마언 i am a big fan of sonic but the game theory analise sonic speed and on sonic unleshed hd on max level sonic run 80m per second so 206 miles per hour i know sonic run faster than hypersonic speed and he go to the moon in one second i think he don't run like dat on his adventures (games) becuse he wil lose all of his forces he wil stay hungry and more.
The thing is, people saying Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed ripped off of Mario Kart 8 is quite ironic, because the former came out in 2012, and the latter came out in 2014...
Feels like you're missing on a lot of points to talk about, one of those being the soundtrack, in which Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed takes the cake by doing the bests remixes of old sagas. Also you failed to show that you can multiplayer the career mode in Transformed, which means you can do all those cool boss battles, traffic attack, etc modes with a friend, and since Sonic got the point for best Single Player because of its career mode, failing to say this is huge. Also unfair to give the Best Value to Mario Kart if you're going to talk about Nintendo Switch version, when this was initially a Wii U comparison, in which case you should've mentioned how PC got unlimited amounts of tracks in Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed FOR FREE simply due to mods being available on the platform.
I dunno...Mount Wario, Electrodrome, Bowser's castle, etc are all great songs in MK8. True...but that alone doesn't make it better then MK8's with how solid MK8's gameplay is and it's online multiplayer and such. I mean...even the Wii U had better value. Ok that's less fair, by that logic you could just bring up MK8 Wii U mods then.
(Huge wall of text incoming.) As much as I enjoyed the video, I'm going to have to say that I think Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is the winner here. While both games are unique in their own ways, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed's gameplay stands out more given that there are parts of a track where you can change vehicles to go with the track's flow. Mario Kart 8's gameplay has essentially been the same ever since Super Mario Kart: Collect items to hit your opponents and finish the race. The anti-gravity mechanic, which was first used in Crash Nitro Kart, didn't really feel new to me. Depending on what kart combination and character you're using, it can be both helpful and a hindrance depending on what track you play on. Drifting in Mario Kart, while decent, just overall feels unsteady, especially given that there are some tracks that require you to turn immediately on 200cc. Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed addresses this issue by introducing a technique called Switch-Drifting, where you can still maintain a Level 1 or 2 Boost when you're greeted with one turn after the other. Mario Kart's drifting system is time-based, and depending on how fast you're turning your kart, your Drift meter is charged. The AI in Mario Kart is flimsy. In some instances, the AI goes slow when you're far behind in a race. However, when you're much further ahead, the AI will stop at nothing to prevent you from winning. This is especially notable on a 200cc Grand Prix, where sometimes, the AI will drive into walls should they use a Mushroom on straightaways. The AI in S&ASRT depends on what skill level you're playing at. C Class is 50cc, and S Class is 200cc. In C class, the AI goes easy on you, but on the A and S Classes, they actually put up a fight and will stop you from winning at all costs. While I'm on this, Mario Kart has luck-based gameplay whereas S&ASRT relies on your skills. S&ASRT also allows players to do tricks to help them build up boosts, whereas Mario Kart 8 only lets you do one trick and land in order to get a boost. However, should you get hit by an item such as a Red Shell, the Trick you performed will not be counted. S&ASRT's Trick system is unique, allowing players to perform Flips or Rolls to build up Boost power for when they land. In the air, they can also help them get a "Risk Boost" when they flip or roll away from an incoming obstacle. Mario Kart has always had its share of items, some of which are considered to be the worst in the series (Such as the Blooper, Super Leaf, the Coin, and the infamous Spiny Shell). You have the staple Mushroom, Banana, Red/Green Shells, Spiny Shells, and Stars. The problem here is the luck within an Item Box. If you're playing an online race and you're in first, you'll end up getting either a Coin or Green Shell. S&ASRT's items are also luck-based, but they are more dependent on how far behind a player is. The All-Star, S&ASRT's most powerful item, can really help you get back into the race as it turns your character's kart into a plane that glides along the ground and shoot projectiles to slow others down. There are also item monitors called "Super Pickups" that give you three or six shots of a certain item. For first time players, S&ASRT includes a tutorial to teach players how to play the game and to clear certain objectives. Mario Kart's learning curve, especially for newcomers, is a little too steep. However, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe addressed this by adding Smart Steering and Auto-Accelerating. The former keeps the player from going off-road and the latter lets you accelerate without holding down the A or Y buttons. So, in my opinion, S&ASRT gets the award for best gameplay. Now for tracks, Mario Kart 8 has a good selection of tracks that make it stand out from each other. My most favorite track to race on is 3DS Music Park. It shows how far Nintendo went with their graphics. They have beautiful design and are well thought out. S&ASRT's selection of tracks is good in their own right, with the most common fact being they represent all of Sega's well-known and lesser-known franchises. My favorite track in S&ASRT is Galactic Parade. The Classic Cup reused four tracks from the original Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, and while they do feel cramped with 10 players, I didn't mind them as much. Therefore, Mario Kart 8 gets the award for the best tracks. Now for the racers: A common complaint with the Mario Kart franchise (starting from Mario Kart: Double