This looks sooo badass! Seriously, good job guys! This makes me wanna play through hl2 again and I have a feeling that it'll be like the first time I did, but slightly more refined and better suited to the modern gaming experience that is the standard that the original hl2 set all those years go. This just raises that bar even more so. Bravo, you all should be very proud of your accomplishments with this mod.

I purchased the Valve complete pack just to play this mod. I had initially played pirated copy of the game about 10 years ago and never touched it again because I wasnt impressed with the vanilla game compared to HL 1. But after playing through your awesome mod, I realised that it was exactly what I was waiting for to revisit HL2. Congratulations to you and the team.

This is the first time that Half-Life 2 gunplay, which I felt has been lacking from the very beginning and even in most Source games since then, so much so that I suspected it just couldn't be done much better in that engine, seems to be just... fine. Satisfying and fun. Great job.

been playing it and so far i love it, but here's some issues -the game insta-kills the player upon loading the first bridge map, just fades to black and reloads the last save -making the movement speed faster is both dis-oirienting and makes some sequences not work as well (especially the airboat chase) -having iron sights is cool and all but it just feels like a cheap way to modernize the game, they're not fun to use and a couple weapons feel like they've been made useless unless you use the iron sights (pistol, SMG, and pulse rifle) -HEV sounds are kinda quiet -weapons now reload when you put them away, this should be toggle-able in the mod's config -the grain filter is pretty annoying -if you try to dismount any mounted weapon that isn't the overwatch one, the game crashes -why are the daytime skyboxes like a billion times brighter? makes it really hard to take on gunships cause my rockets just blend right in tbh i don't really understand how some of this stuff slipped through with 9 years of development, but i'd really like to see it fixed since this is easily the best weapon rework i've seen
The uhh insta kill bridge has always been in hl2. The fix is for reloading an earlier save or autosave or just replay the chapter This comment was a month ago but uhh screw it.
first of all: yeah i'm replying 1 year later bc i had to look at that trailer once again second: most of the stuff you complain about is and was turnable off in 1.0, ironsights are now optionable and bloom was always optionable in HL2. If you change the settings to hl2 original gunplay, you don't really need to use ironsights. and even then, it slows you down, yes, but it makes you much more accurate, which I think the AR2 rreally needed. if you spray with AR2 in vanilla, you don't hit the broad side of the barn.

I loved Cinematic Mod but it was too much game changes for me, now i finally purchased Valve Complete Pack with 90% of discount (5€ instead of 120€ thanks steam summer sales!!), and after picking up this mod from ModDB I could never been more happier! Technically speaking the Flare Gun anim looked a lot more ergonomic and cool. Bullets come from a single pulse chip and is automatically loaded when its empty, requiring minimal hand movements. Imagine reloading the AR-15 by jusy pressing a button on the side, it makes the AR2 quite a marvel and really tells you just how superior the Combine really is compared to our Earthly firearms like the SMG MP7
legit there is no reason to replay HL2 you just do it if you want to it is a game which is still (in my opinion) to this day so amazing that I could just play through the whole game twice in a row and it would still not be boring

Just finished this mod a couple months back and I can easily say it made me love Half Life 2's gameplay more than I ever could've imagined! Makes me hope that, one day, FEAR 2 is able to get something similar so the shooting there doesn't feel so blegh. In any case though, it was a blast playing through the entirety of Half Life 2 with MMod and it makes going back to the vanilla version extremely difficult.
Man, you and the others really went all out on this mod! Everything in it looks fantastically gorgeous! I guess it was all worth the 9 years of development!
I just downloaded this and I much prefer this version with Cinematic Mod visuals! Very impressive work...and this is one of my favourite games of all time!

Someone please explain to me what the value is in chromatic aberration and having dirt and lens flares all over the screen is. To me that sort of stuff is distracting and looks ugly, not to mention makes no sense. I've never walked outside and seen dirt and lens flares covering my eyes before. It's good that those effects can likely be turned off but I just don't get why anyone would want them in the first place.
eyyyy... so the chromatic aboration is a bit..."cinematic" but if you dont like you can always turn it off. plus it gives more oomph into bloom if you so desire. i like it because it makes the combine areas pop
Anyone know why my iron-sights don't actually let me look down the gun? Just does a half zoom at this point and I'm really not a fan. Can't find anything in the mod configuration.
They were removed in 1.2, since many critics believed ironsights did not fit the game. Of course, there are some people that do indeed like the ironsight mechanic, so the compromise was to make it into a simple zoom mechanic, like in Fallout 3. I think the dev also mentioned that only pistols could be given proper ironsights. Many of the other guns had models that were never intended to be viewed in the center, as the models often had parts distorted, low resolution textures, or sometimes the right half of the model was completely invisible.
This is amazing absolutely fantastic. Like cinematic mod but better in every way. Just shows what can be done in the source engine even a decade and a half after its development. Hats off to the devs and the guys at valve for such an amazingly versatile engine!
I wouldn't assume so, but would you be willing to make the weapon revamps as an addon for Garry's Mod as well? As you know, the stock HL2 weapons don't look the best.

