Loky Not everybody is going to college. Even if they go to college, they don’t all master in the same subject. The thing is, the majority always looks for the path with the least resistance instead of going the extra mile and achieving more that all those people combined.
My problem is I like my job (airline industry) overall, but the pay is bad and it’s difficult for me to relocate. Would be cool to vlog but not sure much of it would be allowed at an airport, ya know? Would be interesting though
Loky Some should, some shouldn’t. Nothing wrong with getting a degree, I wish I would have, but only if it’s really going to benefit you. I know graduates who don’t use their degree, and I know non graduates that make good money. You are unique and have to choose that for yourself. If you don’t have anything going on then at least make sure you’re working and making money (and paying taxes, adding to retirement and 401k possibly) and possibly taking some classes, but if you have something you want to do that doesn’t require a college degree then go do that.
I actually started writing things down that he was saying, because it all sounds so relevant and important, I don't want to forget it. Now, I can just watch this video. Much appreciated!
+Devin A - i keep a small (but getting bigger) notebook i started when i was DX w Stage 3 Breast Cancer in 2013 where i collect quotes, or strategies, or thoughts that inspire me, or xplain me to myself ( that whole, why am i different? ) at the same time, i started just writing things, including lines from my own poetry on post-its and stick them everywhere in my studio. It became such a habit, that i woke up one day and saw a pot-it by my bedpost with the lines of a poem that a friend wrote! I rotate them or put up new ones. Letting my eye fall upon a quote in a random fashion as i move around my studio, kept/ kerps my mind stimulated.
If you pay close attention to KC's talk, you will notice that he is constantly in a heightened state of consciousness or awareness of the present moment and his environment, I only reach that state when I am either under the influence of substances (alcohol & marijuana) or when something dramatic happens. Preparation helps but naturally being on that level of awareness is a gift.Great neuro-chemistry indeed. I don't have that gift, and being under influence 24/7 is not an option, that's why I am going to use the wisdom of others and go ahead and download this video as audio to listen to it anytime like a podcast whenever I feel like I need a reality check.
Here is something you never thought about. I Love the fact that Cassie never mentioned his businesses in his vlog's to promote his businesses. He believe's in his idea's so much that he does not utilize his 8 million subscribers. That is motivational to me.
No, he just states the obvious. Just considered wise because most people are drones just going through life on others opinions, just banging into the walls. Rarely coming up with their own conclusions. It’s simple, work hard and you shall become great at what you work on.
I showed this video to my mom. She had never heard of vlogging, and doesn't spend much time on youtube. At the start of the video she was saying: - "He's sort of a Nicholas Cage" - "Does he have a wife? Imagine being married to this guy..." (in a sarcastic voice) By the end of the video she was saying: - "I really like this guy! What's his name again?" - "Does he have a book I can read?"
God, there is nothing that can describe the love i have for this man. He has helped me through so many tough times that i wish i can just give him a hug and say thank you.
I am 57 years old (and a half...) and I want to start a new life wandering around the World with my camera (if I can afford a good one). Believe me, 50 or even 57 years is not too old. I still feel as healthy as when I was 27. So I hope you will carry on doing what you are doing, in a form or an other. Bises, et merci for all these inspirational moments. If I ever become a successful travel photographer someday, before I am really old, I may say that I owe it to you and to two or three other great people who helped or inspired me.
"The most dangerous thing you can do in life, is play it safe." - Casey Neistat Just got 7 min in, so much wisdom, mind blown. Will have to sleep on it--because I can--and pick this up over coffee tomorrow! Thanks so much Casey, your content is amazing. - Patrick
Less time you sleep the more you fuck up your body, the less time you will have to work in the long run. I don't know how long he can go on sleeping like 4 hours a day.
So sleep, how it affects the body and it's necessity is actually wholly dependent on each person's body. Generally as you get older, you actually need less sleep. You're body is also extremely malleable to different routines and situations, as long as you sleep for a given amount at night consistently and take care of the body (don't feed it trash (alcohol, drugs, etc.), exercise, and eat right) you're body will actually do great as long as it's a proper routine. Honestly he's probably better off sleeping less than more......yup that's all lol. My credentials are nonexistent I just love biology and have taken too many bio classes :].