Dash!! up to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe) is there are too many clone characters. If you ask me, the new racers in Mario Kart 8/Deluxe (Baby Rosalina, Pink Gold Peach, the Koopalings, Tanooki Mario, Cat Peach, and Gold Mario) are uninspired. That means there are 5 copies of Mario to race as, 4 going to Peach, and 2 going to Bowser. To sum it up, there are only 21 characters to play as. There is little to no variety between the characters. S&ASRT's roster, however, represents Sega as a whole. You've got characters from the Sonic franchise, Beat and Gum from Jet Set Radio, Ulala and Pudding from Space Channel 5, you name it. The PC version of S&ASRT even includes third-party characters such as Team Fortress and the (rather obnoxious) mascot of the Yogscast RUclips channel. To sum it up, S&ASRT wins the award for having the best characters. Now for Single-Player, I agree with everything you've said. Mario Kart 8's single-player mode could've offered more than just racing to unlock more characters and duking it out on the battlefield. S&ASRT has a good single-player campaign that unlocks a new difficulty level when you reach Superstar Showdown. Some missions in World Tour are hard to deal with (Such as the Pursuit and Traffic Attack missions), but they're well worth it when you come out on top. On top of that, you're rewarded with mods and characters that require a certain number of Stars to unlock. S&ASRT gets best Single-Player. Multiplayer in Mario Kart has always been a staple of the series ever since Super Mario Kart. It brings family and friends together for a wild race across all 48 tracks in the game, but that's where the fun ends. Mario Kart's multiplayer is basically the same as single-player mode, but with more people. S&ASRT's multiplayer, on the other hand, is much more fun than Mario Kart. For starters, the Wii U version supports 5 players, but the fun doesn't stop there. You can do everything intended for single-player with your friends, including World Tour! Depending on the version you play, you can take up to 4 or 5 spots in an online lobby. Mario Kart, while fun in the multiplayer department, doesn't feel any different from the single-player mode. S&ASRT gets best multiplayer. Finally, the pricing. While Mario Kart 8 has a good price, the amount of content it has is enough to keep me coming back just to play more races and sharpen my skills. S&ASRT, as this video said, has been released across 6 platforms. The game has enough content to keep me coming back to it as well as inviting my friends over to do 5-player races and play in the Wii U-exclusive Party play. It features two modes named Ninja Tag and Banana Heist. In the former, the Wii U GamePad player controls Joe Musashi and must tag all the other players before time runs out, and in the latter, the GamePad player controls AiAi and must flatten the other players as they scramble around the arena collecting bananas. These sum up why I prefer playing Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed more than Mario Kart 8. In some ways (as another user pointed out), the game is much faster than Mario Kart 8 and is more based on skill rather than luck.
yo you wrote all of that and you get hated on. that probably took you half an hour to type and by the time you had posted it you realised that mario kart is better because it actually uses KARTS most of the time as it is a KART racing game unlike sonic.
18:30 PC version have no problem as far as i remember it, solid 60 fps even on old PC on 4 players split-screen. It also have more characters from PC sega games and ith cheap. You mention Switch version so why no PC?
3:33 There's a mechanic in flight mode called 'Risk Boost' where near missing an obstacle is rewarded by a boost, it' tricky to pull off but really raises the skill ceiling and makes flight mode much more engaging, anyway in short I disagree with your assessment on the plane sections, I thought they were easily the most stimulating parts of the entire game.
The fact you threw deluxe in the end is unfair considering deluxe is taking everything good and making it better and was supposed to be 8 and transformed so I would say a tie debates like these should be used in percentage considering transforms stages change on the 3rd lap and 8 stays almost identical but transformed stages are more clunky while 8 stages are too easy imo
The casino course in Transformed may seem out of place because it and the courses it shares a cup with were brought back from Sonic & SEGA All-stars Racing.
Sonic Racing has 1 long varied track instead of 3 repeatable loops* "It's hard to get a good feel of the track and it's hard to speedrun" Mario Kart does literally the same thing* "This is the best course this game has to offer" Ok bud
@@Continental_Champ it’s also very easy to tell that you are also bias bc of your pfp. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is literally the best selling racing game of all time. We know which one is better let’s not lie now.
@@JesseLogan134 No. Just because I like Sonic doesn't mean I'm biased towards one game. It's easy to see the bias towards Mario Kart in this video, from the kind of statements he makes, as said in the original comment.
I prefer sonic and all star racing transformed because of how fast it is and level designs are great flying and body racing is fun and character selection is good But mk8 is fun and addictive but really is just like every other game not really that fun after a while
Aliens Studios Productions That's just the Wii U version. PC actually adds more characters from SEGA's PC Titles. *Football Manager *Shogun (Shogun Total War) *Willemus (Total War: Rome II) *General Winters (Company of Heroes) Ryo from Shenmue comes back for the PC version, and two more guest characters are added *Team Fortress (TF2...duh) -Heavy (Sea) -Pyro (Road) -Spy (Air) *Yogscast as DLC
Don't agree. Compared to SASR-T, I've seen some pretty bullshit wins in Mario Kart, where in the former I feel like I earned my win or loss pretty much every time.
I like 'em both, but Mario Kart will probably always be king. Sonic's DEFINITELY more skill-based though. Some of the Sonic roster choices were questionable. Blaze from Streets of Rage could've easily replaced Danica Patrick.
