Three stick out, Lavos in Chrono Trigger, especially new game plus if you face him solo right at the start of the game. Colossus from God of war 2. And the final fight in Final Fantasy 6, not because of difficulty but because it's so much over the top references to things like Dantes inferno.

i wish theyd comment on how awesome Baldurs dialogue is when he meets Kratos before the fight 'i thought youd be bigger, youre a long way from home, i thought your kind was supposed to be peaceful/intelligent etc' it all applies to kratos as a greek when you first play it and assume he means him but he thinks youre the last jotun, kratos' dead wife laufey so hes saying i thought you (a frost giant) would be bigger, long way from home (jotunheim), etc, he didnt have a clue who Kratos was or the greek pantheon its incredibly cool on your second playthrough

THEN you're launched into the air and you have to deal with the BODY of the heads you gruesomely ripped off. Then you let a giant hair bird EAT the thing while it's rambling about a prophecy."

Bayonetta's actually quite accurate on how they portray Angels. Eyes and lots of faces are a staple in Heaven. Demons are quite beautiful in comparison. It's in the Bible.

Woah, the animations on that headless Guardian Ape are actually super disturbing and the lore is fascinating. That's honestly one of the coolest bosses I've ever seen.
It's still the best From game by far, Miyazaki master class. Best bosses, best combat, elden was solid but a big step down going back to the old souls mechanics They've always got the most polished hitboxes and animations
One of my favourite boss fights was the fight against Rodrigo Borgia in Assassin's Creed 2. Mainly because of how absurd it was to fist fight the pope.
Why is that absurd? I get fist fights with famous world leaders both secular and religious everyday. It's a busy life but someone has to do it. Especially because of that jack ass getting his orange spray tan all over the White House. I forget his name. I think its Fucktard McLiesAlot. Hes DUUUUUUUUUUUMB.

It's madness, I tell you. It sucks that the studio OVERSPENT so horribly and poorly managed everything. I mean, we could always crowdfund to buy the Rights from Rhode Island. We are in an era now where crowdfunding is more prevalent than it was when the game originally came out.

In one Yakuza game there is a Family Head that demands from his subordinates to dress up in diapers. Yeah. Because he dresses up like that too and he likes it. And they ask you to beat him because obviously they don't want to be dressed in diapers but he is the Family Head so they have to obey him!

I really liked the Guardian Ape as well. It chains the two fight styles you can have in Sekiro, which is fighting beasts or fighting humanoids. The first phase, being a beast, you can say goodbye to trying to kill it through posture and you're trying to dodge, but in the second phase, when its fight style becomes more humanoid, you pop out the deflect game and show that Ape how wrong he was to pick up that sword
I really loved the final boss fight in Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword against Demise. It's a massive swordfight against this imposing demon lord. This fight was insane, between the traded blows and the back and forth parrying of each other's attacks. And that was just the first phase. In the second, Demise decides to empower his blade with unholy lightning, making his attacks stronger and unblockable. However, you can steal this lightning and use it to stun him until you've done enough damage for the killing blow. And it's all on the Wii with it's motion controls, so you have to make each attack physically in your attempt to fell this god of evil. All in all, it's an incredibly rewarding boss fight that just felt astonishingly epic.
I am ignoring most of your comment but I had to say something because I am currently playing Skyward Sword HD for the first time ever and I'm so excited for the final parts of the game. Seeing your comment helped create even more excitement.
Definitely, mostly because it's one of the rare boss fights that make the player stop, think and plas their actions accordingly instead of plowing through like you do with 90% of the enemies in all of the Arkham games

