Ah finally, a fun use for math 😅
Hi! Very fun video :) I can't help myself to mention that there are more types of wooden puzzles that Amy would love (I'm in Amy's team🙈).
In particular I have in mind the ones called infinite puzzles, by Nervous System.
The idea is similar to the sphere (the surface of a 3D or 4D dimensional objects), so there is no "edge", but they have a flat representation. This is similar to topological objects like a Klein bottle (a bottle without interior or exterior), or a thorus (like a donut :) ).
While we may argue that there is an "edge", then you can move all the pieces on one "edge" to the other side, and what seemed to be edges pieces end up in the middle, so they're very fun shapes :). So maybe all pieces are edges and then both Edgar and Amy are pleased at the same time with 100% of the pieces being edges and having no edges at the same time 😂

I bought the Djeco puzzle last year brand new for 20 euros here in Greece. I was lucky to find it on the top shelf of a small stationer's shop covered in dust and I had to buy it. Fantastic quality and image.
There's a puzzle i found at the goodwill called "The Not So Small At All Stick Puzzle" (art by Sandra Magsamen) that was released by Chick-fil-a.
It's 15 pieces and double sided.
It is 15 stick shaped (pencil width/5.5 inches long) pieces that when lined up correctly show a cute picture of ants with a poem.
Each side has an ant themed image and a poem.
To me they look like a bunch of edge pieces.
It was a fun puzzle even though there were only 15 pieces.
Edgar and Amy might still be searching for their perfect puzzles, but for me this was the perfect puzzle video! A whole video of puzzle math!! Loved the exploration of area and perimeter and their relationship to puzzles. Very clever. And what fabulous unique puzzles you found to share as well. Thanks for another cool video!
614 - If those pieces were square you'd have twice as many pieces!
The ideal puzzle for this geometry is the M.C. Escher 'Metamorpose' (154 " x 8")
I really like Djeco puzzles. The 1000 piecers are traditional sizes and shapes from my experience.
The Play Group sphere is totally worth the money. I love it. I have bought some knockoff other spheres that are just as fun but not as beautiful.
I love your solution for Amy. Love Playgroup. Also I find Djeco puzzles more in Educational Toy stores in Canada, where they also sell other items Djeco carries. I love their 1000pc Panoramic puzzles.

I love math! I stopped after Calc I. I always loved word problems, they are just puzzles. 😊 The old "Games" magazine was awesome for all kinds of puzzles, I miss it. I'll be trying Brilliant to brush up on my math skills, it's been over 30 years since college 😮

That programmable Christmas lights one on his 2nd channel I can't stop repeating! 🎄While there are puzzles with all edge pieces, as you mentioned, they're all straight pieces, not really edge. I believe it was a 1000 piece puzzle called The Edge that I saw, but sure they're lots more. Sometimes you get what you wish for, so he might have changed his mind once he saw 1000 edge pieces!

But do you include the corners as edge pieces or not? Because the 116 edge pieces include the corners still.
Oof, that Frau Holle image is so incongruous with the actual story. My mythology loving heart is pained by it. The only thing that's most likely correct is the blond hair. The fairy tale is in The Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm. It's also one I grew up with. I believe in a sense the origin is similar to the nordic goddess Hel.
My fave band Saltatio Mortis (German) made a song about the story with some mythology sprinkled in (and some backpipes and darker vibes). The song is called Weiss wie Schnee. In case you don't know much German, there are translations on the Interwebs and otherwise copy-pasting the lyrics into Google Translate or some other translating tool probably will help out with understanding the lyrics. I'm off to listen to the song now and reminisce about how relative simple maths was before I tried a signals and systems course for an engineering degree. Good times, good times. Maths can be so much fun

puzzle math or how to lose subscribers fast ;) The Djeco gallery puzzles are great. I have one of those. But tracking down any out of print isn't easy for europeans either!
Aarrrgh, maths! Never something I was good at. I did enjoy your video though trying to solve how to get more outside or more inside. Not a fan of Eeboo, far too shiny, I tried one and never again. It's always interesting to find out how many pieces are actually in a jigsaw. 🧩 I have done House of Puzzles ones and their 1000 piece puzzles actually contain 1058 of which 128 are outside pieces. The pieces are not regular so that may explain it. It's either exactly the number stated on the box or more. If I do a panoramic I have to make sure it isn't too long for my puzzle board.
