Been able to catch up on my shake and bake content! Glad I caught this one. I'll say the obvious 6.4 displacement is bigger there's more power that could be had over a 5.7 for sure.....For some reason I feel like there's still a little bit more the 5.7 can do that was left on the table before you swapped to the 6.4 like three pedal Jay said we're gonna keep things going for the RT guys 💪 * for those reading Id like to add the motive for my build is to see what the 5.7 platform maxed out can do, i'm not trying to have the fastest challenger
I have a 2016 5.7 RT shaker, 6 speed manual. The build only started when I got the hemi tick and a lifter was failing. And Of course the warranty had expired. Added a Texas speed stage 3 cam kit with hellcat lifters. While I was at it I did headers, Flowmaster exhaust, and the shop did a great tune on it. It runs and sounds awesome. Made 420 to the rear wheels. Wasn’t gonna touch it, but man I’m glad I did.
The stand out difference between the two are the heads, 5.7 heads flow like 269 cfm versus the apache 6.4 340 cfm. That's a huge increase in flow and it's even amplified on boosted applications. The next thing that stands out is the strength of the BGE block, 5.7 tend to have cyclinder wall strength issues where the BGE does'nt. My son had his 5.7 block filled to help strengthen the walls to handle his twin turbo setup. At the end of the day, the 6.4 platform is just better. Was a very good move stepping up to the 6.4!
I am currently doing a 6.4 swap into a 2014 charger pursuit. I paid $1500 for the charger with the dreaded Emmy tick and I found a wrecked SRT grand Cherokee for $3000. The 5.7 can handle way more than that. We pushed over 900 on the stock bottom end and ran 9s. The 6.4, all you need is some drop ins and a cam and the sky is the limit. I just ran several 8s on that set up. It’s the stock pistons that hold the 6.4 back, once forged you’re good. 💪
I wish I saw this video back in april lol it's too late now though. Anyways, I'm looking up on suspension components. I'm going to redo most of it since it's pretty worn out now (2015 rt), but I'm not sure which sway bars or springs to get. My biggest issue is with the springs though, the only performance orientated springs lower the car. Does anyone know if there're some that leave the height alone? ..I added widebody wheels in the back & had to cut my fenders to make em fit. So if it went any lower, I'm pretty sure I'll be rubbing after hitting any bumps in the road. thanks for continuing to educate us btw