Yami from Okami genuinely stunned me when I was facing him. After running the boss gauntlet, I didn't think anything could surprise me then they strip you of your abilities and you fight through several stages, retrieving your abilities and struggling against a boss who is always changing up his attack pattern. Then when you think you've won, he renders you weak and dives for the killing blow. I genuinely thought I'd failed or missed something before Issun restores the worlds faith in her and she can take him down in his final form once and for all. Its an honestly beautiful fight pulling together everything you've learnt and also managing to flip it all on its head.
My favorite bit in that fight is when you get the moon powers back and can summon a giant nagi to do a move that I like to call “ the moon cleaver “. So satisfying.
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater - Naked Snake(later Big Boss) vs The Boss. I mean COME ON. The setting in that field, the heartbreaking circumstances that pitted you against each other, the reality of what's at stake, the music and the absolutely tear-jerking finale....just....WOW. A perfect end to a perfect game.
The battle that rocked my world was in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, against Taron Malicos. In that battle, all the motion is so fluid and you have to respond properly fast to counter his moves that I really started to feel as if I was force-sensitive myself. That, and you could really feel that the voice actor was completely into his role. It really sucked me into the battle completely. That... was... awesome!

Jubileus had to be stopped because she was going to reboot the universe after destroying the correct one. The sages wanted this to happen originally, so did the witches, but the sages decided to make it reboot without the balance.
The Witches and Sages wanted to keep the balance, but then the Angels whom the Sages served corrupted everything, ironically. With the Eyes of Creation they were going to reset reality in their image. And then Jeanne managed to Bayonetta and taking her out of the statue. This would have ended up causing the leader of angels to constantly be redirected in a cycle of creation, no ending, since it only had the lumen sages holy powers and not the witches power of destruction.
In Mass Effect 3 you take on a reaper head-on on Rannoch and with the help of EDI and an entire fleet you manage to destroy it. It's not that the boss battle is hard(pretty easy). it's the epic scale of it and also a reflection of just how much of a badass your Commander Shepard is.

Kefka from Final Fantasy VI. You go into the fight like "Alright, I've got this." Then four boss battles full of allegory and thirty minutes later, you FINALLY get to Kefka himself and it's still another ten minutes before he's dead for good. There IS a trick to going through the fights quickly, a spell you can use to deal massive damage quickly, but even with the spell these are long fights with epic music playing throughout. Beautiful.
100% agreement, one of, if not my favorite boss fight of all time. It was a little difficult, but it was a major power fantasy moment with both Sora and Riku showing way more power than they have through the rest of the game and the final form fight was pretty damn glorious. Then again maybe I have some rose tinted goggles for it, since I played it back in the PS2 days.
Once saw Bayonetta described as a game that "turns the action up to 11 from the start, and then spends the rest of the game seeing if there are any other numbers after that" :D Also: farting ape! And Eastern philosophy...?! Feel like I need some Sekiro in my life...

@@morningstar2180 Bayonetta 1 is on the XBox 360, PS3, and PC, while it and Bayonetta 2 were ported to the Switch, too. IIRC, Bayonetta 2 and onwards are Nintendo exclusives (though still Sega's IP) because Nintendo was willing to fund its production when no one else would.

