They did explain why P3 says 'crispy critters' as a catchphrase, theres a voice recording in the underwater base that elaborates on P3 and his wifes comas. The attending doctor referred to them both as 'crispy critters' because of their field injuries, upon hearing this enough times P3 immediately woke up and strangled the doctor. Sechenov says that it might have been psychological conditioning or trauma but is annoyed that P3 can't stop saying his catchphrase around him.
It’s not a voice recording mate! It’s within a series of emails in the PEAR terminals in tha academy of consequences that you can read whilr sesrching for the tapes for Filatova. The whole story is not in one terminal but on several.
@@mateofabian Those terminals are like, the biggest lote dump in the game, from stuff about P-3's recovery to Chariton's motivations and what really happened to him
In russian localisation 'crispy critters' is actually ебучие пироги - 'fucking pies' a curse what has a abstract meaning, when a person wants to say ' what a dire situation'. So now, i guess, it makes sense. It's like saying ' fucking hell' every time something bad happens. Nechaev uses it all the time because once he was undergoing his surgeries and once again went mad during the process, one of the neurosurgeons was scared and yelled ' ебучие пироги'. We can find info about it in one of computers in the 'lore room' . Sechenov mentions that this phrase have imprinted in Nechaev's brain, that's why he constantly yells it. They even thought to remove that phrase from the brain completely, but Sechenov told them to leave it that way. Also in those computers we could find and info that Zacharov was a misantropist his whole life and thought, that human body limits him. So he willingly turned himself into neuropolymeric goo. He was still able to communicate with Sechenov thought, and when Dmitry asked him, if he wants a new body for himself, he refused multiiple times. So after that we could understand that Zacharov lies about him being killed by Sechenov. Also the thing that every polymerised human could be controlled by collective is once again likely a bold faced lie, since the only human controlled by it was Nechaev himself and he had a special module Voskhod implanted in his head. So i think Zakharov is actually a real villain here. But we cannot say that Sechenov is a good guy either. Invading and capturing other countries by inside and just doing experiments on people, that's very evil. There are no good guys here, a perfect portrait of soviet union: everyone is a dick! XD What a great video, i loved it! Thank you for your work and dedication!
Interesting information about the 'crispy critters'. I read all the logs in the lore room and found the one describing it as an expression a scientist said during the operation. The log really didn't explain the deeper context of it's meaning. I came away from the log thinking it was more "an accident" as one of the scientists was overheard during the 'conditioning' part of the operation. The context you mentioned gives a lot better and more logical meaning to the phrase. As well as the surrounding circumstances for it. The ending was very interesting to me. After thinking about it, I realized that both endings are the same in their impact. Both Sechenov and Chariton ended the human species. Scehenov through taking away 'freedom' and 'mortality' (which I think was mentioned in the last 'blackout', as humans transcending their bodies and no longer dying and being forgotten) fundamental parts of being a human. Chariton through direct annihilation(?) of the species. It's possible it was Chariton who wanted people to all become polymer as the next stage of evolution, I didn't see that directly mentioned though. I really liked the ending when seen through this light. It shows that Sechenov and Chariton were best friends and student/mentor, in my view, for a reason. As they aligned in all but their direct method of achieving the same goal. Their methods, motivations and ultimate outcome the exact same. I thought it was also a nice touch that built depth of the setting by including the Molotov arc. I've recently watched a few videos by RUclips channels 'Perun' and 'Paper Skies' where they talk about, to paraphrase, 'corruption as culture' referencing the ideas and pholosophies surrounding 'smekalka', 'vranyo' and one other I don't remember the word for. If the videos from 'Perun' and 'Paper Skies' are decently accurate; The Molotov arc really highlighted that culture and its philosophies. Helping me to get a little bit more into the mindset of someone living in the USSR as a foreigner.
*_"Also the thing that every polymerised human could be controlled by collective is once again likely a bold faced lie, since the only human controlled by it was Nechaev himself and he had a special module Voskhod implanted in his head."_* What about all of the test groups that Filatova was controlling?
@@Jamelon yes. That THOUGHT module was the way the populace would "control" the robots and become part of Kollektiv, inadvertently placing them under his control. This was confirmed in the DLC I believe.
27:03 so this section here is what kinda ruins the end of the game.. once sechenov sees that P3 blacked out and killed the commission, he should’ve known and told P3 right there that Charles is doing this to him and causing him to murder everyone.. but he doesn’t divulge that info until it’s literally too late and he’s already been shot at the end of the game.. as much as I really liked the story that one plot hole really does make me think a lot less of the twist at the end
Crispy critters! I sure appreciated this explanation video… it’s so well done and made me understand so much more about a game that I played months ago and only picked up again recently - so I forgot about the first 50% entirely lol. Nevertheless, a fantastic summary.
'crispy critters' btw i think this was a well made game and i really enjoyed playing it, its sad that the ending wasn't the best but i loved the video and made me understand the story line better thx man and keep it up.

My favorite use of P3’s catchphrase is when, I believe he’s talking to Larissa and he says something like “what’s wrong with that u crispy ass critter” and I legit laughed out loud at that one lol
Hello "crispy critters" I didn't finish the game but was mesmerized by the Soviet Aesthetics but defeated by the puzzles so thank you Greenlinks also loved your Outcast trails deep dive 🙈
22:31 I watched the gameplay. Robot better be glad he through a screen or else it would be on sight. 👊🏿 Felt so bad for P-3 at that point. He deserved another smoke.
Crispy critters!! My main complaint about this game is the parkour/climbing mechanics. Otherwise, I truly enjoyed it. Was suspicious of that glove early on.

I was expectinga big fight going in, fighting dozens of bots then the twins and a little more story. But overall the game was pretty solid!
