Thanks for these long videos; you really do have a soothing vibe to zone out and listen to. It's been fascinating learning how utterly wild this card game I used to play as a 12 year old has gotten. I know it would be asking a lot, but I would love some sort of index to "pick up where I left off", like the ban list video... but that's a ton of work so I can understand why it's not something you'd want to do.

Tainted wisdom was a counter strategy for things like parasite paracide. Which when flipped it would shuffle itself into the opponents main deck, and if they happened to draw it then it would special summon itself, switch the opponents monsters into insect type, and prevented them from attacking with the insect barrier combo.
Sadly, your opponent gets the final cut, so if you have different coloured sleeves, your opponent can easily cut your deck so that Parasite Paracide is the top card and it's not against the rules.

@@cozycr8485 Actually, some cards, like “Kiryu” and some of the True Draco’s, allow one to tribute spells/traps. In Yu-Gi-Oh, effects can override the normal game rules, more then you’d think if worded right.

Wall shadow should have been a fusion between Shadow Ghoul and Labyrinth Wall. With the ATK increase effect of Shadow Ghoul while also being able to attack while in defense position. That way if it's summoned early in game it can protect itself with the 3000 DEF while also being immune to things like Mirror Wall when attacking weaker enemies.

Specimen inspection is made to work with the fossil deck itself. If you can hit an opponent's monster, you basically get a fossil fusion monster with it. Also some of the fossil monsters do have GY effects when sent to GY (Weathering soldier searches a fossil fusion, while shell knight searches a level 8 rock and might also ss it for free)
Dark coffin was made to be used with magical hats to both hide a monster for later and to punish your opponent. A lot of people also use backrow removal so it's not too bad either.

Thinking about this list as a whole, I’ve realized what I keep thinking about - rarity. When you talk about a “bad card”, consider how you would accomplish its effect(s) with a single lower-rarity card. If it’s the best card for what it does in its rarity, then it is not a bad card.
@13:22 - Yado Karu's effect is optional, and in theory could be useful for putting back cards into your deck that you didn't want to draw (things that would be useless in the hand). I believe this was the days before magical mallet, and that's extremely niche at best…
Well with Mallet, you have chance to redraw the garnet. I want cards like Mallet, but you put them on bottom, then draw. Strong? No, it's -1 and by 2023 standard, if a card doesn't at least +1, it's immediately bad.
@@MrCegeb The use with Mallet is not actually to put back garnets, but extra search power for cards that give you massive payout to offset the -1. I believe it was used alongside Spellbook of Judgment when that first came out. Using mallet to shuffle back garnets is generally not recommended, unless you are drawing into them a significant amount of the time, and it makes you almost auto-lose or something.
Plasma ball could be a reference to the magic the Gathering card: Lighting Ball, which have the ability to attack the same turn it entrers the battlefield and sacrifice itself at the end of combat.
What made the card game so bad in the beginning was what Konami's definition of rare. One rare card in a booster is fine until you realize that "rare" meant silver text or up. So you bought one pack of 8 cards, 7 of which were just there and one that might be good. This opposed to Magic which had 12 cards per pack a clear outline of 6 common, 4 uncommon and 2 rares for the same price. Nothing was more heart breaking than spending the same amount on a Yu-Gi-Oh booster only to get a silver for to use with a card that you didn't have. Also rarity was seemingly tied to what they used on the show. It was the opposite of Magic where the beginning was overpowered and make changes in hindsight. Its better to feel like a God than a slave.

That's too broken. First, it doesn't select those monsters before stealing them. Second, tributing monsters from the hand can activate those monsters effects from the hand like the cyberangel archtype. Third, just tributing a monster to steal (for example) 5 pendulum monsters in just one go is... yeah you could guess. Ways to fix it (your card I mean) I believe could be: ● Select that monster(s) on activation. ● The requirement should be to banish 1 monster facedown from your hand. ● The requirement should be to send a monster from your hand that is equal or higher than those monsters combined ranges/link/levels

Wow this is really cool but I think it would be too op because it's too generic. I think both special summon effects should either be type-locked, have a condition, or at least not be quick effect. @@Jyxero I think this would be one of those cards that can scare players into changing up their decks on a semi-regular basis… Anyone using certain cards would run the risk of allowing your opponent to search any number single cards. Anything with a HOPT alone would be risky since, as a minimum, your opponent can single out a copy of said card they also use. BUT _then_ the trick becomes who can guess who’s deck better before the game.

Arcane Barrier can be fueled with Edymion's field spell what in the world do you mean nothing can fuel it quickly (and this is merely 1 option you have others) xD Main reason it stopped seeing play was the good Spell Counter burn deck got shut down, anyone who actually played Spellcaster decks DID use barrier and this was before Dark Hole was legal again too there were plenty of fueling options, and weren't that slow. If you want a slow card you can just look at Royal Magical Library for a good example of spellcounter centric cards that ARE slow.
50:50 Cybernetic Zone is actually worse that what’s being stated. Since the monster comes back during the End Phase of that turn, and gets destroyed during your next Standby Phase, you’ll lose the monster before it becomes useful. Say you banish it during your turn: During the End Phase it will come back with 2400 ATK. If it survives during your opponent’s turn, when your turn rolls around, it gets destroyed during the Standby Phase, losing you the monster before it can tag out. Same thing happens if you use it during your opponent’s turn to try and save it from being destroyed. During their End Phase it comes back, it’s ATK is doubled, then it’s your turn and it’s destroyed during your Standby Phase. The way it’s worded makes it basically useless. If they made it so it was destroyed during your End Phase as well then you could at least use it during your opponent’s turn and gain the attack buff, attack with it, then trade it out.