Just found this mod today and wow this is amazing you just gave me a reason to play Half life 2 again.

Been looking for an HL2 mod that doesn't drastically change the game for months and I've finally found it. Thank you!
been playing it and so far i love it, but here's some issues
-the game insta-kills the player upon loading the first bridge map, just fades to black and reloads the last save
-making the movement speed faster is both dis-oirienting and makes some sequences not work as well (especially the airboat chase)
-having iron sights is cool and all but it just feels like a cheap way to modernize the game, they're not fun to use and a couple weapons feel like they've been made useless unless you use the iron sights (pistol, SMG, and pulse rifle)
-HEV sounds are kinda quiet
-weapons now reload when you put them away, this should be toggle-able in the mod's config
-the grain filter is pretty annoying
-if you try to dismount any mounted weapon that isn't the overwatch one, the game crashes
-why are the daytime skyboxes like a billion times brighter? makes it really hard to take on gunships cause my rockets just blend right in
tbh i don't really understand how some of this stuff slipped through with 9 years of development, but i'd really like to see it fixed since this is easily the best weapon rework i've seen
The uhh insta kill bridge has always been in hl2. The fix is for reloading an earlier save or autosave or just replay the chapter

Weapons did reload automatically in hl2 the default number was 3 seconds
first of all: yeah i'm replying 1 year later bc i had to look at that trailer once again
second: most of the stuff you complain about is and was turnable off in 1.0, ironsights are now optionable and bloom was always optionable in HL2. If you change the settings to hl2 original gunplay, you don't really need to use ironsights. and even then, it slows you down, yes, but it makes you much more accurate, which I think the AR2 rreally needed. if you spray with AR2 in vanilla, you don't hit the broad side of the barn.
Most of the things you complained about can be turned off in the mmod options.
A good way to revisit the game for sure, this certainly pays off for 9 years and i hope you add more :)

THIS MMOD is what I always wanted!! I can play Vanilla games on my old laptop and Modded on my Gaming RIG!! I loved Cinematic Mod but it was too much game changes for me, now i finally purchased Valve Complete Pack with 90% of discount (5€ instead of 120€ thanks steam summer sales!!), and after picking up this mod from ModDB I could never been more happier! Those juicy animations, wow. Most effects are subtle, nearly all of them are customizable... This is a must-try mod.

Always made me mad how they never updated it from the old flare gun animations.
Technically speaking the Flare Gun anim looked a lot more ergonomic and cool. Bullets come from a single pulse chip and is automatically loaded when its empty, requiring minimal hand movements. Imagine reloading the AR-15 by jusy pressing a button on the side, it makes the AR2 quite a marvel and really tells you just how superior the Combine really is compared to our Earthly firearms like the SMG MP7
@@alexpreface i prefer it that way too. especially considering Half-Life Alyx Confirmed that it's not a mag, but an automatic loading system.

legit there is no reason to replay HL2 you just do it if you want to it is a game which is still (in my opinion) to this day so amazing that I could just play through the whole game twice in a row and it would still not be boring

Сорс 2 до сих обещают выпустить, сколько было разговоров о лефт фо деде, обновлении вака - воз и ныне там, к сожалению. Поэтому я думаю моддеры это единственная надежда хл комьюнити. Пока еще живого.

Just finished this mod a couple months back and I can easily say it made me love Half Life 2's gameplay more than I ever could've imagined! Makes me hope that, one day, FEAR 2 is able to get something similar so the shooting there doesn't feel so blegh. In any case though, it was a blast playing through the entirety of Half Life 2 with MMod and it makes going back to the vanilla version extremely difficult.

Someone please explain to me what the value is in chromatic aberration and having dirt and lens flares all over the screen is. To me that sort of stuff is distracting and looks ugly, not to mention makes no sense. I've never walked outside and seen dirt and lens flares covering my eyes before. It's good that those effects can likely be turned off but I just don't get why anyone would want them in the first place.
Gordan wears glasses so it makes sense in this case.
eyyyy... so the chromatic aboration is a bit..."cinematic" but if you dont like you can always turn it off. plus it gives more oomph into bloom if you so desire. i like it because it makes the combine areas pop

Anyone know why my iron-sights don't actually let me look down the gun? Just does a half zoom at this point and I'm really not a fan. Can't find anything in the mod configuration.
They were removed in 1.2, since many critics believed ironsights did not fit the game. Of course, there are some people that do indeed like the ironsight mechanic, so the compromise was to make it into a simple zoom mechanic, like in Fallout 3.
I think the dev also mentioned that only pistols could be given proper ironsights. Many of the other guns had models that were never intended to be viewed in the center, as the models often had parts distorted, low resolution textures, or sometimes the right half of the model was completely invisible.
Half life 2 is now a perfect black mesa sequel

This is amazing absolutely fantastic. Like cinematic mod but better in every way. Just shows what can be done in the source engine even a decade and a half after its development. Hats off to the devs and the guys at valve for such an amazingly versatile engine!
I wouldn't assume so, but would you be willing to make the weapon revamps as an addon for Garry's Mod as well? As you know, the stock HL2 weapons don't look the best.
