The testing area for foliage is bad here. Go into a dense jungle area and you'll see a lot of vegetation disappear even on very high from cinematic. Love DF but Hardware Unboxed offered a better visual/performance breakdown this time around.

I'm on a 10700K , 32GB and 3080 10GB (with a pretty good OC, core runs at 2.1Ghz) - Wukong auto-detected my settings to very high for everything, except global illumination to high, and Path-tracing off. At 4K, with 50% DLSS on a 120hz screen with G-sync on. I'm getting about 80 fps on average with some dips to 71-72 in bossfights. Some shoot-ups to 90+ in tighter environments (caves) I'm happy. No need to touch it. The only thing i did was google the mod to turn off the default super-oversharpening that you can't turn off in the settings menu.

But when i did change it from high to very high (keeping the rest as the game set them) decimated my framerate from 80 to 55 , and that was just standing at the shrine infront of the tiger temple in chapter 2 with nothing going on. So probably different biomes in Wukong have various levels of performance depending on effects used.
High on shadows makes shadows to have distracting visible border line in second chapter, it might not be visible in first one, but High is bad setting for shadows

What about Super Resolution %, Anti-Aliasing and Motion Blur? For Super Resolution, I know using TSR is better than using FSR for AMD GPU. In addition, the FSR is not 3.1...
I wonder if its possible in the future to have the upscaling (Dlss/fsr/etc) on a more granular level. For example for Fur which FSR has difficulties uoscaling to use DLAA while the rest of the image uses upscaling. Sorta similar to foveated rendering.

Upscaler yes, frame gen NO!. Frame gen is trash, regardless of the game you play. You get increased latency just by turning frame gen on. And if your native or upscaler render is not above 60fps already, frame gen will give you massive load of artifacts. Frame gen only make sense if you have high FPS to begin with. If you FPS is low, dropping game settings will always give you better visual quality and latency performance. Going from very high to high is still better than staying on very high but you get consistent artifacts.
4070 super is at the top of the upper mid range tier while the 4070ti super is middle higher end while the 4080 super and 4090 are ultra high end Gpu’s
at 1080p you'd be fine with their higher settings. I agree with @devonmarr9872, you should be able to get a good experience at 1440p with these settings and use that DLSS slider they provide to dial in your frame rate. It's such a good game. Gameplay feels similar to God of War but without all the narrative and cut scenes. It's exactly what a video game should be, what they used to be before devs started the soul-sucking cinematics trend. sry, disregard the last part. Have fun!

That terrible leaf ghosting during the entire video tho. It almost drove me crazy. DLSS/TSR 1440p->4k with no framegen look somehow better, but it's still bad. Do leafs even have motion vectors 😥
That's interesting. What testing methodology did you use? I'm currently testing shadows on vs off. Shadows off looks quite different, maybe worse even. I must test further.

This game is the first time I'm seeing bad OLED flicker, specifically in the second chapter. Had to dial back the settings a bit to deal with it (32" QD-OLED, 5800x3D, RTX 4090).
Rtx 4070 laptop settings are 1600p using dlss 54% plus frame gen with full path Ray Tracing on low along with view distance high, anti aliasing very high, post processing very high, textures very high, shadows high, global illumination very high, reflections high, with hair high, and visual quality also set too high which delivers between 90fps to 105fps average but gets as high as 115fps depending on the areas but it’s almost always at least 90fps. That’s with The i7-13700HX CPU !
The game doesn’t even push ps5 hardware to its limits from the looks of it. Not a single game has lived up to the UE5 demo when last generation the ps4 games outclassed the UE4 demo. Have people just been brainwashed from the fact that game companies don’t care about optimization of games or maybe that software isn’t up to date????
For the RTX 4060 with a Ryzen 7 3700X, the Best Optimized Settings will be 1440p Medium Settings with Super Resolution set to 45-46. DLSS Frame Generation is optional.
Unfortunately I have no hopes for that because it's unreal engine. Has epic ever fixed their engine ? Even unreal engine 4 has the same problems. Good for screenshots though.
@@lstsoul4376 they might improve but don't expect any major improvements. The fundamental problem is the engine itself. No unreal engine game performs well apart from tekken and Hotwheels unleashed. Also people are fine with constant freezes and fps drops these days. They would say it runs great on 4090 and we shouldn't be complaining. Jedi survivor has still not been fixed. Maybe after a decade we will have 7090s to run this at 4k 60 fps.

It's wild that this game seems to have gotten away with being so horribly optimized. The PS5 version is legitimately one of the ugliest, worst performing games I've played on modern console hardware. The image quality is dismal.
This game its not horribly optimized. This game its just demanding as it uses a lot of UE5 features. Console hardware just cant keep up with the technology at hand.
It's not poorly optimized at all. It's just too heavy of a game to hit 60fps consistently on modern consoles. You can't optimize everything to hit 60fps on every piece of hardware.
This game is frustrating. I could beat it but I like a casual experience. Trying a fight more than 3 or 5 times.. i lose interest. I will come back when they update the game with some changes and maybe difficulty setting.
they need to just add difficulties, a lot of people find it too hard, and a lot of people found it too easy. I want a hard mode, kind of boring the way it is.

Global ilum on very high is sooo good though, I lowered the other settings so I could use very high. I have a 9900kf and 3080 with 4000mhz memory

I don't see that happening, but they could have different scalability settings for specific areas (like boss fights).

if u have a 2000-3000 series card all u need is the frame gen enabler mod. Gives at least 40 fps for free