Sofia Have you played Sonic Transformed on the hardest difficulty? 200cc isn't that hard, the problem is that the stages aren't made for it. So you have to adjust to that fact. Sonic is hard because the CPU are actually on a whole different level. I've mastered stages and can mop the floor with people online in sonic as long as I'm not spammed with weapons like it's MK but on extreme difficulty, I'll do a stage flawlessly and hit every boost opportunity, (I know all the advance boost techs and the science behind boosts in transformed) and they still can catch you with a simple mess up and if you fall a certain distance behind, you might as well forget about it because they're not going to be caught unless spammed with weapons, which is unlikely
iKickBullies I agree 200cc on mk8 was a cake walk to the point it was boring playing single player (people don't realise there is a break button) compared the Sonic's hardest difficulty and expert ghost times where you mess up once GAME OVER
Both game are good but it depends on the player's taste. If you want a competitive and challenging race you play Sonic. But if you prefer more casual type you play Mario
Best gameplay goes to Mario Kart 8? For being 'less jarring' that's incredibly biased, a game can't be judged for having jarring gameplay, that just means you need to undestand the inner workings, if you don't, you don't have an excuse to judge the game fairly. Mario Kart 8 literally does nothing with the plane/boat mechanics, gliders just have you slowly glide down, its boring, nothing ever happens unless someone has a homing item as normal items just dunk straight downwards. Boat is just slightly slower and floatier kart racing, racing on the surface is a lot more appealing, for example, watching the giant mines from Rogue's Landing fall into the water, creating big waves that bounce you upwards, allowing you to perform tricks and get major boosts.
I appreciate your feedback and trust me I've gotten a lot of it for this video; both good and bad. While I think you've expressed yourself very concisely and thoroughly, I take issue with a few of your statements: -I didn't just give Mario Kart 8 best gameplay for being "less jarring", I gave an entire laundry list of reasons as to why *I personally* think Mario Kart 8 has better gameplay. Mario Kart 8 has consistent gameplay, which *I personally* enjoy a bit more than the three racing styles on offer from SaASRT. -I don't understand what you mean by "inner workings" either, I can't judge a game if I don't know the coding and game engines? I don't ever judge a game based on those facets because as a consumer, what I see is what I get, I'm not at liberty to judge those things and I don't really know of a game critic who does analyze that. -I don't think I came across as biased in the video. I think I was pretty fair to both titles; listing good things and bad things about them. I understand your other criticisms and trust me, I do take them to heart. There's a lot about this video I wish I could change or leave out in retrospect, but I think purely as someone who plays games, *My choice* for better title is Mario Kart 8. Remember, I'm just a schlub who plays games on occasion, I'm no coding expert or game designer, what I say in a comparison is not the be-all end-all and is just my opinion.
I think what he meant by inner workings of the game is that the game is more interesting at its core due to the uniqueness of it and tbh I found the gliding to be much more intrusive and jarring in Mario than the plane sections in sonic because the gliders have no weight to them, the gliding controls often lead me to my death(at least with the planes they kept the same controls and weren't weightless idiots), the fact you can go underwater/glide but not fly and ride in planes/boats is a little silly and the idea of gliding in cars is just silly in my eyes and for all you harped on about customisation and all that other than a few different vehicle bodies(seriously play the game again they reused certain bodies again but gave different colour schemes to them which to me = laziness), wheels and gliders which never really alter your stats at all anyway comes off more redundant than innovative whereas sonic has different mods for the same vehicle(s)for each character and special ones for a select few and exclusive ones for some characters(super acceleration for shadow, super speed for sonic and more I cannot remember)which makes races feel different(to varying degrees of difference)also to be completely honest Mario kart 8 was dull and uninteresting for me personally, its too luck based, has boring tracks, the gliding and underwater weren't utilised very well next to the blatant sonic riders:ZG copy of antigravity(it takes more after F zero in execution though), the characters are bad, the vehicles are boring, the amount modes are despicably bad and both my sister and I found multiplayer underwhelming and boring next to sonic also the sonic multiplayer has no performance issues for me so that is moot and overall sonic is just more interesting in my eyes.
Great comments, you make many good points. For me though, Mario Kart 8 was the best in the series since Double Dash, and really the most fun I've had with a Mario Kart title since I was a little kid. I think just the sheer accessibility made it slightly more appealing to myself and friends. Trust me, I spent hours of time on SaASRT, but for someone like myself who considers himself a "casual gamer" and rarely plays games that involve a lot of time investing or learning. I think Mario Kart's gameplay has the pick up and play aspect down pat which for many is enough to keep players intrigued. In honesty, I like both games a lot! Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is my go-to single player kart racer and Mario Kart 8 is my go-to multiplayer racer. There's things I like and dislike about each title, which is something I try to ensure of any two games I compare on this segment. Thanks for watching, I appreciate the comments. Very well expressed and justified.
The red shells piss me off. They are far too common. Every time I'm in the lead I get hit by one. Then I get hit by something else then I end up in 7th place within two seconds
To the part you say about the flying not having many mechanics.. If you avoid an obstacle while in aerial mode (with the right stick) You will get what is called a "Risk Boost" if you get skilled at rolling out of the way of obstacles you can pretty much chain boosts non stop. This brings even more skill into play.