Some people just don't need that much sleep, I knew an engineer once who slept only 4 hours a night. Even if he had more time to sleep, that was it 4 hours
tbh, imo, 6h daily is solid. How many hours of sleep do you get everyday. If you pay close attention to KC's talk, you will notice that he is constantly in a heightened state of consciousness or awareness of the present moment and his environment, I only reach that state when I am either under the influence of substances (alcohol & marijuana) or when something dramatic happens. But I have learned a lot from those experiences and I definitely feel tat I have a better and clearer grasp of what this world is, how and why things happen, and how to make better decisions in my own life regardless of those circumstances.. So true Casey. I have long known that positive people do well and negative people do not. It is like saying before I go to work I will have a bad day and of course that day becomes bad. I have learned in my 62 years that it is far better to be positive in thought and how you speak.
Casey I'm at a turning point in my life. I have changed inside-out the last couple of years and now i'm completely lost/starting anew. This discussion is helping me think better.

00:50 *WARNING* Sleep is very important and can't be replaced by anything even healthy sport. the average person needs 7-8 hours of sleep daily. anything less than that causes serious health problems
18:10 Kudos man. Truth here. One of my first jobs was frying donuts. I totally appreciate the ease of my office-work career now and will forever treat food service and service workers with respect.

Donut shop as a first job is actually one of the best stories you can tell everyone for the rest of your life. Having knowledge of various kinds of donuts, making donuts, icing donuts and names of basic pastries is invaluable and will impress future friends and colleagues forever.
Casey you are a completely inspirational all round super guy , the whole family watches you and loves you . Thank you for your wisdom Casey 😉 , keep going onwards and upwards .
+Definition of "free time" is simply all the things i ant to do, strive to do, be true to myself in every aspect of it. Free time is simply the work i want to and am doing. That's free. Love you, vasey!
Guys, watch the H3 podcast with Casey, he changed his mind om multiple things that he says here. For example, h e now belives succes is is like 90% luck, but you need that constant determination to get the lucky chance! Keep this in mind!
Thanks for putting this up! I'm at the crossroads of my career, one that is safe, but not something I don't want to do and one that is slightly out of reach. Casey always has good stuff so thank you for condensing it all into one video
omg!! That was so good, i know it definitely took so much time to make that thing happen here, but one thing i know right now is you did a good job and many people will find their way in a better one. once again thank you so much.
Just wondering. Does anyone know what time Casey sleep and wake up? Because it seems like he does so much things and still feel energized every day. Such an inspiration!
"In life you have two options: You can do your own thing and stand out, or you can do what everyone else does, what you're supposed to do, and fit in."
I want to say thank you for the video. I am a a time in my life trying to find out my passion and what I truly want. I left my job of 20 years I am happy about that now the biggest step. The best is yet to come.
My younger brother is struggling with picking the right career, I'm going to share this video with him, he might learn something from Mr. Casey Neistat. Thanks for the compilation!
Thumbs up! This was a interesting video! I really dig the motivation entertainers put into their films here on youtube! Can’t wait to see more videos from this youtuber! I have been making YT content for some months now and I hope the world appreciates the movies I produce too ;-) Greets Mike!
Casey's videos work because he has worked hard and is positive and has finanical success. However, some messages are falling short of being best they can be. Ignoring the worst things in life is easier than confronting them. Casey doesn't represent all reality.... he represents the best things... and we like to view such things. He has admitted that he doesn't show dark side...that's fine... just know that not everyone can be Casey no matter how hard they try. Love Casey and all his hard work... but like 'The Secret' the midget will never become a major league baskeball player. I expect flak for this, bring it on. I only say the truth. I wish Casey and family all success.
How do I know if I even have a "deam job", a something I want to do all the time? I don't feel pationet about something in the level of wanting to do it for the rest of my life. I like photography, I like playing the guitar, I like running, I like basketball, I like physics. I don't want to choose one and focus only on it, I want a daily regular job that will help me get paid, so I can build a family and sometimes whenever I want to enjoy my hobbies, I don't want to make my hobbie my job. I study mechanical engineering and I still doubt it tho..