Interestingly (or at least interestingly to me, who chose to do a four year degree on this stuff, lol) Revelations is one of the few books of the bible that we do know who wrote it. Sort of. We know he was called John, and he was in prison when he wrote it. I guess he /could/ have also been a sexy witch, but somehow I can't imagine a sexy hair witch chosing the name John. In terms of the fun and challenge factor, your match against Sam. I had fun parrying his attacks. (is this adrenaline the reason why people love Souls games so much? Cuz I think it is.) In terms of being visibly more powerful than the boss, that puppet-ish thing where you have to go ripper mode and shred him.
@@thechevyferrari9559 Jetstream Sam's fight was the best IMO Armstrong's had a kickass soundtrack but it was a massive difficulty spike if you weren't good with manual blade mode
I really liked Ultra necrozma's fight as well! The max affection in my Pokémon saved me in that battle, but I know how much of a struggle it was for others.
One of the best things about the Engels fight is when you realise that, moments ago, you were running around on the body of the boss. Meaning that your goal is to literally fight and beat the level.
I've never played Borderlands myself, but Handsome Jack's boss fight is one of my favorites, just because of his whole 'AND I AM THE GOD D*MN HERO!' speech.
The sniper fight with Quiet in Metal Gear Solid 5. Sets the character up so well! Bonus points (literally) if you pull it off at S rank by dropping those sweet sweet supply boxes on top of her while she's singing.
On extreme difficulty I stayed behind the initial cover the entire time, then after getting her to quarter health, she showed up on a ledge behind me and killed me in one shot
Ridley on hard mode in Metroid Other M. He was SO HARD but so satisfying to beat. Also Ganon from Ocarina of Time because that was the first time I'd ever seen a video game on a console in 3d and somehow convinced my parents to buy an N64 after my uncle showed me that boss fight.
The final boss gauntlet from final fantasy vi. Fighting your way up that tower of despair to get to kefka, with each boss section having its own distinct theme song is pure perfection
metal gear rising revengeance. the first fight with ray...oh wait i mean the one with monsoon...wait i wrote jetstreamsam wrong. i loved the lyrics from that fight. "standing here i realize you were just like me trying to make history.." wait thats armstrongs theme ah to hell with it. the whole gama was a epic boos fight
Don't forget Metal Gear Excelsus. Sure most of the fight was a pain (at least for me) but the music was just on par with the rest of the game and then you tear it to pieces with its own blade-arm-thing but with everyone else you tear it to pieces with your own sword which is great
@@kiagh8123 it was good but her story kinda felt forced for me. they tried to make it like the stories from the 4th entry so i kinda didnt like the fight that much. there was not enough character development for the lyrics to kick in. but the music on its own is really nice
I like Metal Gear Revengeance, but I hate its bosses. A lot of the are just frustrating. I still don’t fully understand how to beat Moonsoon, AND I’VE BEATEN HIM A LOT OF TIMES! And I cannot beat Armstrong in hard no matter how many times I try. He’s like “Oh, you damaged me a little? F*ck you, if you can’t complete the hardest QTE you’ve faced in your life, I’m gonna insta-kill you!” I’ve played both Bayonetta games many times, so I like to think I’m not precisely bad at hack and slash.
I don't love Skyward Sword as a whole, but the final gauntlet was absolutely stunning. The mob rush down to Ghirahim, then knocking him off of floating platforms to stab him in the chest-diamond, then the final battle against Demise. Demise felt like a real culmination of the motion-controlled sword and shield, and the visuals of the water, the thunderstorm, and the flaming hair all looked fantastic
Doom Dragon, Golden Sun: The Lost Age. Not only was it a great tie in from the boss from the previous game, but it was both tragic and epic. Cruel Ruin will wreck your day though. Try yeeting it into the sun? Or the sun into it? Oh wait, that dragon is made of...
The stages of the Lavos fight in Chrono Trigger is my stand out moment. I remember being in awe as a kid at each stage and thinking... phew its done..... nope! Not to mention the boss theme "world revolution" is undeniably one of the greatest boss themes of all time.
Ludwig The Accursed- Bloodborne. That epic and bloody battle accompanied by that soundtrack. And that sad yet honorable (if you have enough insight) dialogue when he at last falls. EPIC
This was just a really fun video to listen to you that I wish you would do more of. They're not explicitly scripted, so you can really feel the emotion that each of these bosses brought to you, and the others are in the back talking with you, so you hear their reactions and the face of the speaker as they answer. This is a long, long video and yet it's probably my favorite of yours. Cheers, keep being great.
For sheer awesomeness, it's hard to top your fight in _Metal Gear Solid 3_ with The End. I remember it took me three hours to beat the first time, but it wasn't boring. It was tense, my brain whirring as I tried to outsmart this guy. Even now, it can take half an hour, easy. I really love the final fight between Old Snake and Liquid Ocelot in _Metal Gear Solid 4_ including the cutscene leading up to it. Gameplay-wise, it wasn't earth-shattering, but the meaning behind it hit me in the feels.
Fun fact. It took me ages to get on top of that Colossus, and as soon as I finally got onto his head and was charging up my sword attack, the battery died on the controller and I fell alllllll the way down and just died.
*VERY* intentional. Having played through Bayonetta myself, I promise you that. I also love how that final punch on Jubileus is measured in *Infinitons*
Yes and no. A climax in literary terms is the turning point of the story where the protagonist(s) faces a dilemma or gets involved in a major struggle with an antagonist. The fight with Father Balder, then Jubileus is, ultimately, the climax of Bayonetta. Just... lookin' at it realistically.
