For a 2 liter, the 330i does pretty well although once past 160 kmh, the rate of acceleration does seem to fall off, but come on, it is a 2 liter car that can carry four occupants in comfort. So true, those were the good days. Those 320i (I'm thinking of the e36 and e46) weren't really performers but boy they had a soul, they had character. Now, it's all 4 cyl turbo this, 4 cyl turbo that, and even for a 4 cyl, the soundtrack is terrible.

I am mad the most that for example Ferrari probably will drop their v8 in the next mid engined Ferrari and change it for a v6. It’s nothing impressive, a bmw 4 cylinder from 15 years ago does 260 km/h too. There is a need for a 6 cylinder, the performance is completely different. I wanted a 650i or an S500 cabriolet, but with current gas prices I’d settle for a 430i so it’s Euro 6 compliant and uses little fuel.

The F30 generation uses the same 4 cylinder engine for 330i with 252hp and 350Nm of torque this 330i has the same 4 cylinder but with 258 hp and 400 Nm of torque while the 330i E90 has 258hp and 300 Nm. But with the downsizing the new generation has an average fuel consumption about 6.3 litres while the e90 has 8.7 litres . So there's the numbers . I can't understand why always complain about the new 330i is faster and more efficient . I just got right ahead and buy it .
I'm just approximating with the numbers, but I believe the current crop of F1 cars produce around 700hp from a 1.6 V6 engine. So this is what we have to look forward to.

Strange. Looking at dash suggests 0-100kmh is around 4.8 seconds, but dragy giving 5.7 seconds. On my 330i G20, the dash speedometer is aligned almost precisely with true speed , on 0-100kmh runs.
