Just to nitpick a little, but the Enola Gay bombed Hiroshima, not Nagasaki. Different plane, different crew. In Nagasaki it was Bockscar who dropped Fat Man on the city.
The man he protected would have died simply based on the fact when the wave of fire that enveloped them would have given him third degree burns and sucked the air out of his lungs while burning them at the same time. Wolverine took most of the damage but not all of it. Very painful death.
You'd be surprised how far someone can fall from a distance without taking lethal damage; especially with the adrenaline rush they have and the boots the Japanese man had.
Yeah thats nice and all, but he would become blind. Sure, its a small one, but it still sends out enough light to fry his eyes since he is looking right at it.
A very similar scene happened a long time ago in the Heroes tv show where the cheerleader took a hit like this and they showed her coming apart and recomposing her molecules to survive.
This was Nagasaki’s explosion. The first one (Hiroshima) was detonated three days before, there were even survivors of that bomb that went to Nagasaki only to face the other one. They didn’t know the specific details of the bomb, but it wasn’t top secret anymore. Besides, Truman had already given the ultimatum talking about the bombs when Nagasaki was attacked. How did Logan know? I don’t have a clue. But at least it was possible, he may even have been a survivor of the first bomb (considering Logan’s luck, it’s clearly possible).
From cutting barbed wire and a freaking THICK chain with a sword, to the planes dropping that bomb so low with no time to escape and finally Logan's pants.
I am not a nuclear engineer, but I have learned some physics, and I am pretty sure staying down there wouldn't have helped much against the radiation. Still, it is probably one of my favorite Wolverine moments.
Unless its surface burst on a hardened target such as a silo or bunker. Of course, you then have massive amounts of fallout whereas an air burst limits the fallout.
One thing that always bothered me about Wolverine's regeneration is where does all the extra material come from? I mean you can't unboil an egg, once the proteins are denatured that's it, there's no going back. You can only shed the dead cells and replace them, which is how regeneration works normally. That's fine...up until Wolverine can straight up heal everything without so much as needing to eat a sandwich, or losing any body mass from the body auto-cannibalizing itself to replace missing tissue..
Nice plot. But I don't understand why the majority of those nuclear bomb scenes insist on the same mistake: If the explosion is close enough to burn you, you burn immediately at the same moment you see the flash. There is no wall of fire approaching.