The fight with the stranger is such a wonderful piece, like you know nothing about him yet he seems to know about a past you've been hiding. You're a god and yet he's holding up to you even to ghe point of greatly injuring you and leaving you limping for a while. And everything is just so over the top, with the earth shattering and the ramming with trees and all that, the music is intense, the difficulty is right there, nothing bad really
28:29!!! No way he chose this hahah, this exact boss from this Contra game was the first thing that popped into my mind when thinking about hard bosses too hahah... I was telling myself there's no way they would every select the skull boss from Contra too. Awesome choice my man, played waaay too much of this game when I was younger but don't regret a second of it.
I saw the title and said to myself “If a boss from Shadow of The Colossus isn’t here...” But luckily it was! There was literally no chance anyone from that game *wasn’t* here
I like how anyone who knows a little of Norse mythology would hear "I feel nothing" and go "oh, that's Baldur. Guess Loki hasn't killed him yet." And anyone who isn't familiar would likely go "this guy is weird, I bet he's Loki."
Oh my god, I literally never got the last weakspot with the bow on malus! But you can make the jump to its collar from the hand, so I always thought, that's how you're supposed to do it. You saved me a lot of tears for my next playthrough, cause making the jump over to the collar is really, REALLY hard to do and the time window where it's even possible to pull it off is ridiculously short
One of my all time favorite boss battles is weirdly enough the Eagle thing from Shadow of the Colossus. I thought it felt really cool to wait for to to swoop down to jump on its back, but it was also pretty sad that I had to kill it 😞 I just wanted to ride on it forever.
A personal favorite boss fight of mine would have to be the the one against Roxas in Kingdom Hearts 2. Because very very quickly you realize that it's not an ordinary boss fight cuz of the music it's just so emotional and challenging and all that good stuff.
Me with a huge scar across my cheek: I can say that is partially true most either wonder how I got it or are scared of me for some unknown reason but then there’s the odd one that does dig it
I Love Okami :3 and Okamiden. The fight against Kurow in Okamiden was awesome and sad at the same time. and Yami in Okami was super difficult the first time i played it. I can't even count the number of times i died -_-
My favorite: the 16th Colossus (Malus) in Shadow of the Colossus. OMG as I was typing that Ellen's part came on. I literally gasped. Omg Ellen is incredible
For me, personally,it was the Clock-La boss fight from Sly Cooper 2. It was, for me at the time, an nowhere turn of events that pushed Matt and I’s play through (Matt was my friend playing with me) to the limits. From the cutscene to the fight itself was just an adrenaline rush for the younger version of ourselves. The lore that Matt and I had spent hours reading and learning and knowing the horror that was Clockwerk from the first Sky Cooper game and seeing a character who was set-up to be an ally with a cloak of mystery around them suddenly take a turn for the dark side and take over the newly put together body of Clockwerk to become Clock-La. It was insane. Even playing the game again several years later just gave me chills. I have trouble recalling all the details but it was genuinely one of my favourite moments in gaming history.
I stored all the charges for the nuke throughout the game because 'you gonna need them eventually'. When I faced the obvious last boss, I saw my last chance to actually use them. It was a short fight.
@@spacejesus6581 Actually I originally had the Collecter Beam as my heavy weapon of choice, so the first time i did that boss fight that's what I used. But the next time i did it and everyone after I brought the Cain. I can't think of a better place to use a portable nuke than on an unfinished machine god fetus :)
My time has come. Monk Maz Koshia from Breath of the Wild: Champion’s Ballad. The DLC uses major aspects from the base game and expands on them in a new way, however when it’s time for the final boss fight, the DLC politely asks the player to hold its beer. The monk that usually congratulates you stands up and says “I offer this final trial” and kickass music starts playing. The guy has all the powers: teleportation, super speed, electricity, cloning, and he even grows gigantic at one point! The fight isn’t particularly hard if you have learned how to utilize the game’s combat system, but it is so much fun! I was left completely baffled and I couldn’t stop laughing and smiling the entire fight! It was completely different from any other fight and it taught me the boss fights can be more than just intimidation and power, and can be insanely fun and enjoyable! Also the fight music kicks ass.
The Viper bossfight in Titanfall 2 was awesome! You're fighting a flying mech on board of a spaceship racing across a planet towards a bigger spaceship. What's not to like?
Splatoon with DJ Octavio! Like I my expectations of a boss fight was low for this game and blew me away with some bosses but the final one just blew me away with it's spicy wasabi beats. One of the few games I tune everything out and was part of the game!
Now you should do a list of the most dissapointing boss battles. The type that are really hyped up, but turn out to be either too simplified, like the Tower from Shadow of Mordor, or just boring.
Kratos needs mistletoe, that's the only thing that can kill Baldr Fun fact: Baldr was actually the more chill out of the Norse Pantheon of Gods, so Baldr demanding a punch up with a godslayer like Kratos is out of character for him, unlike Thor and Tir
It's a pretty cool re-imagining though, changing up the invulnerability to mean he can't feel anything and is undying. Makes for an understandably unstable and angry individual with an interesting relationship with his mother
What's especially funny about their re-imagining of Norse myth is that both of Thor's son's die, where as in the original lore they are the only gods to survive Ragnarök. Whops. Also, the Midgar Serpent is suppose to be one of Loki's kids, so I guess Atreus has been busy for a 10 year old :P