Almost the exact opposite... Best Gameplay: SASRT Best Tracks: SASRT Best Racers: MK8 Best Single Player: SASRT Best Multiplayer: Draw Best Value: Draw (SASRT is much better but nobody plays it anymore)
@@JesseLogan134 No. Absolutely not. Cyberpunk 2077, FIFA, CoD, Battlefield, GTA V, Destiny 1&2, Deathloop... Just few examples of how sales and awards mean nothing.
For All-Stars you said five platforms, but the PC version wasn't on the image. So that's six platforms, then. And as the PC comprises everything from desktops over laptops to handhelds and living room setups, that adds another whole level of diverse ways you can access and play the game.
Allstars transformed is the best kart racer of all time. One of my top 5 games of all time. MK8 is great, but Xformed is deeper, faster, and more skill driven. Its just an unbelievable amount of fun.
I prefer sonic and all stars racing transformed, the drift is better, and there is another platform you missed, mobile... I know it doesn't work on some mobile devices, and it may be lacking in a few things, but my ipod handles it greatly
I want to get more of my friends into Sonic Sega All stars racing. However I always find there's a Mario Kart or nothing mentality with my friends. It's edged in their brains and it's easier to pick up and play . That's nothing against Sega, it just seems to be the world I live in
I personally believe the first one should be a tie cause if you want more simple controls theres mario kart 8 want more complex controls theres sega all star racing, should have been a tie.
I kind of disagree Though Mario Kart 8 is fun, I feel as if it follows the same formula as all the other games, with only 3-5 Editions S&SASRT however is much more diverse, and changes a lot from its predecessor Plus It’s on multiple consoles Over all I like S&SASRT better But that’s my opinion Feel free to disagree
Reason why I find Sonic racing games (purely All Star Racing not Riders or R) better is mainly how difficulty works. Unlike Mario Kart the difficulty of the actual racers (mainly the AI) doesn't effect the speed of the actual race. Plus in order to fully complete Mario Kart games you have to play all Grand Prixs on all type of difficulty or in CCs. With Sonic that is not at all the case. 100% always full speed no matter the difficulty. It is also not required to play much more pathetically easier levels of difficulty in order to unlock more of the game like new characters. In that regard Sonic heavily beats Mario. But as ASP said it is more harder to bring in friends or family into something like Sonic rather than Mario Kart which by the way is very beginner friendly and just overall a much better causal experience. If your gonna play Sonic than make sure you brought your A game along with mastering the various gimmicks used in Sonic.
I have a few problems with this video, so I'll list the 2 biggest ones here: 1. Your complaints about the drift mechanic in Mario Kart 8 can also be said about MKWii and MK7, it seems as if you have played them as you mention that the Underwater and Glider mechanics are more ferined than 7. 2. For a majority of the video, you consider Mario Kart 8 to be just the Wii U version, but at the end of the video, you decide to add Mario Kart 8 Deluxe to the mix. By doing this, you have to redo parts of the video to include information about Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, but you never do that. Also, it's Bowser Jr., not Baby Bowser. They're two separate characters.
Best value to me: Sonic Transformed. Since it's available on multiple platforms. I do not have a Wii u or a Switch. And I like arcade more than kart. And in Super Mario Kart previously, I always last around placement 6-7. And I never multiplay. :)
S&ART Is not only for 5 platforms, It also has a mobile version (which would be like a hybrid between the PSVITA and 3DS version because of the graphics)
sunshine tour, shibuya downtown, roulette road and egg hangar are from the previous game, SASASR, which is why they feel less designed for boosts, as the game was slower paced although i agree with you on chilly castle and egg hangar was dlc in SASASR
Transformed was released in 2012 and MK8 was released in 2014, giving it a 2 year advantage over Transformed. And you're saying these two games weren't compared properly because they didn't use a definition edition that was released in 2017, by then giving it a 5 year advantage over Transformed? The comparison of two Wii u games was fair enough!
Sonic and All Stars Racing Transformed runs like butter on PC. It's a better multiplayer experience when played on any decent and even an entry gaming rig even with 4 player coop. Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed is also by far more skill-based with speed, drifting and even tricks giving players way more control. Many mechanics also work on a risk vs reward system like start line boosting, trick landing and etcetera.
CTR was based on Diddy Kong racing. A prototype stage to test things out was a Diddy Kong racing stage they just ripped off to see how things would work.
Chamushgoo Yeah I like it sometimes when the tracks don't have the same lap over and over, that's why I like Mount Wario the best in Mario Kart 8; the laps are all different.
May I ask why the first two Marios are on the right, then two Sonics on the left, then two Marios on the left? Based on the first 4 faces, Mario’s side is the right, while Sonic resides on the left. So why does Mario just jump over to the left for no reason? I’m confused.
I liked Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed, but it was glitchy, I remember falling through tracks and not being able to finish a race because I got stuck in the track
Sonic gave me a story and reason to do races.. Mario kart is fine for multiplayer, but gets tired quickly for me.. I’m mainly single player, and there’s no reason to keep playing (for me)
I've played Mario Kart 8 (still do) way more than I've played ASRT, but I honestly feel that ASRT is just the better racing game due to its mechanics. ASRT takes more skill than Mario Kart 8, is way faster, and more forgiving with items. The main problem in ASRT is the online bumping.
