    Question of the Day - What do you think of Newark Airport's New Terminal?

  • @mrjim1044

    Wow, excellent video! Thank you so much. I’ve been flying out of EWR since 1963 and had 2 jobs there. One with Allied Aviation fueling aircraft for United Airlines and SAS and the other with United Airlines as a CDL driver for their catering operation. I loved working there and servicing the aircraft. And United’s free travel.

    As someone who has lived near by and traveled through it frequently, terminals A and B are in desperate need of upgrades. Congestion is worst in A. B is ok during the day because the international flights arrive late. C is the nicest but also congested.
    While Newark is the lowest ranked, it has excellent mass transit connections being only a 35 minute train and monorail ride from the terminal to Penn Station in midtown compared to the convoluted bus and subway journeys from the same area to LGA or JFK.

    I feel this renovation actually sets up for future expansion and reconfiguration of terminal B (which really isn't very efficient, especially for wide-body aircraft). Overall, it's a great move for the airport, it's quite crowded and a mess inside the terminals for today's traveling demand.

      Agreed.

    • @jamesvazquez2491
      @jamesvazquez2491 2 года назад +1

      Totally agree. Right now B is used for international flights that are not United and it leaves a lot to be desired. Now with the new terminal 1, they might have a golden opportunity to remodel and reconfigure the current A and B together to make it a world class state of the art international gateway terminal

    Thank you so much for this great detailed in depth situation at Newark Liberty International Airport. This new Terminal A is very much 21st century material. It is time that the Port Authority of NY & NJ uses eminent domain status from the rundown nearby toxic, dirty, grimey junkyards of containers, trucking industries, empty lots which were once factories and such in Newark bordering Elizabeth and build a new runway in addition to knocking down dilapidated Terminal B and making a new T-style terminal like Terminal A then followed by Terminal C. This will make a positive profound growth for the next 50 years in aviation for the airport and with all new now known modern conveniences and security for the grounds, the airport and all of its staff, the airlines and out of the grounds of the airport. New Jersey Turnpike, Garden State Parkway, US routes 1 & 9, I78, I80. It will be a win win situation and create a massive job growth in the decades to come.

    Interesting video! It would be cool if you could make a video on Project Journey at National Airport/DCA (locals call it National). It consists of a new concourse which softly opened on April 20th, while it will officially open in the summer, and two new security checkpoints putting the National Hall behind security, opening in the fall. It is one of the largest investments at the airport in two decades.
    Other DC airports have less significant upgrades, Dulles/IAD is getting a Metro stop on the DC Metro Silver Line.

      Even if they still had the land it would be impossible to utilize that space that the AB brewery takes up since route 1-9 is there. Unless of course they were to put the highway in a tunnel

    Among the three airports in NYC, JFK is the best talking about old, but LGA is the best in new class.

    • @jamesvazquez2491
      @jamesvazquez2491 2 года назад

      It’s crazy to think that, because up until it’s recent and current rebuild, LGA was considered a terrible airport, with closet sized concourses. As nice as it will be though, LaGuardia also suffers from congestion that will remain and has no room for expansion. It will also still have some of the shortest runways in the country

I didn't realize until I got to the terminal, they water saluted and everything. Flight was cool as it was a sunset flight to SF, it finally set over NV but started to set in like PA.

      A parallel runway could get put in if the existing terminals were removed and replaced which probably should happen with how bad Terminal B is.

    • @jeffreyanderson1007
      @jeffreyanderson1007 3 года назад

      @@TysonIke they had considered removing the middle gate concourse of Terminal B, but they would lose a bunch of gates. Also considered moving the NJ Turnpike further East and taking land from the Port of Newark area, but too disruptive and expensive. As it is, there are parallel runways too close together for simultaneous landings so they use one for takeoffs and one for landings. Not Ideal, but that’s what you are working with. All these uses (runways, turnpikes, and Port of Newark are heavily used 24 hrs a day, and you can’t bring the entire region to a standstill for x years and spend a fortune in order to move a runway over 20 feet. Welcome to the urban broom closet!

    • @TysonIke
      @TysonIke 3 года назад

      Jeffrey Anderson terminals B and C have a bad design with the large parking lot in the middle. If a new terminal is built on the parking lot and the existing terminals are removed it could fix their issues.

      Boarding by stairs is super rare, especially in big American airports, even with the small regionals. It has to be a very unusual circumstance for a plane not to use an accessible gate. The ADA rules make the airlines make concessions for wheelchairs for any airplane.
