If you craft a bunch of fishing rods. You can load the honey onto the rods and that will eliminate the spoil timer. Then when you need the honey you can right click on the rod to remove it. This will keep your honey from spoiling while you are hunting for a quetz or whatever else you need honey for.
@@themarchhare154 my tip was about avoiding having all your honey spoil in 20 minutes. Not fishing. But yes. You can fish from a pelagornis. This uses ip the honey however so you cannot use it to tame a quetz as the video shows.
Found a 145 Quetz and honeybaited it down to the beach. Easiest birdbus tame ever! Truly amazing. This is best tip since when i learned you can put a chair on the seafloor to regain stam.
I've NEVER seen this method used for taming a quetz. Will for sure be attempting this next time I'm on. That is, after I get my queen bee. Spent 2 hours looking for kairuku for organic polymer to craft ghillie, only to - on the way back home after giving up - to find a bunch in a supply crate lol. But I had to get off, work sucks but it comes first... Idk about yall but I feel like more quetz are spawning on the map in this game when compared to SE much more frequently. Also it seems they're flying much lower than before. Might just be me, idk.
when you get honey from a hive manually, remember to use bug spray and/or take a sword to kill the resulting bee swarm. They will slow you, poison your stamina, and keep stinging until you are far enough away from the hive for them to be auto-destroyed. A low-level char can be killed like this (ask me how I know :) )
I believe quetzals are one of few big creatures with a headshot multiplier. You’ll knock it out quicker by hitting the head (the hit box is odd though).
In my experience most things have a headshot multiplier. I use a utilities plus mod and it comes with some binoculars that lets you lock a dinos stats on your screen. And I've noticed a difference in body and headshots. Small creatures don't seem to have it but most big ones do. Besides a trike of course lol
thanks for this, this helped me solo tame a quetzal for the first time ever. Never knew this existed, and i had over 3k hours in ark survival evolved! really helpful video!
I always wondered if other people out there used this trick with honey. Im glad I'm not alone and others do actually read item descriptions. Nice video and thanks for letting more people know. Much Love. Happy holidays.
Tried this yesterday, and it worked like a charm. 5 honeys, 3 stone gates, et voilà. A perfect tame too if a random dilo did not chew on my sleeping quetz, but heh… Juste before that, I was testing the ptera-grappling-whistle method, crashed a few times, and then I saw this video and I’m very happy! I now have a quetz. Second point, for what actual use, on pve solo, is still up to debate…
I remember back in the day we had to build a trap on the platform of another quetz, fly in front and have em fly in, then knock em out in the trap in the air. One of the funnest clan tames I was a part of... old ark was alota fun
Beaver dams also have a lot of rare flowers. I trapped some wild beavers to constantly build cementing paste and gather flowers. I believe that tamed beavers stop building dams so you need to keep them wild.
⭐️ idk if they patched it or what, but i had a method where you get a pt to 'follow you'. Make sure the pt doest actually land, but it circles your head. Then you could shoot the pt with a grapple and then command it to fly around. Just point in the direction you want it to go and it will fly. Then you can effectively fly and shoot tranqs by doing this. I haven't gotten it to work yet on ASA, but i did it on ASE official last year...
Not sure if it works anymore... but we used to just grapple hook to the Quetz and then dart it while hooked to it... Still best way is to just have a second person carry you while you dart it.
Why can't I get my dinos to auto harvest or enable wander on my new tames on ps5 can't figure out how to change i open my wheel but cant click anything. I can only use my whistles to make them stop or follow any help would be great do you need a saddle for this?
wow yeah that is much easier than sitting on the back seat of a tape saddle and hoping i can get it in the air to whistle follow the quetz all over the map while trying to tranq it and hope it doesn't fall in water or into the mouth of a rex.
I just use an argy, gryphon or any flyer that you can use your hotbar with. Shoot it with a net projectile. With the harpoon gun. And just slap down some wooden signs on it. The harpoon gun and projectile can be a little expensive kinda. But the trap itself is so cheap. Just wooden signs people don't worry about behemoth gates.
imo the easiest way is to fly above it jump off with parachute and shoot it with a net. it will go down and you have all the time in the world to build it in. This way you dont need any honey for taming it.
you cant use platform tames or rafts to tame titanosaurs on official smalls. you can place the cannon but it wont fire. any solutions? preferably affordable
Better to just grapple a Pteranodon and whistle it where you want to go with the comma button, while shooting it with tranq darts. Knock it out and build around it. You don't need honey. Honey also attracts carnivores. With the grapple method you may only need to kill one dino, maybe, unlike the mob of dinos you attract with the honey.
What about rare flower? And you could lead it into a pre made trap? I haven't tried the idea out at all since i never progress far enough but itd be interesting to see if it works
Are you kidding me? I did the grappling hook thing over and over. And finally got one. Then I used the big cage on quetzal technique. This would have been sooo much easier.
@@Christian021R they're not taming the quetz with honey, which is what "taming" means. Instead, they're using it to lure the quetz into a trap. They are taming it after, but they could also be using this method to trap and kill dinos, lure them away to steal eggs or young, etc.
True. If I'm close to my base I just make it follow the honey crumbs until we reach my base. If the base is really far I take it to spots that are not taken over by pillars. If there is absolutely no place to take them because the map is that badly pillared I don't bother with the quetz and I go for the Rhynio. But if you must have a quetz and you can't find any spots that are not pillared then I would just go to the old fashioned way and grapple to my bird and start whistling lol.
Yeah they are everywhere unless you are on single player. If you are on single player it takes a while for them to start spawning. I checked to see how many had spawned on my single player after a few in game days and I only had 2 total which was pretty bad. I then used slomo command and after rushing time forward for a while I had about 12 that had spawned.
@@LuckybyNature I'm on a public server I rent, but it's mostly just the wife and me that play. We probably have to "wake up" the redwoods out of stasis more is all. Thanks!
Nah. With the addition of console mods the way to tame quetzal is super simple now. Just use a pteradon. Fly above it. Hop off and parachute. Use grapple hook and reel yourself into it. Use a 500x tranq pike. Ezpz. Works on the dragons in primal chaos too but they fly fast in circles like a meth headed pelagornis and they deal trample damage to you as they fly so make sure to spam healing potions or you'll get twoshot.

Welcome back! I missed your PRO TIPS videos.
Hey guys, I'd like to ask for a Rhynio tame video, what ya think?
You’re not allowed to ask.
Check out Captain Fatdog 's trap, it's the cheapest and best.
I will have to look into it because if you play on pve, traps are not always the best option.
I've used fat dog's, but I've done several tames "the lucky way", like the grapple to the giga, so I thought I'd ask
Genius! I never thought of doing it this way. Thank you for the clear tutorial.
Glad it was helpful!
And if you are still having issues getting Honey, tame a Bear. they get 15 from the hive and bees dont bother you.