You're obviously a mario fanboy and here's why: 1. All stars racing has less frustration due to the fact that it's actually skill based and you're not gonna loose in the last few seconds just cause someone got lucky with an item. 2. Anti-gravity. Sonic all-stars racing has it too. 3. Best characters section affect multiplayer experience too. So do the best tracks section so let's call it a tie there. 4. You judged the multiplayer performance on the wii u (which isn't exactly the strongest system so yes, performance is gonna take a hit for 3rd party titles) and didn't mention any other versions. But for some reason you decided to bring the switch version of mario kart in discussion at the end to tilt the balance in its favor. If you're gonna make these videos, take all things into consideration. Not just what you like and dislike about the games or your choice of console.
I prefer Sonic Racing Transformed over Mk8 for so many reasons, lets see... -The game is faster -Less luck based -The drift works better imo -Doing the aerial tricks to gain boost is trickier, since you can either get a huge boost or be slowed down if you get too cocky -Water and air segments make more sense since gameplay changes more in then -There is a very cool mission mode, instead of just grand prix -More variety of chars (in mk8 you have 3 types of chars: all around, speed and heavy and chats with good acceleration and handling. in sonic you have all these 3 types plus more, eggman for example has good speed and handling) -You can play locally up to 5 people instead of 4 (rly, Nintendo? sega used the wii u features better than you?) -You can play online with 5 local friends instead of 2 -Unlocking the secret chars is hard, it feels good when you finally unlock them I like both games, but I have to say sonic racing transformed is better, possibly my favorite racing game ever Anyway, great video!
See, the fast part in mario kart depends on your skill level(Its harder when more speed, like when you start sonic racing: challenging 150cc or 200cc even thought it is kinda broken, the mario kart 8 creaters thought that it would be better for better gemeplay (Framreate mostly or for the game to work properly when 4 or less players) And unlocking new karts like the ones you like may be hard, theres a point to playing single player so you can unlock all karts so thats whats good about single player, the game also dosent go straight to changing gameplay for beginners, but the gameplay itself is hard to master in some tracks so even with one basic racing style it is still interesting, there is the classic battlemode with special battle tracks in deluxe + more fan favourite characters and all characters can use all karts. My opinion thought since i also like playing S&ASRT but i still like both of them alot.
That is a shame, but it is available on PC as well and it's a well made version that runs at 60fps fairly easily. I sold my Wii U copy once I bought it on Steam
Transformed has risks boosts when flying. You get these boost when you flip (to left, right, down, up) just before you crash into something. This makes flying fast and high risk / high reward
Sonic wins. It's so much more fun as a single player game and still fun on multiplayer while Mario is useless on single player and great as multiplayer. Sonic is just a more complete game and actually requires you to become highly skilled to beat the game on hard or expert level.
I agree with you. Mario Kart 8 loses some fun in multiplayer with the absence of battle tracks, and the value for Sonic Racing is much higher with Steam sales (yes, the game is on Steam, but this video didn't mention it.) But at least now the game can have some much needed attention.
Kinda wish that you had used footage from people that weren't apparently suffering some sort of medical emergency for the Sonic multiplayer section. I didn't notice anyone in the Mario multiplayer section slowly grinding up against a wall at the start of the race, or grinding up against a wall until they turned around like they did in the Sonic section.
@@jimmyeddy I mean, there's "bad at Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed" and there's "apparently put the entire controller in their mouth so that they could play the game and practice french kissing at the same time," and one or more of the people in the Sonic multiplayer sections were clearly doing the latter. But, while I have you here, what is your opinion on the PC port of S&ASRT, since that should mitigate the performance issues that it had on the WiiU in addition to having some more characters available?
Sonic is fast, but the reason he drives a car in Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, Transformed, and even Team Sonic Racing is because nobody can beat him on foot.
Well,if you search online, Sonic all stars racing transformed had the idea of transforming first while Mario Kart stole it and came out first while Sonic all stars racing transformed was still in development for graphics and mechanics. So people could say that Mario Kart 8 copied and is a Rip off that came before of Sonic all stars racing transformed.Im not lying
Sonic Transformed. At least in that game, RNG can't decide that you should be held up for 30 seconds as everyone passes by because you were in first for 10 seconds.
honestly all stars transformed is a bit better if you're really competitive and want creativity, but for the more conservative players who don't want something too different, Mario Kart is the way to go
I'm not shocked at all, if only because MK8 is more accessible. Didn't stop me from trying to learn as much as possible from S&ASRT and in the end I thought that it was better than MK8. Even DX I'd say. I preferred the overall Level Design, Characters, Music and I still think Transformed has the best single gimmick in any Kart Racer next to Double Dash. That being said, my only major issue with Transformed is actually that I don't think that it was fully play tested; it's a bit buggy in certain areas.
My opinion Super Mario Kart > Sonic Drift Mario Kart Super Circuit > Sonic Drift 2 Mario Kart 64 > Sonic R Mario Kart Double Dash < Sonic Riders Mario Kart DS < Sonic Riders Zero Gravity Mario Kart Wii < Sonic & Sega All Stars Racing Mario Kart 7 < Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed Mario Kart 8 ? Team Sonic Racing
I don't understand why you included MK8D on this list. Because if you include the port that obviously has a better framerate and more stuff to offer, then why didn't you just compare the Xbox One version of S&ASRT? Because you complained about the Wii U's bad framerate in multiplayer, but the other console versions have much better framerates.
