    I have a feeling the bottle is exactly why Blanton's was chosen as the whiskey John Wick is drinking at the Continental in the first movie. It's very eye-catching. Perfect for cinema. I also imagine the money spent for that product placement has paid the distillery back many times over.

    Those who dismiss Scotch entirely do so for their own loss, in my opinion. The variance in Scotch whiskies is HUGE by region and style, unlike Bourbon that has stricter legistlation constraints that make them more alike to each other. I love both Bourbons and Scotch single malts, but I certainly don't like all of them from either category.

    • @Brewzle
      @Brewzle  6 месяцев назад +28

      I've tried hundreds of Scotches at this point, peated, not peated, Islay, Highlands, finished, not finished, I really think it's just the fact that my palette doesn't like Pot Still Malted whiskey. So, that eliminates all scotches before anything else is considered. I also don't like Cilantro or Horseradish, but those are apparently less controversial.

    • @pultsari9036
      @pultsari9036 6 месяцев назад +2

      @@Brewzle Fair enough, hundreds of samples covering all regions is certainly sufficient to determine whether one likes it or not. I guess my view is skewed because I myself find plenty of very enjoyable drams in both categories, so it's not so easy for me see why nothing would be suitable from another group for someone while they love the other group. Cask play is so varied that I agree it must be the combination of 100% malt and pot stilling that does it.

      @@petebigner151 It really is an acquired taste, but then again so is Bourbon (at least it was for me). I guess people have differences in tastebuds which prevents them from ever acquiring certain notes no matter how much they are exposed to them. Like the cilantro mentioned earlier; I love it, billions of people love it, but for some people it tastes soapy and it can't be helped.

    It is amazing how the palate works, cause I find Eagle rare complex with many different flavors and when I finish my drink I find myself smelling that glass over and over again and it is still filled with wonderful wood notes like cedar wood, but that’s just my opinion.
    About the strength, I don’t need it in high proof.
    I admit for high proof stuff I always add a few drops of good water and I feel it is more flavorful that way.
    You don’t like Eagle Rare, fine more for me, but I find it way more complex than Russell’s 10, which is good, but way simpler not much in there for me.

    buffalo trace is mashbill #1, blanton's is mashbill #2 - which is the "high rye" - I can believe someone saying they prefer standard BT to Blanton's if that's their thing - BT is a great value, Eagle Rare (also mashbill #1) at 10 years - is an insane value. I think I like Blanton's better, although i've never had them together in a blind - I personally tend to choose high rye mashbills over more corn forward ones. That being said, Stagg and Taylor are both mashbill #1 and at higher ages (and proof points) would always blind better than standard Blanton's - PERSONALLY - AGE (and not over aged, correctly aged like 11-16 year, and proof BARREL STRENGTH/FULL PROOF - trump mashbill (even wheated, or four grain stuff) - Stagg (formerly JR) over Blanton's any day of the week...

    Unless I happen to stumble upon something 'rare', I mostly just look for dusty old bottles in addition to daily drinkers. They're normally pretty cheap, and it's entertaining to do a side by side with something more recent.

    Here's a take, not sure hot hot it is: Distributors need to be optional. If a distillery wants to take care of their own distribution, they should be allowed to and not have to rely on someone who might play games with their products, i.e. "You have to buy X amount of these before I'll sell you that." Or having top shelf bottles never making it to stores or only going to the distributor's favorites.
    It's not the early or even mid 1900's anymore and the laws need to be updated accordingly.

    I 100% agree with that guy about Wild Turkey products. Even 101 is only noteworthy (in my opinion) because of its price. I've tried 101, Rare Breed bourbon AND Rare Breed Rye, Russell's Private Select and Russell's 10 Year and I've walked away slightly disappointed every time. They certainly aren't bad whiskeys, I can see there's quality here and I understand why they're so popular among bourbon lovers, but something about the Wild Turkey flavor profile just throws me off

    My son loves Scotch. I tried to like scotch, I really did, but the taste makes me think of band aids. After watching Brewzle and a few others, I tried my hand at Bourbon (Buffalo Trace) and I'm hooked. So far I have enjoyed Buffalo Trace, Woodford Reserve, Makers Mark, Makers Mark 46, Frey Ranch and Old Forester 1910. Thank you for doing this channel, it gives me ideas on bottles I want to try.

    Looking for recommendations, was always big into craft beer and I think the natural progression is always bourbon/whiskey, I can’t say I hunt much, but I always said if I stumble across any of the Wellers/ER/Blantons for a very fair price, I’d buy it, recently got all 3 for pretty cheap (for around here ((SR $35, ER $40, Blantons $70))
    Love the taste of Blantons, ER is really easy, think least fav of the 3 is SR (but it’s still a really good bottle)
    My question for all you experts in the comments here is, being relatively new, any suggestions to look for, a store near me just got a store pick Buffalo Trace for $30 today so I’m gonna go grab that, but I’d like to get some suggestions of not too expensive things to look for. Thanks for all the help yall!

Funny story I went into a liquor store I think it was Wegmans and the lady that worked there told me she had only seen pictures of wellers and she had only ever had one bottle of buffalo trace trace in there store and she had worked there for ten years. So the whole time I was there I had Elijah Craig four rose's