Gal Cesana Its more like "being Jack of all trades but a master at none"....mastering "your thing, ability" comes naturally. Its not like working at all. People especially those outside of family/friends tell you how good your at ________ They notice, they say it with a tone of admiration and appreciation. Hope that gives clarity 😀
OMG lol you hit nail on the head ! I'm 52, I've been building my business since 1997 ... I design and manufacture parts. Everyone, I mean everyone, my Mom, other family, my friends have kept trying to get me to quite ... just stick with a regular construction job. I worked for years, making no money, I've made every possible dumb mistake you could make in business, I've fallen into every pitfall there is : had 4 business partners, 3 of them tried stealing my business away, robber me blind, almost bankrupted several times ... one time I had to take a job catching chickens at night, to get some cash for fuel and food so I keep working at my business. As hard and painful as it has been, I absolutely have always loved designing and building parts, helping people solve their problems ... people love my parts. After years I've come to realize that's all that matters laser focus on your passion in life and do that, you will have no regrets. Then I farm out the all the bits of the business I don't want to deal with to other people so I can concentrate doing what I'm good at and love doing ... that's what brings $$$ into a business. People see your passionate about your business, you will get work, there's no doubt about it. The main thing I've learned about business is that it's a cold nasty hard place, people will steal and cheat you, there are toxic people who purposely try and torpedo your business. You have to learn how to identify liability, because it can kill your business in so many ways ... you need to be able to identify this, then be able to avoid it. A mentor I had once said if you build a great product, it will sell itself .... he was 100% correct. It's all about your product, making it better, constantly upping your game, self improving., never giving up. I've finally realized ... I own and work from home, not missing any meals, bills are paid, I have nothing to worry about, I'm following my dreams, making a steady, stable living at it. Every single time I ever had a shtf moment, there's been many many very painful ones ... it's nose on the grindstone work work work. Usually what happens you get out of trouble because money mysteriously makes problems go away, then I'm super productive and the company will instantly grow.
I think you meant that you feel envy. "You can feel envy about something you don't have but want, but you feel jealousy over something you already have but are afraid of losing."
Casey, this is great. To expand around the idea that Point A - " it is easier to steer something that is already moving" - 10:53 - Create a process Point B- " Maximize every waking second" - 11:50 - Create a more efficient process Point C - "life is made up around people no smarter than you " - 30:07 - Change the norm I would add that increased collaboration by means of strengthened communication can propel these forward at an exponential rate. RUclips and other social media platforms have established the communication but lack the ability to create(A) a more efficient process (B) that will change the norm(C) The Solution: Strengthen the mass communication in a way that will produce something measureable and goal oriented. I have yet to see any type of social platform do this in a trackable mass population way . The various pieces and people are there, we just need to connect them.
Casey in 2015: monday is my fav day. I hate fridays. Take 2 hrs of sleeping and workout in that time. I thrive on stress etc etc. . Casey in 2019 in LA: I regret working all the time. I missed a lot of time with my family. I like to do anything but work. . See thats the thing. Never overdo it. Never overdo love, work, workout, food, sleep or anything. The people who have a maintained a healthy lifestyle and work ethic all throughout life were the ones who knew the balance. They worked 7 to 8 hrs with all their heart and brain when they were 25 and they continue to do that when they were 55. And thats the key. The middle path. Now in 2025 after years of rest casey will say, that he missed making videos and will again start working 16 hrs a day. Our body cant sustain that. Theres a reason they say we need 8 hrs of work, 8 hrs of sleep and 8 hrs of entertainment.
He's also at a different age then and now. So his former advice may still be applicable to late 20s early 30s strives, while the 2019 would be more appropriate for late 30s (his age now) or early 40s people who have achieved a lot already and need to take it slow. Context is important.
Owen's donuts job... Your a real dad not a popular one but a good dad. Your not his best friend your his dad. At the end Owen will remember what comes full circle.... Being a dad is the toughest job out there. I know I always fantasized of being real one to my adoptive son.

I'm a pretty avid fan and this is one of your best vid's ever, great job, and thanks :)
Hawaii...Oahu has everything you're looking for...combination of city, north shore surfing, tropical climate and super friendly people!
This is the Best 30 mins spent in my entire life, now I'm 16 and let's look back where I'm after a decade.
Knowing what I know now makes me feel like I have a head start in life. I just need to do the work.
This is such an amazing Tribute to Casey. Thanks a ton for making this.
Watching this in 2019 for inspiration!
Donut shop as a first job is actually one of the best stories you can tell everyone for the rest of your life. Having knowledge of various kinds of donuts, making donuts, icing donuts and names of basic pastries is invaluable and will impress future friends and colleagues forever.
Absolutely my first Job was a Toyrus kid selling Computers 😉✌
I'm impressed. Never heard of him before. Glad I heard the word cause there are golden nuggets to be sure. So much love!!
Watching this in 2021 as I start my first day of nursing school today. Good thing I added this to a playlist years ago.
I remember discovering this for the first time, still brilliant.
Casey you are a completely inspirational all round super guy , the whole family watches you and loves you . Thank you for your wisdom Casey 😉 , keep going onwards and upwards .
AWESOME!!
Question... are you gonna update the video with the new words of wisdom from lasts vlogs?
Even after all those years thank you some much for putting this together, still one of my most favourite videos on ytb
+Definition of "free time" is simply all the things i ant to do, strive to do, be true to myself in every aspect of it. Free time is simply the work i want to and am doing. That's free. Love you, vasey!