The gist of it is, that in my opinion, Mario Kart 8 is a better value regardless of the version of the game whether it's Wii U or Switch. The multiplayer in Mario Kart 8 is better too, regardless of which version of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed you have. Also, I don't believe there is a version of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed on the Xbox One, correct me if I'm wrong though.
You are entitled to your opinion, of course, but if that is how you felt you should not have even mentioned the Switch version. Doing so made it appear as though your decision was based solely on MK8D(not MK8) being of better value than a game that was released almost five years prior. But hey, they're both great games either way you slice it. Also there is no XBOX ONE version the XBOX360 version is backwards compatible with the system.
the one reason i absolutely prefer sonic racing over mk8 is how much more of an actual skill curve there is, and the game is still fairly suitable for casuals players to pick up my unfortunately long experience from mario kart is that you completely forget about game skill and have items play out the outcome of the match
So biased why did you even do a chart if you marked Mario cart 8 #1 for value when it costs 3 times as much? You should have just said "I like Mario cart 8 better"
Wow, a versus RUclips video that doesn't end in a tie! Also, I gotta say, MK8 for the win. I never really saw an obvious skill based gap between the two. Yeah, MK8 items can turn games but shortcuts and item timing are a lot more crucial.

i understand other characters but i think sonic should have just a boost thingy in his feet, because he is the fastest thing alive

I sincerely prefer the Sonic & Sega All-Star Racing, it has a feeling of speed that I can not find in Mario Kart
Agreed
The first one or transformed?
@@astralmasterThe first, but the Transformed is not bad either
._.
200cc has more feeling of speed(I love oth gmes).
I prefer Sonic All Stars Racing more. I find it a lot more skill demanding than MK8. I still enjoy playing MK8 on my Switch tho.
Chobo ooooohh mario kart is soo skill based
Der Blaue Freddinator play rainbow road 200cc. Have fun.
Chobo you do know that all stars also has shortcuts right
Der blaue freddinator try the same with wario's gold mine
Try 200CC
I agree
@@majbur2378 yep
I dunno...Mount Wario, Electrodrome, Bowser's castle, etc are all great songs in MK8. True...but that alone doesn't make it better then MK8's with how solid MK8's gameplay is and it's online multiplayer and such.
I mean...even the Wii U had better value. Ok that's less fair, by that logic you could just bring up MK8 Wii U mods then.
Two things:
1. There are more options to boost when you are a plane in S&ASRT.
2. S&ASRT is available in all consoles while MK8 isn't.

And you can play as football manager for some reason

(Huge wall of text incoming.)
As much as I enjoyed the video, I'm going to have to say that I think Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is the winner here.
Blackstar Dude shit...
yo you wrote all of that and you get hated on. that probably took you half an hour to type and by the time you had posted it you realised that mario kart is better because it actually uses KARTS most of the time as it is a KART racing game unlike sonic.

Well said dude:D but damn you sure wrote a book XD
Does it really matter in the end.. one was a commercial success the other was not
18:30 PC version have no problem as far as i remember it, solid 60 fps even on old PC on 4 players split-screen. It also have more characters from PC sega games and ith cheap. You mention Switch version so why no PC?
Xbox one isnt bad either
Sonic Racing has more personality into it depending on the character you pick
Exactly
The casino course in Transformed may seem out of place because it and the courses it shares a cup with were brought back from Sonic & SEGA All-stars Racing.

Sonicfire 28 UGH 😑
KINGOFTHEGIHDORAHS lol
iKickBullies I agree 200cc on mk8 was a cake walk to the point it was boring playing single player (people don't realise there is a break button) compared the Sonic's hardest difficulty and expert ghost times where you mess up once GAME OVER
bk cw No shit.
Both game are good but it depends on the player's taste. If you want a competitive and challenging race you play Sonic. But if you prefer more casual type you play Mario
SONIC & ALL STARS RACING TRANSFORMED is awesome.. I love the three types or racing..(Yes the 3 of them). I bought the game for WiiU, XBOX360 and 3DS..
While I think you've expressed yourself very concisely and thoroughly, I take issue with a few of your statements:
-I didn't just give Mario Kart 8 best gameplay for being "less jarring", I gave an entire laundry list of reasons as to why *I personally* think Mario Kart 8 has better gameplay.
Why And How Is A Over Priced Piece Of
Sh1t Still Better Than
A Godmode9 Sonic Game!?
The red shells piss me off. They are far too common. Every time I'm in the lead I get hit by one. Then I get hit by something else then I end up in 7th place within two seconds
To the part you say about the flying not having many mechanics..
If you avoid an obstacle while in aerial mode (with the right stick)
You will get what is called a "Risk Boost" if you get skilled at rolling out of the way of obstacles you can pretty much chain boosts non stop.
This brings even more skill into play.
Almost the exact opposite...

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe after becoming the best selling racing game of all time: “Say that again?”
@@JesseLogan134 "Best selling" does not mean "better".
@@4400seriesFAN Well if Sonic Racing was better don’t you think that’d have more sales? 🤔
@@JesseLogan134 No. Absolutely not. Cyberpunk 2077, FIFA, CoD, Battlefield, GTA V, Destiny 1&2, Deathloop... Just few examples of how sales and awards mean nothing.
