I have this same winch, but it came with the upgraded switch (not sure if lighted). The switch wiring going to the solenoid has a small red wire coming out, which I believe is the keyed-on wire. I do not know where to plug this little red wire in (Kubota RTVx1140). Additionally, I have connected all power wires from winch to solenoid, and solenoid to battery (only wire not connected is the keyed on wire) - and winch is not working (even with vehicle on or off). Is this keyed on wire the reason? Or could it be a problem with the solenoid/winch?
So really good question. The red wire that you’re talking about must be connected to a hot wire that is on only when the key is turned on. If you had a Polaris ranger, it’s easy because they have a pulse bar with a wire specifically on only when the key is turned on. I’m not sure about the Kabota but if you can find a hot wire that is on only when the key is turned on connecting it to that red wire will make your winch work. Probably great. Consider subscribing. Thanks Joe.
I want the winch to only be able to run when the key is on. If I unplug the red wire from the toggle switch and run a wire from the key hot to the plug that you have the red wire on will that work?
Hey buddy, what you suggested will probably work however, the easiest way to wire it up properly is to use the pulse bar. The black is ground and the blue is the switched. Why are there only runs when the ignition is on the red is on all the time. Thanks Joe.
My buggy is an stock 04 Yamaha Rhino. It doesn't have a pulse bar. I have added an external fuse block for accessories that is only hot when the key is on. I'm thinking that I can run my red wire from that. I'm going to try it that way tomorrow. I've been installing the winch today following you instructions except for the pulse bar. Thanks, Trav
@@travharrell1713 hey that sounds like a good idea. I think that will work. Let me know how it goes. I’m sorry all I have are Polaris with the Pass bar but I think you’ve got it under control. Thanks, Joe.
I hate to be negative but you did not show the final connection to the camera, even thought you talked through it. I would have appreciated seeing you hold it up from several angles so we could see clearly. It seemed from what I can tell you didn’t do it exactly like the wiring diagram for the switch.
Thank you for your comment. I’m very sorry that I wasn’t as demonstrative as I could’ve been. You know it’s funny when you are doing these videos you think that it’s clear but then sometimes it’s not again apologies sincerely, Joe.
Hello there. Did you say that your switch won’t turn off I don’t know with? I don’t really understand the question other than possibly you don’t have it wired up to the switched wire. If that’s the case and it’s wired to the continuous on yes it will not turn off. If it is wired to the switched wire, it will not work after the engine is turned off, which is I think what you’d like.

You never showed anything about connecting the wires to the switch.
