This is the only part of London I know reasonably well (i live in North Essex) and rarely have travelled to london unless ive gone to a music or sporting event. My father got cancer last Christmas, and this is the hospital I a have taken him dozens of times since then, because of the hospitals expertise in ground breaking stem cell replacement treatment that he needed. The level of care he has received has been second to none, and thankfully he is now in remission. People do moan about the NHS, but the the care my dad has received has been nothing but perfect and hastily treated. I know all these little side streets and the memorials and history of the area, spending hours wandering around waiting for my dad to have different treatments. Everything from radiotherapy, chemotherapy and then finally the harvest and replacement of his stem cells. I love this part of London, its very interesting.
It's so very different from here, in Canada. You are fortunate to have such top-notch care for your dad. I pray he recovers fully and you never have to return, unless you want to. I think it helps recovery to be in beautiful places. I hope you both have many long years together. 🙂

Worked at Barts and loved it. The lift ghost is true, for a code everyone would use the stairs. A woman who lost her baby and drowned herself in the fountain. One of the nurses I worked with saw her. There was a little boy in the children's ward who is seen running and playing. His different clothes makes him stick out. The central square was supposed to be a plague pit and supposedly you can hear screams and cries in the underground tunnels. Also you were supposedly you can smell smoke and hear screams and when maintenance was done underground ashes were found at the right level for when burning at the stakes were done. Glad to see it being modernized as it deserves. Best hospital.
Which part of the hospital is the lift in question? I have been to the hospital a lot recently, and have got to go again this Friday, and it would be interesting to have a look if it is a public part of the hospital.
It was in the the Queen Elizabeth building. Sometimes people report children playing in the lift but it's her. She was a student nurse who got told not to follow a neuro patient into the lift and did and he murdered her or that was what got told. I did hear from a few people that the lift followed them up the floors and the door would open !

talking about cloth, a sad fact is young Victorian mothers cut pieces of their clothing and stitched it onto their babies clothing to recognize their babies a bit like a pawn ticket because they had so little money if they had to put them in certain institutions /horrible times for the poor of london/thanks for vid x
My Granddad went to school in st Bartholomew's and went to church every day right there,we went lots of times to visit the place he grew up in st John's Street around the corner.
I've been to the Viaduct Tavern after I read about in "Walking Haunted London" written by the lovely Richard Jones( I met him at one of his ghost tours and he happily autographed the book) I took photos of the Newgate cells and one picture was riddled with orbs. It was awesome! I highly recommend everyone go there.

The fact about the barbers pole is interesting, and something I have never heard of, even though I knew barbers did double up as makeshift surgeons and even dentists.
Well done Sinead, this video brought back a lot of memories, as an Ex patient of St. Barts I had heard of the Hospital Ghosts, but the main memory is that of my ancester, who was a Knights Templar, who had escaped to Scotland and served alongside the army of Sir William Wallace outside Sterling Castle. So well done again I will be watching more of your video's now.
Funny thing, watching this made me think of Crossbones Graveyard. Love the respect you show while in a church,,,, Still at work will finish this afternoon, Thanks Sinead for your time and work.
Regarding the resurrectionists ,three days the corpse was considered fresh enough to use medically, and that three days is traditionally known as ‘the wake’ loved ones and family would guard the body by staying awake, until it wasn’t fresh enough thereby eliminating the threat of the body being stolen, love your tours and stories 👍🏻🙏🏻
New subscriber here! Absolutely loved this video was fascinating - coming from someone who's grown up around this area my entire life I knew some of these stories but some others blew my mind!
I could watch you folks foot tours all day ., I particularly enjoyed this one due to the combined subjects of the paranormal , the grisly and the historical facts surrounding them ( absolutely perfect for Halloween ) . Here in Baltimore Maryland we have our own stories of grave robbing as well as the resting place of Edgar Allen Poe in Westminster Churchyard . Keep up the great work that you all do and stay safe . Happy Halloween !! 💀🎃🦇👻 and much ❤ from Baltimore Maryland.
Hi. I have just come across your videos today. I would like to say thank you for taking the time to tell us and show us the history of these places. I'm fascinated and love ghost stories. Plus being shown some of London is a real treat as I live in lancaster. I visited London once I was in a children's home but even though I'd left it, they still let me go to hide park with them. When we got of the train (I can't remember which tube station it was) everyone was halfway up the escalator, I was still on the platform and all I could think about was American werewolf in London lol I legged it up the escalator. 1 annoying thing is you interrupt the guy when he's talking to you talk over him
I just adore this channel! Look forward to every time a new video is uploaded. The real raw history with no sugar coating. I had a history and government teacher in high school that taught just like you. His name was Mr. Cross and he was a treasure trove of true information of facts, dates and events, with a little extra info on the side. The good stuff! Thank you again for all you do! It is much appreciated!
Started watching your channel and I love it! The, "Jack the Ripper" tour was gruesome but also really interesting. History can be horrible. Will continue to watch. Just thought I would thank you for your entertaining channel and sense of humor.
That was bloody awesome listening to you all and showing the old historic buildings. You have a wealth of knowledge. I’d love to go on one of those London historic tours.
Sinead, there is something about your storytelling ability that makes you such a natural for this ghost tour. Matt and Rob are great as well. I have been a HUGE fan of walking tours since I took my first Ripper Walk back in 1993. They are a wonderful way to connect with a location, its history and people. I hope to make it back someday to take one of these tours in real life. Until then, the tours on this site are the next best thing to being there! I was glad to hear, when you were discussing Mary I, that you brought up the fact that, compared to her father, she was hardly a brutal monarch. I don't think she got the moniker "Bloody" because of patriarchy though. I think it's because the winners get to write history and those that followed were Protestant. There is nothing surprising that they would mislabel a Catholic monarch in order to sully her name.
I've done a couple Ripper walks as well and they are always interesting. But if you're a reader like me you have to hold your tongue when the docent/tour guide says the wrong thing! They don't always know what they are talking about!
@@silverstuff182 It's difficult to have the "accurate" data with things like the history of Jack the Ripper. New theories surface all the time , there is little hard evidence and people get very involved with their personal favorite suspects. I actually enjoy hearing different ideas and talking about them with people that have different opinions. It's hard to be wrong when nobody really knows what the truth is!
I love watching these videos and listening as I do day to day bits. And rob looked so familiar and I just couldn’t think how on earth id seen him before. But I think I’ve found it out. Do you do the HH trip on the Thames?
The tight lacing of the corset was actually uncommon and considered cheating. Instead to get the desired silhouette ladies used padding and layers. There is a lot of myths about corsets that have since been debunked.
Iv lived in London my whole life and didn't no this history. I no there's a huge amount of history but this is something else. Think I shall go and have a tour myself. Thank you.
Gotta say 🤔 if people were squeamish about different parts of the body being buried in different places so as to keep people from making it into Paradise, then why we're saints bodies taken apart piecemeal and buried in different churches all over Chris and them? Thank you for the wonderful tour! I love history and the older the better.
Good point! I'd always read that the 'quartering' of bodies was just so the message of 'look what happens to those who commit treason' could spread as far as possible as a quarter was sent to be VERY publically displayed at each place. Literally spreading the message to all four corners of the Kingdom.

