Yeah, at least the Amazon fresh stores don’t make you prove you’re not a criminal to get out. Walk in, bag what you want, walk out. This paybooth looks like it’d stab you from the wall if your credit card declined.

People go to those stores to buy junk food that's they they only stock small amounts of fresh food as it doesn't sell and is wasted if too much is in stock.

best way is using like top up card that separates from main account in my opinion, hence you don't put too much money in it and it won't interfere with the main account. And yes these kind of stores clearly not suitable for every country. but it's nice to know that there is these kind of stores out there

It's likely to help reduce theft, the AMazon Go store they opened here in Seattle was fairly lax on security for entry and since there are no employees it gets stolen from in mass.
I'm not crazy about collection of my biometric information either. I think Amazon Go uses either bluetooth or NFC to communicate with your phone and you get charged through the app.
I love the biometric scanners in this store. I love watching the dancing bacons on such adventures and Mr. Bacon when he buys food and tests it on their patio too.

We have shops like this here in Sweden too, out on the countryside far from a normal supermarket. You scan all your products with your phone and pay in the app, really convinient.