Ludwig, the First Blade. Almost lost it when he suddenly picks up the Moonlight Greatsword and comes at you with a total new moveset and the most badass music ever.
I remember watching in hushed silence when my friend took on Bayonetta's final boss for the last time. He had been at it for at least a week and then he started farming lollipops and finally beat her. I asked if the boss fight was over when it was only just beginning.
Ooh I forgot about grey fox. I always think of sniper wolf, I loved that battle but grey fox was so unique. Metal gear solid was very good with the bosses though.
Damn right, Luke. I'd have picked the stranger fight, too. I show videos of it to my friends who don't particularly play, or like, video games, and even they're often impressed. You know you made something epic when you want the part where you actually play to get done and see more cutscene. That fight and Sephiroth in FF7 will stay with me forever.
One boss fight I have always loved is the final boss fight of Metal Gear Solid 4, it’s simple but it felt so good when after crawling through an oversized microwave you are one on one beating the hell out of ocelot, the whole fist fight sequence was amazing

Persona 5, Yaldabaoth, because once you look it up after the fact, you find there's Gnostic philosophy! And then you shot that philosophy! In the face!
The only issue with them showing this one (if luke or who ever it was playing it and dropped it.) Would be that it's the final boss of a super popular game. So that would be a major spoiler.
This is one of my favorites too. The finale of the fight is just perfect. It's like something out of Dragon Ball Z when Goku charges a Spirit Bomb. Plus, you get to shoot god in the face, which is always fun in a JRPG ;)

The Hunhow boss fight in Warframe! Unlike the other bosses where you fight with your weapons, you have to recreate Octavia's Anthem to beat him!

I really liked the Guardian Ape as well. It chains the two fight styles you can have in Sekiro, which is fighting beasts or fighting humanoids. The first phase, being a beast, you can say goodbye to trying to kill it through posture and you're trying to dodge, but in the second phase, when its fight style becomes more humanoid, you pop out the deflect game and show that Ape how wrong he was to pick up that sword
I really loved the final boss fight in Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword against Demise. It's a massive swordfight against this imposing demon lord. This fight was insane, between the traded blows and the back and forth parrying of each other's attacks. And that was just the first phase. In the second, Demise decides to empower his blade with unholy lightning, making his attacks stronger and unblockable. However, you can steal this lightning and use it to stun him until you've done enough damage for the killing blow. And it's all on the Wii with it's motion controls, so you have to make each attack physically in your attempt to fell this god of evil. All in all, it's an incredibly rewarding boss fight that just felt astonishingly epic.