talking about cloth, a sad fact is young Victorian mothers cut pieces of their clothing and stitched it onto their babies clothing to recognize their babies a bit like a pawn ticket because they had so little money if they had to put them in certain institutions /horrible times for the poor of london/thanks for vid x
This is great extra info, Rachel. Thanks for sharing.
Matt was our guide for this tour a few weeks ago, and Sinead for the Jack the Ripper last year.

That's an excellent book, Darcy!
Really enjoying this, thank you, I’m in awe your knowledge 🙂
Glad that you enjoyed the video. If you haven't done so already, you can hopefully check out our back catalogue of virtual London tours ruclips.net/user/FreeToursbyFootLondonvideos. There is more where this came from.

I love history...and the dark side is interesting to me ..I mean it is history and good to know..not many historians will tell this kind of thing .. Places like this must have some kind of hauntings .
Love your tours and am longing to follow the routes when I am in London. Many thanks
We also hope to show you around London when you get here, Gabrielle! You can browse our tour selection here www.freetoursbyfoot.com/london-tours/. Bookmark us :)

The fact about the barbers pole is interesting, and something I have never heard of, even though I knew barbers did double up as makeshift surgeons and even dentists.
great that I discovered you here... def will look for you during next London visit!
We are glad you found us!
These two are a great duo! They have great chemistry - they should do a history podcast I’d listen to it.
Love this comment
Love working with Rob we have a new adventure coming out next week x
Well done Sinead, this video brought back a lot of memories, as an Ex patient of St. Barts I had heard of the Hospital Ghosts, but the main memory is that of my ancester, who was a Knights Templar, who had escaped to Scotland and served alongside the army of Sir William Wallace outside Sterling Castle.
So well done again I will be watching more of your video's now.
We love the story of your ancestor, Michael! Thanks for sharing.
Funny thing, watching this made me think of Crossbones Graveyard. Love the respect you show while in a church,,,, Still at work will finish this afternoon, Thanks Sinead for your time and work.
Mike thank you as always
You’re a gem

@@Sineadlondontourguide You're the GEM, I'm just some clown in America...... LOL
Amazing info thank you

New subscriber here! Absolutely loved this video was fascinating - coming from someone who's grown up around this area my entire life I knew some of these stories but some others blew my mind!
Welcome to the channel, Leticia!
Great, I've enjoyed everyone of your down loads, very addictive . I'm going to be up all night watching your downloads. You have me mesmerised.
Very very disturbing stories Sinead but as ever really well done😢😢
We are already gearing up for the next lot to come this year, Zona!
Thanks for your continued support, Dennis!
1 annoying thing is you interrupt the guy when he's talking to you talk over him
Welcome to the channel, Chris! Thanks for sharing your experience with us - glad you made it up that escalator..!!
Thank you for your recognition and support, Lisa! :)
Excellent. Thank you
Started watching your channel and I love it! The, "Jack the Ripper" tour was gruesome but also really interesting. History can be horrible. Will continue to watch. Just thought I would thank you for your entertaining channel and sense of humor.
Welcome to the channel :)

I love the historical part of this video. Very shocking but interesting.

You both did an Absolutely Great Job!!! 🙌👍🙌
It was great fun

We love your thoughtful comment, Pattie! Thank you for sharing with us :)
Hello, I just found your channel and I love it! It's wonderful to see London again. I lived there 16 years ago and I still miss it:)
