This man is timeless. All my students were born after he passed, yet they all know who Frank Sinatra was, as well as his voice anytime a song of his comes on.
First time I saw him I took my mom. I was around 30. She absolutely adored and loved him. It was the old Chicago Stadium and the stage was in the round in the middle. When they first introduced him they had turned off the lights and he was standing in a runway. They threw the spotlight on him and he walked thru the runway and up to the stage. By the time he got there the audience was already in a frenzy clapping hysterically. My mom almost fainted. He bowed to each side never said a word and the place went nuts. Out of control. Finally he just thru his arm at the orchestra and they started playing and the crowd became quite and listened. Never forget how happy my mom was. I’m still listen to him almost daily. I’m 79 now.
Highly interesting you put that into the mother child "reunion" context. Thank you for your story telling. You deserve "even better" comments (than this one inspired by butter see above, so to say)
I've got a lot of his recordings, beginning with the Harry James stuff up to the Duets recordings. What always gets to me is how he tried just about everything, that the finger-snapping Chairman of the Board image ignores the sheer scope of what he tried out at one time or another. His excursions into jazz, his crazy experiments like the Jobim sessions, the Rod McKuen album, his work with the fellas who did Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons' albums, the Basie sessions, the album he did with the Hollywood String Quartet, his two shots at disco (Yikes!), the albums he conducted, starting his own record label, having a career that went on decade after decade, not to mention him practically inventing the concept album and microphone technique - wow. He never got into rock - hated the stuff - but his favourite Beatle was George and he recorded a one-copy-only special version of "The Lady is a Tramp" for Ringo's wedding. Oh, and he did a duet with Bono. He got a lot done in the 60 years he was in front of a microphone. When people tell me how the whole Rat Pack thing doesn't work for them, I lend them the "Watertown" album. That gets a LOT of conversations started. Anyone naming ANY singer the greatest of all time can't prove it. It's not like a sporting event where you can pull out a stopwatch or tape measure and prove someone went the fastest or furthest. Biggest selling singers? Sure. Like your talent is tied to how many recording your company gets sold. You can have personal favourites. I've got Freddie Mercury, Elvis Presley, and an opera singer or two. Jim Morrison? Sure. Still, Sinatra put out so much good music, four or more albums each year (!), year after year, while doing hundreds of concerts every year. Today, years pass before a performer finds a way to get 45 minutes of material produced - and six live performances is considered a tour. I mean, Shania Twain has a great voice and is one of the best selling artists of all time. But, in a recording career that started in 1993 - over twenty years ago - she's made four albums. Four. Her last studio album came out in 2002. That's not a putdown, at all. It's just a sign of the times.
I'm 60 and lucky to have lived during the birth of r&r, soul, folk, funk, punk, the time of Elvis, talking heads, underworld, you name em ... but its always gonna be Frank ... big thanks to my dad for playing Frank, Nat and Sarah Vaughn endlessly
That final "even when I'm old and gray" wooowwww. I don't think he read music. that is so impressive for him to know to put those notes together (flawlessly)..not just some random run of notes (like some newer singers add crappy runs...blech.) It's really astounding to me.
I was born in the best generation for music. Here in 2020 at the touch of a finger we have free access to all of the greatest recordings ever made. Punk Jazz and Hip Hop were all created in the past 100 years. Appreciate that. No other generation has had this. I’m thankful. There’s so much good music still being made at the moment. The most popular music is of course utter trash because it’s been muddled by money. But there’s so many artists making amazing music today and if you look hard enough you’ll find it. Don’t let any tell you this generation sucks if they think that they’re lame and entirely out of the loop.
I always observe when Frank takes a deep breath and then proceeds to deliver an amazing phrase. This little combo, this arrangement and this performance knock me out, every time.

I’m 23 years old and absolutely in love with this man. When my Mamaw Mary was still alive she was completely obsessed over Elvis and me with Frank. I can imagine getting to my grandmas age still loving Sinatra. It’s a sweet thought 🎶
it bring tears in my eyes ,incredible melody and stunning performance, velvet voice, not counting the nobility and the sense of style, how sad that now there is no one like him. At those days artists respected the stage, they put their heart into the performance. It is like a taste of an old and expensive cognac, with years it tastes better.
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face ..,
This concert was one of the highlights of his singing career. Frank performed at a couple other British venues during his stay at this time. He was so enchanted by the country that he decided to record an album there with songs about London and songs by British songwriters. It was the only time he recorded an album outside of the US 👍 Princess Margaret was among the British dignitaries in attendance

I’m 45 years old, in my car, what’s usually playing is Elvis, Johnny Cash, The Andrew Sisters, Sinatra or Patsy. ♥️ My house has tons of framed photographs of Clark Gable, yup I said it, THE CLARK GABLE!!! Some original. Ya never know who your heart will love, maybe some of us were born in the wrong era ♥️
Sinatra literally had it all - the voice, the demeanor, the moves, the looks and that's why he is the best entertainer there ever was and probably ever will be. He's captivating and unique.
This is just one of the many reasons why I LOVE Jazz Age Hollywood. Those people felt their art and music with their body and souls. Today 95% of the entertainers we have on the media look like dull, talentless robots.
But his voice's eternal beauty won’t fade, nor lose any of its quality. And he will never die, as he will live on in this enduring video. As long as there are people still alive to watch this video, this song will live, and he will live in it.
Shut the fuck up u weirdo u Wouldn't be on youtube if u were 6 months old and don't talk bullshit about being some joke that no one thinks is funny fuck head
I was at this Show. My friend got 2 tickets. It was a Charity Show for Sunshine Homes. Princess Margaret, Shirley Bassey et al were there. Midnight it started and I will never forget it, I could see those wonderful blue eyes from my seat and he had these wonderful shiny shoes with tiny bows in. Magic....
my dad used to sing this to me in the car before he passed away at 74. i was only a teenager back then and i used to find it so embarrassing but im 23 now and i cherish these things more than ever
Ah the 60’s. Hands down the best musical era. You still had the big bands of the ‘30-40’s going, Sinatra, Martin and the rest. Then you had Elvis, The Beatles etc. It was great to have all that going on at one time and competing. Flip station to station - record to record. Nothing like it.
I am 6 years old and I love, love, love Frank Sinatra. I love to sing this song My dad loves this song and always puts it in the car for me and my sisters to hear❤️
No one even close today..................he was the best!! I'm so glad there are so many You Tube Sinatra videos to watch and see. He was just incomparable.........especially compared to today's tripe.
The height of music, Class. Wow. These cats are all in "top form" always, but this piano player is bringing so much to us, swing, jazz, Classical, blues, and the ranges are just fantastic. If you get a chance listen to the piano player's track at the beginning of Frank's song, they are just amazing comprehension of such things, such an absolute grasp on so many things in music. Throw money, lol. 💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎📀🔒🔐😇❤
Great song, every time I hear it I think about it being used in the movie Elf with Will Ferrel, Peter Dinklage, Bob Newhart, Edward Asner, Zooey Deschanel and James Caan.
I love Frank his music sound exactly the way it does recored and lots of artist these days love performance are terrible. I wish he was still here spreading joy with his music.
at 21 years of age i feel that i am from this amazing man's era. this music flows through my veins and i live this music everyday of my life. Frank Sinatra has been such a God like in my life . he inspires me to sing everyday. I'm so glad I can turn to RUclips or stream his music on spotify. Frank just could sing so beautifully so naturally. His voice is everything.
The fact he sings so effortlessly. I just, wow.
I love the drummer, just politely tapping away in a tuxedo.

I feel nostalgic. Frank Sinatra, one of the very best.