Definitely, mostly because it's one of the rare boss fights that make the player stop, think and plas their actions accordingly instead of plowing through like you do with 90% of the enemies in all of the Arkham games

Yami from Okami genuinely stunned me when I was facing him. After running the boss gauntlet, I didn't think anything could surprise me then they strip you of your abilities and you fight through several stages, retrieving your abilities and struggling against a boss who is always changing up his attack pattern. Then when you think you've won, he renders you weak and dives for the killing blow. I genuinely thought I'd failed or missed something before Issun restores the worlds faith in her and she can take him down in his final form once and for all. Its an honestly beautiful fight pulling together everything you've learnt and also managing to flip it all on its head.
My personal choice as well. Not sure anything in a game has hyped me more than Amaterasu howling followed by The Sun Rises starting to play.
My favorite bit in that fight is when you get the moon powers back and can summon a giant nagi to do a move that I like to call “ the moon cleaver “. So satisfying.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater - Naked Snake(later Big Boss) vs The Boss. I mean COME ON. The setting in that field, the heartbreaking circumstances that pitted you against each other, the reality of what's at stake, the music and the absolutely tear-jerking finale....just....WOW. A perfect end to a perfect game.

The battle that rocked my world was in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, against Taron Malicos.
In that battle, all the motion is so fluid and you have to respond properly fast to counter his moves that I really started to feel as if I was force-sensitive myself.
That, and you could really feel that the voice actor was completely into his role. It really sucked me into the battle completely. That... was... awesome!

Jubileus had to be stopped because she was going to reboot the universe after destroying the correct one. The sages wanted this to happen originally, so did the witches, but the sages decided to make it reboot without the balance.

Reboot, total control, total chaos, total destruction. Yep, those are the common themes of the actions of madmen
The Witches and Sages wanted to keep the balance, but then the Angels whom the Sages served corrupted everything, ironically. With the Eyes of Creation they were going to reset reality in their image. And then Jeanne managed to Bayonetta and taking her out of the statue. This would have ended up causing the leader of angels to constantly be redirected in a cycle of creation, no ending, since it only had the lumen sages holy powers and not the witches power of destruction.
In Mass Effect 3 you take on a reaper head-on on Rannoch and with the help of EDI and an entire fleet you manage to destroy it. It's not that the boss battle is hard(pretty easy). it's the epic scale of it and also a reflection of just how much of a badass your Commander Shepard is.

Kefka from Final Fantasy VI. You go into the fight like "Alright, I've got this." Then four boss battles full of allegory and thirty minutes later, you FINALLY get to Kefka himself and it's still another ten minutes before he's dead for good. There IS a trick to going through the fights quickly, a spell you can use to deal massive damage quickly, but even with the spell these are long fights with epic music playing throughout. Beautiful.
KH2 final boss. It was just so much fun with both quick times, level transitions, and of course the huge ending attack that was just wild.
100% agreement, one of, if not my favorite boss fight of all time. It was a little difficult, but it was a major power fantasy moment with both Sora and Riku showing way more power than they have through the rest of the game and the final form fight was pretty damn glorious. Then again maybe I have some rose tinted goggles for it, since I played it back in the PS2 days.
Never gonna forget slicing through buildings thrown at you before battling a mechanical dragon.

I really liked Ultra necrozma's fight as well! The max affection in my Pokémon saved me in that battle, but I know how much of a struggle it was for others.

One of the best things about the Engels fight is when you realise that, moments ago, you were running around on the body of the boss. Meaning that your goal is to literally fight and beat the level.

I’ve played both Bayonetta games many times, so I like to think I’m not precisely bad at hack and slash.
I don't love Skyward Sword as a whole, but the final gauntlet was absolutely stunning. The mob rush down to Ghirahim, then knocking him off of floating platforms to stab him in the chest-diamond, then the final battle against Demise. Demise felt like a real culmination of the motion-controlled sword and shield, and the visuals of the water, the thunderstorm, and the flaming hair all looked fantastic
Doom Dragon, Golden Sun: The Lost Age.
Not only was it a great tie in from the boss from the previous game, but it was both tragic and epic.
Cruel Ruin will wreck your day though. Try yeeting it into the sun? Or the sun into it? Oh wait, that dragon is made of...
The stages of the Lavos fight in Chrono Trigger is my stand out moment. I remember being in awe as a kid at each stage and thinking... phew its done..... nope! Not to mention the boss theme "world revolution" is undeniably one of the greatest boss themes of all time.
Ludwig The Accursed- Bloodborne. That epic and bloody battle accompanied by that soundtrack. And that sad yet honorable (if you have enough insight) dialogue when he at last falls.

