I am so obsessed with this piece. I need to learn how to play all the parts. That is of course beyond my current capabilities, but I will persevere and I hope to achieve that goal before i die.
While I love the idea behind this, the ingenuity and the creativity that went into the creation of this; I think from a critical standpoint, the cello should have had part in the melody. I cant help but feel as though this piece was composed beautifully and though the violin was representative to beauty and strength (almost to a degree of too much self-importance) the cello was starved of a moment of beauty. In my mind throughout the piece I could have easily seen the melody being subtly taken by the cello in those moments of silence. As though a call and response between the first violin and the second violin was reignited by a beautiful and unexpected cello melody. Once again, I cannot help but feel as though the cello was starved of a moment in spotlight and the violin in this piece "likes the sound of their own voice" a little too much. Criticisms aside, this was a very original and interesting take on Satie's Gymnopedie No.1 I had not heard before. Thank you and I apologize for the critique, it is from a place of love for this piece.
Isn’t this arrangement by Ray Chen and the Berlin quartet (Made in Berlin) I saw it many years before this quartet. Just search Ray Chen and Satiation. This is beautiful but I like the way Ray and the other 3 Musicians play it, these girls even copied the stomping on the ground, which in the original the guys did it out of emotion (less scripted and more rousing)
This is, and it was precisely the cellist Stephen Koncz from Made in Berlin who made this arrangement. No one copied anything, everything is properly credited
This rendition is better all around and you sound musically incompetent and also pathetic and bitter. Take your own advice and “just search” the score.
The intense parts sound like they're coming from a much larger group! It's crazy the amount of sound you can get with only four instruments
Wtf… What a sound, What a tune… No words…
Can’t stop listening
This wonderful. I love the arrangement and the beautiful musicality of the quartet.
A truly fascinating arrangement of Satie's much loved piece, played here with gusto and tenderness by this wonderful quartet. Thank you 💗 !
