This was a honor to work with all the Black fraternities and Sororities paying tribute to my frat brother Eddie Robinson A-phi!! I have had the pleasure to choreograph the Naacp Image awards 3yrs and this year was one of my favorites. Shout out sands!! Step by Step, NPHC, and vic!!
I hope and pray the Divine 9 does a unity step for upcoming shows (NAACP awards, BET awards, etc.)
I remember watching this when it aired in '95 and could not wait to pledge. The Iotas did not become a full member of the PanHel until '96 which is most likely the reason they were not a part of the tribute.
Me & my brother & sister watched this a thousand times when we were younger!!!!!! We learned the steps & would perform them at random times.
It was an honor to choreograph all these steppers paying tribute to a legand while introducing Stepping to mainstream through The NAACP. Great post.
Not one time did I hear where stepping originated from. 😔 dates back to Africa. - The African gumboot dance performed by dancers in boots is one of stepping's biggest influence as well as Zulu dance.

The Q's hit different when It was their turn!!
IMO, Sigmas had the most difficult step with a lot of movement and they executed well. SGRhos had a nice sequence and those syncopated handclaps take a LOT of practice to get right. I'm an Alpha and former step member on championship teams. I remember practicing with my team until 1am. Practice does pay off!
I remember years ago trying to explain what you just said to a GDI. She was saying that the SIGMAS came wack. I tried to explain to her and some of my own frat brothers that them SIGMAS was mad intricate that night. GOMAB!
Why don't they have more displays of this on NAACP awards or BET awards?!

That was an amazing tribute to Eddie Robinson. Hopefully, in the future we will have all the Divine nine do this again on some show.
As a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. all eight of these organizations made me VERY proud to say that I’m a member of the pan!

Everyone killed it, I love to see Greek unity. Nowadays it seems like a competition about who’s the best organization.
Black on Black fine! Love seeing unity in our community. "A man of quality is not threatened by a man of equality" We must all not only step, stomp and stroll together, but build, uplift, mentor and see it through together. Frats, Sororities, Churches, service groups and community political/grass root groups...there is enough need in our community for all of us to work as one. (1911 sure did look good though....lol)
