fan, covered. After hearing Hendrix's version, Dylan rearranged the way he sang it live. Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush were a Montreal band who covered a lot of Hendrix material live.

@@gramps6334 Hendrix rearranged the original Dylan version from the 1967 album John Wesley Harding. Marino covered the Hendrix version, duplicating Jimi's solos note for note, except for the slide part, which they said Hendrix played with a Zippo lighter.

After a bad trip Frank Marino went to the hospital where he learnt to play the guitar (before he was a drummer) . He declared (as a joke) he was visited by the spirit of Jimi Hendrix and was his reincarnation .The journalist took this tale dead serious and maybe it help him to gain a name

I've been listening to Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush since the Live 1978 came out. Wore than one out listening to it and to this day it's still one of my favorite albums. He is really great live. He did many live albums. I highly recommend live recordings of The Answer, Dragonfly, or Poppy and many more. A great video collection with all these songs is Live at the Agora Theatre.

    Thank you Airplay Beats!
You've just been introduced to one of the better guitarists/songwriters to come out of the late 60s, early 70s. Absolutely love this version of All Along The Watchtower. Jimi was defintely one of his major influences, having covered many of his tunes and stylings.
He has a fine repertoire of blues/rock/psychedelic /jazz/fusion, though mostly a strong hard-driving rock/blues texture with soaring guitar riffs.
    He's one of my favorites!

Frank Marino was the last band to play at Cal jam two after Aerosmith in 1978 Ontario California 300,000 people. Everybody was leaving heading towards one tunnel that went underneath the racetrack with Frank Marino playing in the background spotlights going through the air. people passed out garbage everywhere. It was like walking through a battlefield after the fight, I was 16 years old

I saw him LIVE also in Huntington Beach at a small venue, but it was lackluster, I was unfortunately disappointed, but at California Jam his show was the SHIT. While he was playing an airplane was flying low over the stage, and made several passes, he took his guitar and turned it into a weapon, and shot the airplane down with full on amazing sound effects, it was the MOST unbelievable performance ever!

Guys, do the title track from this album. Frank burns down the second half of the song switching between Rock and Jazz solos. Checkout his live performances, they’re all perfection. Glad you finally got here. Btw, his 78 Live album (Black Cover) is a must. Was there when some of it was recorded. Enjoyed your reactions. 🤘

I got so excited, told my buddy we got to go, told me it wasn't who I was thinking of, it wasn't THAT Frank Marino. It was a Drag Show and a different Frank Marino. We didn't go, but still chuckle about the look on my face had I not known and gone to the show. 🤣

@@Rock_Snob That was a good one for a first. My older brother went to get something to drink for us before Santana played, because as you know they took everything from us at the gate, and he never returned. So I was by myself until Aerosmith was done. Then I went to the east end, to the tunnel under the track, and stuck out my thumb and shouted "anyone going to Berdoo?" I said that twice and someone responded "come with us." It turned out they lived just a few blocks around the corner from me. Oh, and my older bro had an asthma attack and was sent to the hospital...after spending most of the day in the medical tent. What a day.
