    Even though my birthday is the 19th I considered this a birthday gift from you Nigel. I've wondered for awhile how exactly you'd work with a boxwood. I know I just started bonsai this year but I think boxwoods can make gorgeous bonsai. They have amazing foliage and give alot of options for choices. Only down side to boxwoods is they harden up really quick and make it impossible to use any wire. You got one chance to wire a boxwood, when it's green lol anyways thanks Nigel! Can't wait to see how these turn out!

    Maybe move your camera to the side/ or above slightly cause its focusing on your hand and the actual plant work gets blurry. im sure that would make the footage more professional.

    Are you doing root and top work at once because boxwoods always bounce back better because if you space out root/top work it bounces back slower? I read that somewhere. I killed all my boxwoods. I just bought a beautiful one today so I’m rewatching boxwood videos to see if I can catch what I went wrong with before working on this guy I got today.

  • @davidcadle6463

    I don't know if you have rooted boxwood cuttings before but in my experience they can take over a year to root, specially larger cuttings. Just a heads up, don't give up on them, as long as they are still green. :)

    • @walkerschlott4518
      @walkerschlott4518 2 года назад +5

      You can tell where the root plane starts because below that there will be no more trunk, they will be roots coming out at all angles. The high roots will be by themselves and there will be a large amount of trunk beneath them.

    Nice video as always Nigel. I’m wondering if you could give me some advice if you should happen to se my comment at all. I’d be very grateful for your advice 😊
    So basically I live in the UK and for the past 5 years or so I’ve been trying to grow orange trees from seeds ever since I saw your video and was ultimately impressed by it. The problem I have is that I can never manage to get them past the seedling stage for some reason and I don’t know what it is that I’m doing wrong. I’ve tried everything from changing the soil type and adding things such as coarse sand and perlite to changing how much water I give them and using grow lights as well as natural light, all to no avail.
    I know that it’s very hard to grow them from seeds especially in the UK due to the nature of our climate and it would just be easier to probably buy one, but I I want to be able to get the growing technique right to be able to grow them and citrus in general and have that satisfaction of getting them from the seedling stage to a well established and healthy bonsai, so in 5/10/20 years I can look back at a well established citrus bonsai and say to people “This is what I’ve managed to achieve because of the inspiration that Nigel’s videos have given me, which is persistence to get where I want from something I’ve grown”.
    Any help and advice at that you can give on growing them from seed would be extremely appreciated ☺️
