I don't know why, but I've always liked this scene. It gives you insight into how Matt deals with his blindness...like turning up the music so he can drown out other sounds, and see a little more due to his radar vision. Not to mention the idea of how he deals with money, and finally the subtle sadness (but I deal with it) look on Matt's face during the whole ordeal. Main reason why I find Ben's performance fine and well suited for Matt (Though Cox is the definitive Daredevil for me) The R rated cut is vastly underrated and deserves a look for anyone let down by the theatrical version.
I love the Netflix series is perfection, but what bugged me was that they never showed how he dealt with money. This was the scene that made me interested in Matt Murdock throughout this movie. How he lives life and the Netflix series, for me at least, never showed the smaller details. Christ, this Matt has a fucking metal tank of water to block out everything he hears, and Netflix Matt would just sleep in a bed. Not bashing the Netflix show because I fucking love that show with a passion, but putting these side by side, this Matt Murdock seemed to grab my attention more with a 60 second insight as to how he copes. And the pain killer cabinet, holy shit he was prepared. I wished we got more Affleck as Daredevil because he actually wasn’t too bad and I liked this movie.
Never realized some of the "oddities" of what blind people have to do in there everyday life. Like the money thing, when I was a kid I always just thought it was money taken from criminals or whatever and he folded it to make it look like he's had it for awhile, no its so he can tell which bill is which. Then gliding his hand against walls is so he knows where exactly he is. Coming back to this movie years later with a better understanding of what blind people deal with gives me a better appreciation for this movie