21:09 You put Mario on the Sonic´s table XD
Sad, I enjoy transformed more.
For All-Stars you said five platforms, but the PC version wasn't on the image. So that's six platforms, then. And as the PC comprises everything from desktops over laptops to handhelds and living room setups, that adds another whole level of diverse ways you can access and play the game.
I prefer Transformed personally. It grabbed my attention longer.
I kind of disagree
Though Mario Kart 8 is fun, I feel as if it follows the same formula as all the other games, with only 3-5 Editions
S&SASRT however is much more diverse, and changes a lot from its predecessor
Plus
It’s on multiple consoles
Over all
I like S&SASRT better
But that’s my opinion
Feel free to disagree
I'm going for All-Star Cause To Me It Looks Like It Will Be Insane Of How Fast The Cars Can Go.
Counting a version that isn't even out yet is so unfair
TBH having a more diverse single player just makes you wish that there was multiplayer versions of everything like in Mario kart 8
If you don't have friends then go for sonic
If you have friends then go for mario
it's that simple really.
-Trust me i don't have friends-
Try to play capture the chao with a friend. IT is a easy way to lose a friendship
XD
Sega made more use for this game for the Wii u than Nintendo made Mario kart 8 on there own console shaking my head.
It's a shame but only a a few titles ever used the Wii U's capabilities.
I have a few problems with this video, so I'll list the 2 biggest ones here:
SART is better for sure. Way more fun
Mission Mode was such a great feature in Mario Kart DS, idk why they haven’t revisited it
sunshine tour, shibuya downtown, roulette road and egg hangar are from the previous game, SASASR, which is why they feel less designed for boosts, as the game was slower paced
although i agree with you on chilly castle
and egg hangar was dlc in SASASR
The retro tracks in MK8 are actually fairly different from their original versions
But the Switch version wasn't out yet. Can it actually be compared properly?
Transformed was released in 2012 and MK8 was released in 2014, giving it a 2 year advantage over Transformed. And you're saying these two games weren't compared properly because they didn't use a definition edition that was released in 2017, by then giving it a 5 year advantage over Transformed? The comparison of two Wii u games was fair enough!
A surprisingly thorough review. Great video.
Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is probably the best kart game ever made
Karts? no the driving CARS!
CTR was based on Diddy Kong racing. A prototype stage to test things out was a Diddy Kong racing stage they just ripped off to see how things would work.
Who’s the better driver? Sonic or Mario? Check out this episode of Versus to find out!
Chamushgoo Yeah I like it sometimes when the tracks don't have the same lap over and over, that's why I like Mount Wario the best in Mario Kart 8; the laps are all different.
Nice! Let me know when you've done it, would love to check it out!
Aliens Studios sonic transformed is also on PS3 the prove is I have it on PS3
Aliens Studios sonic for sure
Conclution: Sonic is for Hardcores and for play with a friend; and Mario is for Begginers and for play with friends in your house/online
May I ask why the first two Marios are on the right, then two Sonics on the left, then two Marios on the left? Based on the first 4 faces, Mario’s side is the right, while Sonic resides on the left. So why does Mario just jump over to the left for no reason?
I’m confused.
That was a cool comparison, I really love both of them!
I liked Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed, but it was glitchy, I remember falling through tracks and not being able to finish a race because I got stuck in the track
Agreed, I would have loved more racer variety in MK8
Sonic gave me a story and reason to do races.. Mario kart is fine for multiplayer, but gets tired quickly for me.. I’m mainly single player, and there’s no reason to keep playing (for me)
I've played Mario Kart 8 (still do) way more than I've played ASRT, but I honestly feel that ASRT is just the better racing game due to its mechanics. ASRT takes more skill than Mario Kart 8, is way faster, and more forgiving with items. The main problem in ASRT is the online bumping.
You're obviously a mario fanboy and here's why:

I'm pretty sure there was no boost pads in the original game
WHAT IS THE NAME OF THE OST THAT STARTS ON 1:09
It's the Mission I theme from the original Double Dragon
I prefer Sonic Racing Transformed over Mk8 for so many reasons, lets see...
-The game is faster
-Less luck based
-The drift works better imo
-Doing the aerial tricks to gain boost is trickier, since you can either get a huge boost or be slowed down if you get too cocky
-Water and air segments make more sense since gameplay changes more in then
-There is a very cool mission mode, instead of just grand prix
-More variety of chars (in mk8 you have 3 types of chars: all around, speed and heavy and chats with good acceleration and handling. in sonic you have all these 3 types plus more, eggman for example has good speed and handling)
-You can play locally up to 5 people instead of 4 (rly, Nintendo? sega used the wii u features better than you?)
-You can play online with 5 local friends instead of 2
-Unlocking the secret chars is hard, it feels good when you finally unlock them
I like both games, but I have to say sonic racing transformed is better, possibly my favorite racing game ever
Anyway, great video!
I love Sonic allstars more better..♥
And sonic all stars fucks it up because it runs at 30fps
That is a shame, but it is available on PC as well and it's a well made version that runs at 60fps fairly easily. I sold my Wii U copy once I bought it on Steam
Caio Leite half of what you said isn't true lol
15:12 Koopa has been in Mariokart since the SNES, don't leave him out of the "series staples"
They are both good in their own ways. :)
Transformed has risks boosts when flying.