A cell breeding device is so bad man. Its so old, from a by gone era, and it wasnt even great back then. They need to retrain A cell breeding device to work on BOTH players standby phase AND to distribute a counters to EVERY monster your opponents controls, not just one monster.

Tainted wisdom was a counter strategy for things like parasite paracide. Which when flipped it would shuffle itself into the opponents main deck, and if they happened to draw it then it would special summon itself, switch the opponents monsters into insect type, and prevented them from attacking with the insect barrier combo.
It's big brain time
Sadly, your opponent gets the final cut, so if you have different coloured sleeves, your opponent can easily cut your deck so that Parasite Paracide is the top card and it's not against the rules.

Actually, some cards, like “Kiryu” and some of the True Draco’s, allow one to tribute spells/traps. In Yu-Gi-Oh, effects can override the normal game rules, more then you’d think if worded right.

Specimen inspection is made to work with the fossil deck itself. If you can hit an opponent's monster, you basically get a fossil fusion monster with it. Also some of the fossil monsters do have GY effects when sent to GY (Weathering soldier searches a fossil fusion, while shell knight searches a level 8 rock and might also ss it for free)
I used to love running Change of Heart, to proc Two Pronged Attack to sacrifice one of my monsters and an opponent's for a stronger summon on my side.

Strong? No, it's -1 and by 2023 standard, if a card doesn't at least +1, it's immediately bad.
@@MrCegeb The use with Mallet is not actually to put back garnets, but extra search power for cards that give you massive payout to offset the -1. I believe it was used alongside Spellbook of Judgment when that first came out.
Using mallet to shuffle back garnets is generally not recommended, unless you are drawing into them a significant amount of the time, and it makes you almost auto-lose or something.

Plasma ball could be a reference to the magic the Gathering card: Lighting Ball, which have the ability to attack the same turn it entrers the battlefield and sacrifice itself at the end of combat.
What made the card game so bad in the beginning was what Konami's definition of rare. One rare card in a booster is fine until you realize that "rare" meant silver text or up. So you bought one pack of 8 cards, 7 of which were just there and one that might be good. This opposed to Magic which had 12 cards per pack a clear outline of 6 common, 4 uncommon and 2 rares for the same price. Nothing was more heart breaking than spending the same amount on a Yu-Gi-Oh booster only to get a silver for to use with a card that you didn't have. Also rarity was seemingly tied to what they used on the show. It was the opposite of Magic where the beginning was overpowered and make changes in hindsight. Its better to feel like a God than a slave.

That's too broken. First, it doesn't select those monsters before stealing them. Second, tributing monsters from the hand can activate those monsters effects from the hand like the cyberangel archtype. Third, just tributing a monster to steal (for example) 5 pendulum monsters in just one go is... yeah you could guess.
Ways to fix it (your card I mean) I believe could be:
● Select that monster(s) on activation.
● The requirement should be to banish 1 monster facedown from your hand.
● The requirement should be to send a monster from your hand that is equal or higher than those monsters combined ranges/link/levels

There, I focused some of the effects into monster types a little more. Beyond that, I think the card should be in good shape, as you need BOTH the cards on your field together to get the real fun going, which should make you kinda predicable if you used these cards competitively. Plus any monsters they summon/set with their pseudo-“Call Of The Haunted” go POOF if the monster that summoned/them goes away, so that shouldn’t be too bad. Lastly, they’re illusionists, so while they’re sure to have A LOT of support down the pipeline, for now any of that barely exists.

Anyone using certain cards would run the risk of allowing your opponent to search any number single cards. Anything with a HOPT alone would be risky since, as a minimum, your opponent can single out a copy of said card they also use. BUT _then_ the trick becomes who can guess who’s deck better before the game.
Legit tried this saw the title and was interested, (plus its finals week not like it could get worse), slept the best in a while, and woke up to cool yu gi oh stuff 10/10 would recomend

Arcane Barrier can be fueled with Edymion's field spell what in the world do you mean nothing can fuel it quickly (and this is merely 1 option you have others) xD Main reason it stopped seeing play was the good Spell Counter burn deck got shut down, anyone who actually played Spellcaster decks DID use barrier and this was before Dark Hole was legal again too there were plenty of fueling options, and weren't that slow. If you want a slow card you can just look at Royal Magical Library for a good example of spellcounter centric cards that ARE slow.

50:50 Cybernetic Zone is actually worse that what’s being stated. Since the monster comes back during the End Phase of that turn, and gets destroyed during your next Standby Phase, you’ll lose the monster before it becomes useful. Say you banish it during your turn: During the End Phase it will come back with 2400 ATK. If it survives during your opponent’s turn, when your turn rolls around, it gets destroyed during the Standby Phase, losing you the monster before it can tag out. Same thing happens if you use it during your opponent’s turn to try and save it from being destroyed. During their End Phase it comes back, it’s ATK is doubled, then it’s your turn and it’s destroyed during your Standby Phase. The way it’s worded makes it basically useless. If they made it so it was destroyed during your End Phase as well then you could at least use it during your opponent’s turn and gain the attack buff, attack with it, then trade it out.

A cell breeding device is so bad man. Its so old, from a by gone era, and it wasnt even great back then. They need to retrain A cell breeding device to work on BOTH players standby phase AND to distribute a counters to EVERY monster your opponents controls, not just one monster.
I know nothing about yugioh since the Battle City arc in the anime, and will never get back into the game, however, your voice is very soothing, I use this video as background when I'm writing papers, keeps me company.