Senator Armstrong from Metal Rising Revengeance! The final fight with him has awesome music and insane action that keeps you on the edge of your seat!

This was just a really fun video to listen to you that I wish you would do more of. They're not explicitly scripted, so you can really feel the emotion that each of these bosses brought to you, and the others are in the back talking with you, so you hear their reactions and the face of the speaker as they answer. This is a long, long video and yet it's probably my favorite of yours. Cheers, keep being great.
For sheer awesomeness, it's hard to top your fight in _Metal Gear Solid 3_ with The End. I remember it took me three hours to beat the first time, but it wasn't boring. It was tense, my brain whirring as I tried to outsmart this guy. Even now, it can take half an hour, easy.
I really love the final fight between Old Snake and Liquid Ocelot in _Metal Gear Solid 4_ including the cutscene leading up to it. Gameplay-wise, it wasn't earth-shattering, but the meaning behind it hit me in the feels.
Fun fact. It took me ages to get on top of that Colossus, and as soon as I finally got onto his head and was charging up my sword attack, the battery died on the controller and I fell alllllll the way down and just died.

Yes and no. A climax in literary terms is the turning point of the story where the protagonist(s) faces a dilemma or gets involved in a major struggle with an antagonist. The fight with Father Balder, then Jubileus is, ultimately, the climax of Bayonetta.

The fight with the stranger is such a wonderful piece, like you know nothing about him yet he seems to know about a past you've been hiding. You're a god and yet he's holding up to you even to ghe point of greatly injuring you and leaving you limping for a while. And everything is just so over the top, with the earth shattering and the ramming with trees and all that, the music is intense, the difficulty is right there, nothing bad really
28:29!!! No way he chose this hahah, this exact boss from this Contra game was the first thing that popped into my mind when thinking about hard bosses too hahah... I was telling myself there's no way they would every select the skull boss from Contra too. Awesome choice my man, played waaay too much of this game when I was younger but don't regret a second of it.

I like how anyone who knows a little of Norse mythology would hear "I feel nothing" and go "oh, that's Baldur. Guess Loki hasn't killed him yet." And anyone who isn't familiar would likely go "this guy is weird, I bet he's Loki."
Oh my god, I literally never got the last weakspot with the bow on malus! But you can make the jump to its collar from the hand, so I always thought, that's how you're supposed to do it. You saved me a lot of tears for my next playthrough, cause making the jump over to the collar is really, REALLY hard to do and the time window where it's even possible to pull it off is ridiculously short
Yeah, the first battle against "The Stranger" in God Of War was amazing and all, but the final fight against Baldur was just way more epic.

One of my all time favorite boss battles is weirdly enough the Eagle thing from Shadow of the Colossus. I thought it felt really cool to wait for to to swoop down to jump on its back, but it was also pretty sad that I had to kill it 😞 I just wanted to ride on it forever.
This video inspired me to get into the yakuza series about a year ago and I’ve never owed so much to video in my life
A personal favorite boss fight of mine would have to be the the one against Roxas in Kingdom Hearts 2. Because very very quickly you realize that it's not an ordinary boss fight cuz of the music it's just so emotional and challenging and all that good stuff.
Anytime you fight Roxas in the series is a good fight,really

I Love Okami :3 and Okamiden. The fight against Kurow in Okamiden was awesome and sad at the same time. and Yami in Okami was super difficult the first time i played it. I can't even count the number of times i died -_-
My favorite: the 16th Colossus (Malus) in Shadow of the Colossus.

For me, personally,it was the Clock-La boss fight from Sly Cooper 2. It was, for me at the time, an nowhere turn of events that pushed Matt and I’s play through (Matt was my friend playing with me) to the limits. From the cutscene to the fight itself was just an adrenaline rush for the younger version of ourselves. The lore that Matt and I had spent hours reading and learning and knowing the horror that was Clockwerk from the first Sky Cooper game and seeing a character who was set-up to be an ally with a cloak of mystery around them suddenly take a turn for the dark side and take over the newly put together body of Clockwerk to become Clock-La. It was insane. Even playing the game again several years later just gave me chills. I have trouble recalling all the details but it was genuinely one of my favourite moments in gaming history.
The Reaper embryo in Mass Effect 2 was to me the dopest boss fight in the series. Well one of anyway.