You get these boost when you flip (to left, right, down, up) just before you crash into something. This makes flying fast and high risk / high reward
Did nobody catch "Space Channel 9?", "Baby Bowser" and "Samba De Amego?"
Anyways, decent video.
Yes, a few folks have and they've all let me know about it ha ha. It's funny too because I know all of these things but I was doing it off the cuff.
Sonic wins. It's so much more fun as a single player game and still fun on multiplayer while Mario is useless on single player and great as multiplayer. Sonic is just a more complete game and actually requires you to become highly skilled to beat the game on hard or expert level.
Don't agree with the outcome but great video, thanks
I agree with you. Mario Kart 8 loses some fun in multiplayer with the absence of battle tracks, and the value for Sonic Racing is much higher with Steam sales (yes, the game is on Steam, but this video didn't mention it.) But at least now the game can have some much needed attention.
waait, wait, MARIOKART 8 DELUXE IS NEARLY THE SAME!!!!!!! AND IT IS EXPENSIVE ASS HELL
Sonic all stars transformed is with games with gold in june for xbox!
The person I played with sucked at Sonic but was great at Mario Kart ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
@@lnsflare1 I think maybe we used Wii remotes for that? Idk it's been a while, but looking back at it, I can't really disagree
I stil dont know why sonic needs a car he can run superfast right?
sonic would be the only character in the game then he needs a car to be fair
He can't fly or swim.
Besides, he enjoys extreme sports, which racing would count as.
lnsflare1 right
Sonic is fast, but the reason he drives a car in Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, Transformed, and even Team Sonic Racing is because nobody can beat him on foot.
These comments back then is and still dumb to me till this day when it's SOOOO obvious.
It also came out for PC with team fortress racer added, had alot of fun playing it with my niece, easily the best multiplatform kart racer out there
Race Car*
Team Sonic racing is coming this year 2018
2019*
SONIC IS BETTER BECUSE ITS HARD ITS FUN IT HAS COOL CHARATERS
Sonic has more graphics then mario
Well,if you search online, Sonic all stars racing transformed had the idea of transforming first while Mario Kart stole it and came out first while Sonic all stars racing transformed was still in development for graphics and mechanics. So people could say that Mario Kart 8 copied and is a Rip off that came before of Sonic all stars racing transformed.Im not lying
oh don't worry i believe you and yeah your right they did but nooooo toxic nintendo fans always says a racing game is a "mario clone" and a "rip off"
Sonic Transformed. At least in that game, RNG can't decide that you should be held up for 30 seconds as everyone passes by because you were in first for 10 seconds.
why did you put marios head in sonics head placement area? 21:03
honestly all stars transformed is a bit better if you're really competitive and want creativity, but for the more conservative players who don't want something too different, Mario Kart is the way to go
Roulette Road (Casino Stage) was a port from the original Sonic racing game (Sonic and SEGA All-Stars Racing) similar to how Mario Kart does
Excellent review, in-depth and well spoken.
Liofa Thanks! Appreciate you checking it out.
My opinion
Super Mario Kart > Sonic Drift
Mario Kart Super Circuit > Sonic Drift 2
Mario Kart 64 > Sonic R
Mario Kart Double Dash < Sonic Riders
Mario Kart DS < Sonic Riders Zero Gravity
Mario Kart Wii < Sonic & Sega All Stars Racing
Mario Kart 7 < Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed
Mario Kart 8 ? Team Sonic Racing
Mario Kart Tour > Sonic Heroes
I guess

Also there is no XBOX ONE version the XBOX360 version is backwards compatible with the system.
they should make a mario and sonic racing so it would be like the olympics but in cart racing
I like the 🧀 Map on Animal crossings Race like for 🧀 land
Hopefully we see another Sonic and All Stars racing this generation
the one reason i absolutely prefer sonic racing over mk8 is how much more of an actual skill curve there is, and the game is still fairly suitable for casuals players to pick up
my unfortunately long experience from mario kart is that you completely forget about game skill and have items play out the outcome of the match
Im learning this long experience from Mario kart 7 now it's irritated online while in Sonic my Skills actually matter 100% of the time.
So biased why did you even do a chart if you marked Mario cart 8 #1 for value when it costs 3 times as much? You should have just said "I like Mario cart 8 better"
How come you didn't talk about how MK8 allows you to customize karts and make different customizations?
Aww But what about Best items? Sonic would win since its item setup is more creative a fair compared to MK8's items.
Conclution: Sonic is for Hardcores and for play with a friend; and Mario is for Begginers and for play with friends in your house/online
ProjectCartoon played both prefer mario kart 8 and im not a beginner
ProjectCartoon no not at all
More like mario kart is for destroying friendships... Lol xD
F zero is for hardcores
ProjectCartoon also everywhere in Mario kart 8 deluxe for the Nintendo switch
the casino track is actually a re-release from sonic and sega all stars racing
Wow, a versus RUclips video that doesn't end in a tie!
Also, I gotta say, MK8 for the win. I never really saw an obvious skill based gap between the two. Yeah, MK8 items can turn games but shortcuts and item timing are a lot more crucial.
Sonic and allstars racing transformed is great and the best racing game of alltime