Love you, Casey!
ITS MONDAY! I wanna watch this video every day so everything in this video sticks
Do you know that exact video where he talks about why monday is his favorite day been looking for it since like last monday
Guys, watch the H3 podcast with Casey, he changed his mind om multiple things that he says here. For example, h e now belives succes is is like 90% luck, but you need that constant determination to get the lucky chance!
Keep this in mind!
It's hard for me to watch even 5 min videos sometimes, but I watched this till the end in one breath. Awesome. Thank you
I wish he'd have more talks like this. They really helped me out. Such a great guy
Thanks for putting this up! I'm at the crossroads of my career, one that is safe, but not something I don't want to do and one that is slightly out of reach. Casey always has good stuff so thank you for condensing it all into one video
Casey Neistat: A Guide To Life (Part 2)? Are you gonna make a video from vlog 101-200? That would be really cool!
+SoWiT I super appreciate it! Hats off to you for collating Casey's wise words.
incredibly accurate, have already seen that vid. and clicked the link out of curiosity, daang.
4 hours of sleep! Insane.
Jereek Espiritu that he is brother
He says a number of times in the vlog that he wakes up at 6am.
"In life you have two options: You can do your own thing and stand out, or you can do what everyone else does, what you're supposed to do, and fit in."
Thank you! This is one of my favs :)
I want to say thank you for the video. I am a a time in my life trying to find out my passion and what I truly want. I left my job of 20 years I am happy about that now the biggest step. The best is yet to come.
I thought this was Casey's video until i had come out of full screen. Very nice work.
This video has like the best like/dislike ratio of any video I have ever seen. Love this.
*I've never struggled with motivation*
Jesus Christ.
Just found this video and I'm officially going to keep this running continuously, like Casey with the Godfather movies. Thank You for making this!
thank you sir. Great for when i need a pick me up for getting shit done.
4 years and 400k is impressive man follow those dreams
Nearly at 500k subs! Well done friend 🔥
How does this not have more views? Hands down favourite video on youtube.
I wish Casey and family all success.
i have always skipped your videos because youtube keeps recommending to me . today this video played and i liked it . respect bro :)
Someone got the name of that book? I want to read it. 1:55
"The autobiography of Malcolm x"
Thank you :)
Thank you :) Btw. Nice channel :)
no problem! and thanks a lot ^^
I am so glad u posted this ♥️
casey would be disappointed of me.
let's change :D
going to keep this on to reflect back on when hard times come and when I'm not sure of myself
I study mechanical engineering and I still doubt it tho..
you are Multipotentialites you have no "one true calling”
@Valoo Project Hmm that sound nice. Thank you for this. It make me think of something :)
Gal Cesana So if you're passionate about just fitting in, then fit in. That's the point.
Anne Apolo you can always make movies for extra pay on the side and if you like it and get good money you can transition
Gal Cesana Its more like "being Jack of all trades but a master at none"....mastering "your thing, ability" comes naturally. Its not like working at all. People especially those outside of family/friends tell you how good your at ________
They notice, they say it with a tone of admiration and appreciation.
Casey Neistat has a killer jawline, I'm jealous
Wildly Coyote lmao 😂 bruh
I think you meant that you feel envy.
"You can feel envy about something you don't have but want, but you feel jealousy over something you already have but are afraid of losing."
Casey, this is great. To expand around the idea that
Point A - " it is easier to steer something that is already moving" - 10:53 - Create a process
Point B- " Maximize every waking second" - 11:50 - Create a more efficient process
Point C - "life is made up around people no smarter than you " - 30:07 - Change the norm
I would add that increased collaboration by means of strengthened communication can propel these forward at an exponential rate.
RUclips and other social media platforms have established the communication but lack the ability to create(A) a more efficient process (B) that will change the norm(C)
The Solution: Strengthen the mass communication in a way that will produce something measureable and goal oriented.
I have yet to see any type of social platform do this in a trackable mass population way . The various pieces and people are there, we just need to connect them.
he's a high school dropout but he's got some great success philosophies
thanks for editing and uploading this. probably took loads of time, but you can probably tell it impacted a lot of people. u da best
Great advice...
Owen's donuts job... Your a real dad not a popular one but a good dad. Your not his best friend your his dad. At the end Owen will remember what comes full circle.... Being a dad is the toughest job out there. I know I always fantasized of being real one to my adoptive son.
love the impact caseys had, the community around him is great. edits like these are awesome
free time, sitting around, watching Casey Neistat is not achieving anything hahahahah
He hit so many angles I'm really feeling good and optimistic.