I stored all the charges for the nuke throughout the game because 'you gonna need them eventually'. When I faced the obvious last boss, I saw my last chance to actually use them.

SuMaSLo you do realize Heavy ammo transfers depending on your heavy weapon? Collector Beam is better
Thought of that as well but then I remembered how anticlimactic the Cain makes it.
@@spacejesus6581 Actually I originally had the Collecter Beam as my heavy weapon of choice, so the first time i did that boss fight that's what I used. But the next time i did it and everyone after I brought the Cain. I can't think of a better place to use a portable nuke than on an unfinished machine god fetus :)
My time has come. Monk Maz Koshia from Breath of the Wild: Champion’s Ballad. The DLC uses major aspects from the base game and expands on them in a new way, however when it’s time for the final boss fight, the DLC politely asks the player to hold its beer. The monk that usually congratulates you stands up and says “I offer this final trial” and kickass music starts playing. The guy has all the powers: teleportation, super speed, electricity, cloning, and he even grows gigantic at one point! The fight isn’t particularly hard if you have learned how to utilize the game’s combat system, but it is so much fun! I was left completely baffled and I couldn’t stop laughing and smiling the entire fight! It was completely different from any other fight and it taught me the boss fights can be more than just intimidation and power, and can be insanely fun and enjoyable! Also the fight music kicks ass.
The Viper bossfight in Titanfall 2 was awesome! You're fighting a flying mech on board of a spaceship racing across a planet towards a bigger spaceship. What's not to like?
Splatoon with DJ Octavio! Like I my expectations of a boss fight was low for this game and blew me away with some bosses but the final one just blew me away with it's spicy wasabi beats. One of the few games I tune everything out and was part of the game!
Nameless king from dark souls 3, all that hype about about Gwyns first born. Not to mention he rides a dragon and shoots lightning!
Now you should do a list of the most dissapointing boss battles. The type that are really hyped up, but turn out to be either too simplified, like the Tower from Shadow of Mordor, or just boring.

Fun fact: Baldr was actually the more chill out of the Norse Pantheon of Gods, so Baldr demanding a punch up with a godslayer like Kratos is out of character for him, unlike Thor and Tir
It's a pretty cool re-imagining though, changing up the invulnerability to mean he can't feel anything and is undying. Makes for an understandably unstable and angry individual with an interesting relationship with his mother

What's especially funny about their re-imagining of Norse myth is that both of Thor's son's die, where as in the original lore they are the only gods to survive Ragnarök. Whops. Also, the Midgar Serpent is suppose to be one of Loki's kids, so I guess Atreus has been busy for a 10 year old :P

Ludwig, the First Blade. Almost lost it when he suddenly picks up the Moonlight Greatsword and comes at you with a total new moveset and the most badass music ever.

I remember watching in hushed silence when my friend took on Bayonetta's final boss for the last time. He had been at it for at least a week and then he started farming lollipops and finally beat her. I asked if the boss fight was over when it was only just beginning.

Damn right, Luke. I'd have picked the stranger fight, too. I show videos of it to my friends who don't particularly play, or like, video games, and even they're often impressed. You know you made something epic when you want the part where you actually play to get done and see more cutscene. That fight and Sephiroth in FF7 will stay with me forever.
One boss fight I have always loved is the final boss fight of Metal Gear Solid 4, it’s simple but it felt so good when after crawling through an oversized microwave you are one on one beating the hell out of ocelot, the whole fist fight sequence was amazing

The only issue with them showing this one (if luke or who ever it was playing it and dropped it.) Would be that it's the final boss of a super popular game. So that would be a major spoiler.
This is one of my favorites too. The finale of the fight is just perfect. It's like something out of Dragon Ball Z when Goku charges a Spirit Bomb. Plus, you get to shoot god in the face, which is always fun in a JRPG ;)
